I love how Sunwoo says "Winter is coming" in his rap during the 100 second performance and they have a Game of Thrones concept for their first mission performance. Kings of storylines. Honestly The Boyz and Stray Kids are the ones who I'm anticipating the most in Kingdom.
The Boyz is indeed a story-teller. Let's talk about the 100 seconds perf, their concept is from Game of Thrones. Sunwoo's last line on his rap is "Winter is Coming" which their performance for the Ep 1 literally started with "Winter". The flower that bloomed on the screen while they're doing this ballet routine during Ep.0 is a korean flower that blooms in April (Kingdom started in April) which means hope.
iKON said they wanted to join kingdom because they thought this would be a good opportunity for them to show us, iKONICS, good stages due to the current situation with the covid they can''t meet fans, they're too sweet T-T + The ranking for the introduction stage was solely based on fan votes and not by experts or by the contestants themselves ...
The Boyz' performances are getting better and better, idk how it is possible since all their performances are already perfect.... they deserve all the world but the world doesn't deserve them
I definitely agree that "performance" means something different to the older groups, and I don't want ikon to give up their ikon-ness for the sake of putting on a stage that fits the kingdom/4th gen definition of performance. I am not actually an ikonic - I didn't even know most of their names before this - but their performances have been some of my favorites so far. They're just so FUN with such a unique energy relative to the others, and it makes them stand out to me. Even though I'm a fan of TBZ, ATZ, and SKZ (Stray Kids and Ateez are literally in my top five most-listed to artists), I LOVE that the older groups are bringing something different to the table, and if they're going to try to adapt to fit the Kingdom mold, I hope they find a way to do it without giving up the things that make them special.
Same! I feel like I’m always at a concert when i watch them and for me that’s what a performance is all about. I reeeeaaallly hope they don’t try to change up their whole style just to fit into this new box because then all the performances will start feeling the same :/
There are two things I don’t want for this show. 1.) I don’t want to watch 6 groups try to do the most similar types of stages possible over and over. 2.) I don’t want anyone to get hurt. Period. Jaeyoon from SF9 hurt his knee doing that jump for the 2nd stage and for what? 4th place just because the bigger stunts get more points from “experts”. iKON already did stunts/acrobatics like that 8 years ago and Jinhwan nearly got dropped on his head so many times. Still makes me cringe. This program would be better if they had better challenges and save the full theatrical performances for last. Do a ballad/acoustic/unplugged stage, or a blank room stage (no props just them and a room), or a famous song cover stage, or a water stage, etc. There are a ton of challenges that could show different sides of each group. The funny part is that it’s actually the fun, lighter, sweeter songs that become popular among the Korean public not hard hitting explosive songs. That’s why they’re not into this show. Again, making each mission with more specific boundaries or challenges would be better and save the full prop-filled explosive performances for the final. It’s called a build up people, not “hold my beer”!
Yup. I also think it's better to watch the whole show instead of only the performances, because you get all the behind the scenes and how they come up with concepts and storylines, just like Ikon had a storyline in their performance and the mashup of the two songs wasn't only for the purpose of contrast I understand why Coco only reacts to the performances tho because of editing and stuff, so I don't blame her for not knowing
I kinda agree with your comment regarding the difference of definition of a performance between IKON and MNET. I think it both applies to IKON and BTOB. I mean, looking at how the ZZZ (Ateez, SKZ and TBZ) approached the performances, it seems like a performance for them is imo composed of, sharp, cut throat d and calculated dance(nothing wrong about that btw) On the other hand, BTOB and iKON's definition is somehow different in a sense that BTOB's core foundation is the vocals and emotions and IKON on the other is all about charisma, hype and presence so it'll be probably a challenge for the two groups to adjust since MNET's definition of a performance seems closer to what ZZZ is showing.
I do personally think btob and ikon shouldn’t « adjust » to mnet style. Both groups and SF9 are what make this show diverse and interesting to watch. If they start doing things like the ZZZ I would be surprised because it’s not their identity (if you understand what I mean). But after all it just a matter of preferences as I prefer performance that are not based on props (like the 3rd gen groups of the show).
ATEEZ has storylines and emotions!! The members are highly skilled in performance and facial expressions. They also love telling their pirate storyline through dance!!
I think that they shouldn't have to adjust since mnet claimed that RTK and Kingdom is "a competition show to showcase performance" I think they (mnet) should be highlighting the different types of performance that can be done instead of praising the cut throat sharp type of performance and trying to want everybody else go just be that. Honestly the reason why I disliked RTK so much and it looks like kingdom is going to be the same way. Sad.

