    You had the perfect timing for your video.The Trees cant get even more yellow than that.The pictures turned out fantastic. 👌With the current npoint & shoot prices, the small plastic cameras have really become a good option.

      If I was there a week earlier, there would’ve been more yellow trees 😝 a lot of them already shed which was a bit sad, but still pretty good! A lot of kids want point & shoots nowadays, it’s definitely driving up prices haha. Fuji or Nikon should just make a limited edition film point & shoot camera 😂 I’m sure people will buy it even if it’s a little expensive 😣

    Thanks a lot for sharing. Good explanation of the advantages and disadvantages of these cameras. They are great for anyone who want to start with film photography, esp. young people, as they require no technical expertise, and if they get damaged there will be no tears... My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic (no, it didn't take instant pictures and it had no automatic, just a fancy name), and I loved it. -- Considering the prices for color films today, one might consider saving up for a better (used) camera, which will deliver a better picture quality.

    • @Bonsees
      @Bonsees  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I’ve been thinking more about that lately, like is using a $12 film in one of these still justifiable? Haha I think it’s more of an experiential/stylistic choice now, like how some photographers choose to make art with Holgas

  • @AlineCrisfa

    I really was expecting for this video! I tried to get a Dubblefilm but unfortunally that was not possible bc I live in brazil and the taxes we pay here for importations are really expensive, I mean it is the the same as the camera's price. At this, add the euro conversion to our local currency and turns out this does not worth it. It's almost a basic wage here. So, after a lot of research, I decided to buy a Vibe Photo. I already took the photos but havent seen the results yet. Thank you for this video, now I got more excited to see the results as fast as possible.

    • @Bonsees
      @Bonsees  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Damn, that’s a high import tax! Yeah, this is pretty much the same as the dubblefilm show so it’s good you didn’t have to pay as much. I hope you enjoy your results! 😊

    • @Bonsees
      @Bonsees  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any from the Ilford Sprite, Agfa photo, Dubblefilm show, and Kodak line. They’re all pretty much the same (including this) lol when it comes to the quality of images you’ll get. But they’re easier to load with film compared to something like the Yashica MF-1

  • @rhinonostril
    @rhinonostril 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I doubt the aperture is fixed at f8 - f8 on the lens means the maximum aperture is f8 and then the camera automatically stops down to f11 or more when the light changes. If the aperture is fixed and the shutter speed is fixed and your ISO is fixed because of the film you use, you would really struggle to get correctly exposed photographs most of the time. So I think the aperture is the one that moves up and down with a max of f8.

    • @Bonsees
      @Bonsees  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. The aperture mechanisms in these cameras are literally just a hole with no aperture blades to stop down. It doesn't have a light sensor to assess lighting conditions as point and shoots do. And it's also not like some of the Holgas/Dianas where you can manually change which aperture hole you are using. The only "variable setting" is really just the film ISO.

    Just ordered this as my first film camera. What film can be used that is more than 36 exposures?

    • @Bonsees
      @Bonsees  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Afaik, there isn’t a film roll that has more than 36 exposures because of the physical limitations of film (you can maybe get up to 38 shots from a 36 exposure roll though)

  • @akmalkimie8965
    @akmalkimie8965 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good explanation. But i don't really got a point when you said 'it will get only 70% from your view-finder'. So I have to go step forward to make it look like on viewfinder? How can I overcome it when I want to develop it and I want to make it a perfect one?

    • @Bonsees
      @Bonsees  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Think of it this way, what the lens sees is 100% (the whole picture) but the viewfinder only sees 70% of that picture (so you’re only seeing a smaller rectangle inside the whole rectangle). If you want to have an idea of what the full picture would look like, compose your shot then step back maybe 3-5 steps to see more of the scene, then go back to your initial position and take a photo. I don’t really recommend this though, I’d say just embrace the limitation. If you really want a “what you see is what you get” kind of viewfinder, then I suggest checking out SLR cameras like the Minolta SRT 101. Hope this helps

    • @Bonsees
      @Bonsees  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re quite different. I made a video about the Reto UWS too if you wanna see what one could do with it. The Reto UWS has a wide lens so you’d be able to take more of the scene in your photos. The Reto UWS is also smaller, but it doesn’t have a flash. So if you like using the flash or having the option in general, then go for this one (or check out the Agfa photo film camera and Ilford Sprite)

    I have one and followed all instructions here. I wonder what's wrong with my camera. I used a Vibe 400 Black & White 36EXP but I could only take like 12-13 photos with it. And it doesn't take more. I ended up unloading the film. This happens to all films I've used. I can't seem to find what's wrong

    • @Bonsees
      @Bonsees  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm I think you’re the second person who brought this up. I’m not entirely sure what could be happening. Is it getting stuck and you can’t turn the film advance wheel anymore? Or at some point, the film advance just keeps turning without loading the shutter?
      I haven’t experienced this myself so I’m not sure how to troubleshoot, but I wonder if it’s because the film gets dislodged or misaligned so at some point it clogs the gears. I wonder if advancing the film more slowly might help? Not sure 😅 sorry

      I’d go for either Kodak or Vibe, if you’re looking at those. The M38 is the same as the M35 but has a brighter flash. The lomo simple use is good too, I’ve had mine since 2018, but it’s more fiddly to reload than the others.

    • @Bonsees
      @Bonsees  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Vishal. Yeah, a lot of these cameras are the same, but there seems to be two main groups: 1. those like the lomo simple use camera and yashica mf-1, and 2. those like the ilford sprite or agfa photo camera (vibe 501F, kodak ultra f9, etc.). You can basically tell that these cameras are sort of the same based on their aesthetics, but I find that group 2 has a bit better image quality (to my eyes, at least)

    What's the point of these? An old used 35mm P&S does everything these do while being massively cheaper.

    • @Bonsees
      @Bonsees  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think there's a time and place for everything. These are for people who like the bare-bones experience of shooting disposable cameras but want to be able to reuse them. It's true that point and shoots are more capable, but they offer a different experience. A lot of P&S are also starting to get fragile with age, and the more famous ones aren't that cheap either. As for the price, yeah, these are a bit expensive for what they are, at least in North America, but they are actually cheaper in Asia. Also, depending on where you buy them (and brands like Ilford and Kodak), they're still reasonable at around $35
