Stop the cameras, deadass, Colleen is real?? After all this time we have actual, picture evidence that Ms Colleen is indeed an actual human and not part of Sandra's cocktail-induced imagination? I. Am. Shookt.
Jokes aside, I love how Sandra feels so real. Like, despite the obvious money gap between her and us plebs, but she's so warm, feels so approachable like that fun relative we havent seen in a while who brings gifts and physical affection where there was none. Also lmao @ b-list nephews and nieces. Sandra is very family-oriented and I love that.

All banter aside, Aunt Sandy is such a hardworking inspiring woman. She seems like such a cool and fun woman to be around. I hope hope hope she’s a lovely person in real life.
She deserves the label gay icon. She’s amazing!

I’m watching this right now, and Mally is such a hot mess of a host 🤣🤣 But I’m living for our auntie’s unfiltered and real personality. Lots of honesty here that’s making me chuckle.

I really need whatever pills/supplements Mally is taking because her vibe is always so on point.

So I’ve always wanted to give some context to Aunt Sandy and the launch of SHM. She says here and has said in the past she originally wanted a crafting/decorating show on HGTV, so the tablescapes, kitchenscapes and cocktails on SHM were really a compromise by her and Food Network. To her credit, her cooking skills improved significantly in the later seasons of SHM and into MSM.
Obviously, she and her show received a lot of flak from various people over the years wondering how she of all people got a cooking show. When Food Network launched in the early ’90s, it was very much a niche channel catered to foodies and gourmets. They had mostly professional programming by professional chefs. Then starting around 2000 and after, there was a very clear shift towards appealing to the ’average home cook’. Thus, we started getting the likes of Aunt Sandy, Ina, Paula, Rachael and Giada. Even Bobby Flay toned down his gourmet image considerably compared to his beginnings on the network. The whole point was to make cooking at home accessible and possible.
While the semi-homemade concept might’ve seemed strange for the biggest cooking channel on cable, it wasn’t strange at all in context of the type of programming the network wanted at the time.

Preach! Esp on MSM Sandra gave us a lot of goodies. I do believe that SHM has some value as an idea, it was just too ahead of its time and smashed off cocktail time. Like, most recipies don't sound too bad, we should/would obviously change which ingredients are fresh and what store-bought to use, but Sandra had a sharp eye for sweets (the expresso episode with Kari and Kim is great) and cocktails and nobody can deny that

I can’t think of anyone else who’s done so much for the vanilla vodka, artichoke and angel food cake communities.

This video only has twenty comments and it’s disGUSTing. This belongs in a museum. Hof level wildness. Sandy is the goat but this is school. Host is KILLING it. Unparalleled access interview, Barbara Wawa wishes. Impossible to overstate. This is gay cinema. Lynchian but doesn’t insist upon itself. These women have ascended. One of the greatest hours of television I’ve ever seen. 🎉 10/10 fr all-timer