Also, each account has to vote for 3 groups not just the one we want to vote for. So it also means that other people were not voting for iKON either. 3rd gen fandoms are also less likely to create multiple accounts to vote which is unfortunate since that’s how votes and views are counted now and 4th gen fandoms are pros at it.
Call me weird but I really am so satisfied how iKON have a diff approach on their performamces for Kingdom. They didn't lose their color but instead they learn from other grps, so now they are mixing their original colors to give something new that is still iKON.
I honestly prefer iKON’s style, I like the hype, the concert feelings (even more in this pandemic we’re living bc we can’t do that), the charisma, their freedom, that’s what I love and I hope they don’t change that, iKON only need their mics on and water bottles to make a perfomance legendary🤗

For their performance of "No Air" The Boyz was inspired by Game of Thrones, in fact "A song of Ice and Fire" is the name of the series of novels. I'm not even a fan of them but personally I loved it because the stage was really well made and I'm a very big fan of GOT too!

Personally like you, I was worried about BTOB and wouldn't think they would be a threat to newer groups, but I was taken aback by both their performances! They were astonishingly great! These days kpop is about hard choreographies, theories...but BTOB proved me wrong! They showed that just with their vocals filled with emotions, they can make my heart skip a beat and put my eyes in tears! After this I watched all their other performances, concerts and everything and they were great! I don't even know how to put it into words! Of course before kingdom I was in love with their recent comeback 'Show Your Love' which is a great song but didn't know much about their other songs and extraordinary skills!
It really makes me very happy to see Ateez's talent finally noticed. Although Atiny is not very huge as Stay or Ikonic , I hope Ateez will complete this competition with a good ranking. To scratch the minds of the Koreans with their performance that Ateez wants. and they finally started doing it.
ikon's stage was based on lalaland aka the movie that gave B.I the idea of love scenario huhu and there was the girl's voice of bigbang's let's not fall in love, yg fam crumbs T-T
My top 3 in each round is: Solo dance: Taeyang's solo is surely my favourite!! then i can't really rank the others because they were all so good! Introduction stage: 1) BTOB / 2) iKON / 3) SKZ First round: 1) ATEEZ 2) iKON 3) SF9 I was so sad when *spoiler alert* I knew that iKON and SF9 were at the bottom of the ranks ... Being a multifandom is so hard honestly ...

I ult almost every group here but The Boyz... they are just different to me, i dont even know anymore if im being biased or what but everything they have done has been my favorite so far.
I would really like to say kudos to TBZ for all the concepts and creativity they are bringing in. Meeting expectations due to their legendary RTK performances aren't easy. YET, every single performance is something NEW and they aren't afraid of trying different genres and styles. I've watched so many K-POP performances yet none of TBZ's ideas have been done before which I think is really something to commend on. From a small company, without any sunbaes/hoobaes, working their way up from RTK and fighting against such big groups now in Kingdom, I really wish TBZ will do well and gain the recognition they deserve even if they do not win since the voting criterias are really against their favor.

I was blown away by btob i already realy respect and like them but seeing them adjust to the "kingdom style" of performance just made them 10x better than theyre already are! Like i was speechless! But also cnt wait to see your reaction to ATEEZ lmao i just know thats some good content coming lol

