Very fair and balanced review, Wayne. Your conclusions that are tied to history were excellent!

I love your critical analysis in your reviews! I watched all the videos, and even others vids on this game and missed what was some of your “Cons” in those vids. I knew about errata. So in all, good stuff to be aware of and Great Review!!! Thanks Wayne.

You know I'll always be honest Tom, and I try and explain my pros and cons and not just say "I liked this. I didn't like this." and end it there. Overall, I like this game and I'm glad I picked it up.

Good stuff as always, Wayne. Meanwhile, the only place to stock it near me already quickly sold out - oh well!

Whaaat? Sold out already? Do you live in the US?

@@WayneHansen No, Ontario. There are a handful of places to buy from and often only one will stock a certain game to start with. I was looking at another game yesterday, $31 in the US but $33 to post up here. It was only a magazine game, for goodness sake!

The shipping costs are outrageous. Completely out of these publishers hands (whatever the USPS/UPS/Fedex charges them is what they have to pay) of course, but still painful for anyone outside of the US. And you're not even "overseas", just across the border!

@@WayneHansen Yep, I'm not paying that - especially since 90% of what I try ends up for sale if I don't get instant gratification! I should try embroidery or something else instead - haha! I can get small things shipped via US work office but don't like doing that too often.

*Meanwhile just this minute, Kido Butai just arrived on my desk at modest price (it's very small!) all the way from Germany.

Fantastic video. In short: it is AGAIN a State of Siege solo game with a twist. A mechanic that is easy for solo gaming to implement and design, but not really suited for simulations… Am I right?
I had several of these tower defense games - or Valiant or SoS or whatever called - and THE 100 dollar question to me is this: when I will play this wargame, will I understand better what happened/could have happened (because THAT is why I play historical wargames) and not to have “fun” with a game. Because I can play fantastic other thematic games for the fun aspect.
I sold most of my SOS games. And I think I held on to Pavlov’s House for the document PDF that came along with it and the logistical units overview while it was “fun” to play.
So after this EXCELLENT video I want to ask for a EU (solo) wargamer - like me - who really never got interested in the Pacific and having bought but never played Pacific wargames (DDay series, Battle Hymn, …) is this the game to get me started in that era or are there other games around in solo format?
Btw: keep these excellent videos coming.

Love the review... where did you get the chit bowls?

They are stainless steel spice/pinch bowls. I got mine from Kohl's, but Amazon has some very similar to mine.

House rule to keep IJN CV/CVL's one area west of the objective hexes?

Rolling for hits by the USN, and then assign damage. Nice house rule. I guarantee that the USN TBD's didn't care about a light cruiser.
