pi**ing off the internet very hard to explain. But it’s basically where something happens that contradicts the purpose or idea that is happening. So in this case he is using a colon to say that he can’t use colons. Which is ironic because by doing so he demonstrates he can use colons.

my personal tips
1) first do question 5
2) do question 1
3) do question 3
4) read question 2, read the sources, identify the subject of the question and then answer.
5) read question 4, identify the subject once more and reread the source again and highlight key quotes with effective language devices.
other tips
-do not use language that is in the text for your answers.
-CHECK YOUR ANSWERS
-correctly identify what you are supposed to talk about.
-COMPARE BOTH SOURCES WHEN YOU NEED TO or GET CAPPED AT HALF MARKS

Misan say what devices they used (compare them)
e.g in extract A writer uses simile to emphasise the dangerous nature of the sea
in extract B the writer uses a simile to emphasise the calmness of the sea
or
in extract A writer uses a metaphor to show highlight how worried he was
in extract B writer uses a simile to show he scared he was

I'm guessing you were still on Question 2, so was I, I spent a lot of time on question 2 but I added a lot of detail, also I'm a fast writer as well, so I added not everything, but most of what I wanted.

He said spend 5 mins Q1, 10 mins Q2, 15 mins Q3 and 20 mins Q4.
= 50 mins. So that won’t work. You’ll have to cut 5 mins out somewhere. I recommend on the reading, Q1 and maybe Q4 as it is 16 marks (20 mins seems more than enough).

Thank goodness i did horrible too ahah. I wrote 2 paragraphs... First one was about how it goes from the bus to the characters which is "mysterious" and makes it compelling and second was how the flowers are repeated which is Forshadowing that something will happen with it,,, so its "interesting" somehow
You can repeat your anaylsis n that in differnet questions because each question is marked by a differnet person but just make it fit the question

Thanks for your help as always, I believe I have done particularly well on Paper 1 however I ran out of time on the 20 mark question as I had spent far to much time on the two 8 markers; despite the fact that I am gutted that I ran out of time; I still think I managed a 7/8. Yeah there was a sentence where the writer repeated how skinny Alice and her mother was
Harry Mason yeah what could you say about the adjective “thin” which was used to describe them I wrote something for that but idk if it’s write
Krish K I wrote how it shows they are poor because of the association of skinny with lack of food and so lack of wealth and the repetition of “poor” emphasises that and makes the reader focus on that aspect about the family 🤷♀️
Well the writer repeated it so he was trying to tell us that they were extremely skinny so I talked about how the family business was not doing good which linked to why the dad was so angry.

Grade 5 is 92
Nope we don’t know yet legit even aqa doesn’t know yet.Once all papers been marked then they will set grade boundaries
It's out of 160 the papers u combine the marks together and times it by 2 to get Ur grade

Kind of. You can still get a 3/4 on paper 1 if your question 5 was really good. There is also paper 2 so you can get a 5/6 overall if you do really well on paper 2. But make sure to answer all questions in paper 2

Did you like write full pages for Q5 cuz as long as it's a good quality at the end of the day it's not about the quantity like bare people think writing 10 pages of a story the examiner picks out the things from the mark scheme
I wrote 7 1/2 pages for it but nothing else I had NO clue on the text 😂😢

When you say read the text for 15 minutes, do you mean read both texts in 15 minutes or just one?
For paper 1. I took your advice and did question 1, then question 5 but then I spent a bit too long on question 5. I was then able to do question 2 but only did one paragraph for question 3 and only like 3 paragraphs for question 4. Did I mess up? Could I still get a good grade?
You can get a good grade the papers are combined and u can even get a pass if Q5 was good

Also for paper 1 question five can your story be about yourself and not a character
In paper one i read the source and tried doing question 5 but because i was so anxious and stressed nothing creative came to mind. I did all the other question and when I was supposed to get onto Q5 my mind already subconsciously thought of ideas, so if youre really anxious like me, i think this is a good method.
I wrote a story for question 5 about the picture . Does that mean I get no marks? I did include good description and stuff tho

if you do it with a storyline and have made a link to the word 'abandoned' they can't mark you down