I just wanna thanks you a lot for making this up. I really enjoy every single of your reaction of artists, especially im also learning some of your opinions or it helps me to know more from the artists. First, I did not have much attention for the background music but i love it cause i heard so much Stray Kids songs such as 19, Ex and Blueprint, Slump. Now, in your reaction, i have a suggestion, i always supporting kpop reactors and im subscribed to a channel which also reacts from tv shows like this Kingdom, and i feel like this is easier for you to make a TH-cam version of your reaction, that channel partially make the video transparent, and i would suggest you put a clear plain white background on the partially transparent video of the performances, it is because i feel like i cant skip every moment you react to every moment of their performance (but it's still up to you, i will still appreciate it❤️) The stage set budget issuestarted during the 1st round and it didn't affect the solo representative video. (Plus we have thes same fave which is Yangyang-and im not yet a fan of SF9-im processing 😁) I feel like the Intro stage was supposed to be like that like the 90s from RTK and intro stave of Queendom, it is because if they'll put too much, audience will probably expect more or theylle have much a higher expectation, the intro is just being them, introducing themselves, and they are ready to give better performances. (My fave was Stray Kids but no one is gonna beat The Boyz intro stage in RTK, well i expected a lot more, so yeah Stray Kids is my pick here) On the ep 3, ill pick from the 3 since you haven't uploaded the lates episode that completes the round. My fave is The Boyz, and it is because even without the other props there it would be still so.muvh impactful olus i really love tbe remix, olease find out what will be my ranking on the 1st round as i will also look forward of yours. Love your reaction and I found that I have such similar feelings like yours! I used to be kind of YG fan and so after watching iKON's performance I got that vibe again and I quite miss that. But I prefer them to perform just one song to complete their story and highlight their themes and vibes. My ranking on 100s performances is also similar like yours! Will wait the next reaction!

Thank you for appreciating iKON's performance even though their stage is simple bcs that Msnake didn't inform iKON abt the budget. Experts are not even aware of the unfairness of Mnet when they judged the groups. I feel so bad for iKON, BtoB, and SF9. Other than that, all groups did a great job showing their colors and uniqueness
Yay!!! Coco your reactions are always so nice. Some info; Rowoon was still dealing with his back injury during episode 1 and had just got the ok to perform again but didn’t have rehearsal time episode 2/3. He will be back next week! And episode 1 performances were supposed to be songs the groups got a win with. With The Boyz episode 1 performance they actually incorporated small pieces from the RTK groups performances within their own choreo.
So, A Song of Ice and Fire is the Book series Game of Thrones is based on. In the books there is group called the Others. This seems to be based on the story of the Night Queen.
I love the idea that each group is bringing something so different to the show! I watch RTK, while really enjoying the show, I felt the groups were appoarching the performance in a similar way (probbaly due to how MNET was arranging the show). So when Kingdom was annouced, I was so worried to see all groups doing the same concept. I am glad they all decide to approach their own way, and really hope it stays that way. It really makes the show much more entertaining to watch with different type of performance
I’m an iKONIC and I’m worried of how iKON is gonna adjust them in this show, from ep2 I’d say there’s something missing (probably because of the adjustment required), but I believe our boys will get better & stronger 🤍
i personally loved btob's performance for the second round. it was so pure, yet beautiful and had a plot twist. While they stepped up their game, they still stay true to their group's colour. For ikon i really love killing me part and i love the concept twist that they went through, however, due to the first half it felt very flat and forgettable. For tbz, i love the change of concept and it was amazing how they transformed a song , however, the props were overtaking the stage when they didn't need that much at all. As a perspective of a dancer, you should never let the stage eat u up.
Ep 4 is going to be a roller coaster, I really don’t know how they are gonna rank everyone 😭 I swear every performance that I saw on the preview is just so amazing 😌

Personally like you, I was worried about BTOB and wouldn't think they would be a threat to newer groups, but I was taken aback by both their performances!
They were astonishingly great! These days kpop is about hard choreographies, theories...but BTOB proved me wrong! They showed that just with their vocals filled with emotions, they can make my heart skip a beat and put my eyes in tears!
After this I watched all their other performances, concerts and everything and they were great! I don't even know how to put it into words!
Of course before kingdom I was in love with their recent comeback 'Show Your Love' which is a great song but didn't know much about their other songs and extraordinary skills!
It really makes me very happy to see Ateez's talent finally noticed. Although Atiny is not very huge as Stay or Ikonic , I hope Ateez will complete this competition with a good ranking. To scratch the minds of the Koreans with their performance that Ateez wants. and they finally started doing it.
ikon's stage was based on lalaland aka the movie that gave B.I the idea of love scenario huhu and there was the girl's voice of bigbang's let's not fall in love, yg fam crumbs T-T

I would really like to say kudos to TBZ for all the concepts and creativity they are bringing in. Meeting expectations due to their legendary RTK performances aren't easy. YET, every single performance is something NEW and they aren't afraid of trying different genres and styles. I've watched so many K-POP performances yet none of TBZ's ideas have been done before which I think is really something to commend on.
From a small company, without any sunbaes/hoobaes, working their way up from RTK and fighting against such big groups now in Kingdom, I really wish TBZ will do well and gain the recognition they deserve even if they do not win since the voting criterias are really against their favor.
Yes. I just want them to be recognized atleast because I really doubt they’ll win Kingdom. 😭 Their criteria sucks. I feel sorry for my boys seeing them last in global votes ranking in the latest ep. Nevertheless, I still think their performances are the best.

I just wanna thanks you a lot for making this up. I really enjoy every single of your reaction of artists, especially im also learning some of your opinions or it helps me to know more from the artists.
First, I did not have much attention for the background music but i love it cause i heard so much Stray Kids songs such as 19, Ex and Blueprint, Slump.
Now, in your reaction, i have a suggestion, i always supporting kpop reactors and im subscribed to a channel which also reacts from tv shows like this Kingdom, and i feel like this is easier for you to make a TH-cam version of your reaction, that channel partially make the video transparent, and i would suggest you put a clear plain white background on the partially transparent video of the performances, it is because i feel like i cant skip every moment you react to every moment of their performance (but it's still up to you, i will still appreciate it❤️)
The stage set budget issuestarted during the 1st round and it didn't affect the solo representative video. (Plus we have thes same fave which is Yangyang-and im not yet a fan of SF9-im processing 😁)
I feel like the Intro stage was supposed to be like that like the 90s from RTK and intro stave of Queendom, it is because if they'll put too much, audience will probably expect more or theylle have much a higher expectation, the intro is just being them, introducing themselves, and they are ready to give better performances. (My fave was Stray Kids but no one is gonna beat The Boyz intro stage in RTK, well i expected a lot more, so yeah Stray Kids is my pick here)
On the ep 3, ill pick from the 3 since you haven't uploaded the lates episode that completes the round. My fave is The Boyz, and it is because even without the other props there it would be still so.muvh impactful olus i really love tbe remix, olease find out what will be my ranking on the 1st round as i will also look forward of yours.

Love your reaction and I found that I have such similar feelings like yours! I used to be kind of YG fan and so after watching iKON's performance I got that vibe again and I quite miss that. But I prefer them to perform just one song to complete their story and highlight their themes and vibes. My ranking on 100s performances is also similar like yours! Will wait the next reaction!

Thank you for appreciating iKON's performance even though their stage is simple bcs that Msnake didn't inform iKON abt the budget. Experts are not even aware of the unfairness of Mnet when they judged the groups. I feel so bad for iKON, BtoB, and SF9. Other than that, all groups did a great job showing their colors and uniqueness
Their performance was simple yet so appealing that i literally streamed their songs and i was not an ikonic

Some info; Rowoon was still dealing with his back injury during episode 1 and had just got the ok to perform again but didn’t have rehearsal time episode 2/3. He will be back next week! And episode 1 performances were supposed to be songs the groups got a win with. With The Boyz episode 1 performance they actually incorporated small pieces from the RTK groups performances within their own choreo.

So, A Song of Ice and Fire is the Book series Game of Thrones is based on. In the books there is group called the Others. This seems to be based on the story of the Night Queen.

I love all the groups and my favorite part of the show is the interaction between them as well how inspiring each performance is for every group.
I love the idea that each group is bringing something so different to the show! I watch RTK, while really enjoying the show, I felt the groups were appoarching the performance in a similar way (probbaly due to how MNET was arranging the show). So when Kingdom was annouced, I was so worried to see all groups doing the same concept. I am glad they all decide to approach their own way, and really hope it stays that way. It really makes the show much more entertaining to watch with different type of performance
I’m an iKONIC and I’m worried of how iKON is gonna adjust them in this show, from ep2 I’d say there’s something missing (probably because of the adjustment required), but I believe our boys will get better & stronger 🤍
Can I just say this, you're the most pleasant reactor/kpop youtuber.
i personally loved btob's performance for the second round. it was so pure, yet beautiful and had a plot twist. While they stepped up their game, they still stay true to their group's colour. For ikon i really love killing me part and i love the concept twist that they went through, however, due to the first half it felt very flat and forgettable. For tbz, i love the change of concept and it was amazing how they transformed a song , however, the props were overtaking the stage when they didn't need that much at all. As a perspective of a dancer, you should never let the stage eat u up.
I'm patiently waiting for the return of Queendom
I hope they follow kingdom precedence to make road to quendom first ....
