    What’s crazy is Alex beat him 8-3 in the room.
    Kazakh shows up. He had an awesome 3rd place finish wrestles all the way back from taking a loss in the first round. And he recently beat the number 5th ranked guy in the country!

      I’m a Kasak fan, but in these kinds of 1 takedown matches it really could go either way. If they wrestled 10 times it might go 5-5, so it’s not unreasonable to think that Alex won in the room. It’s not like Tyler dominated him.

      @colintainter4856 it's so cliche to say it could go 5-5 just because it was a close match. I wrestled my rival in high school wrestled 7 times. I was 7-0 against him i beat him by 1 point 6 times and by 3 points once. Kasak is better. Hes not cutting nearly as much weight and while the match was close, Facundo couldn't generate any offense. I say if they wrestled 5 times, Kasak wins all 5 albeit all 5 matches would be very close.

    In college wrestling how do wrestle off’s work? Is it one wrestle off match before the season starts to determine the starter or can you wrestle off weekly to try and get the starting spot ?

      @@makmillion1981 It isn't really like high school. In college, wrestle off results are only one of several factors used to determine the starter. Other considerations are how do you do against live competition, do you have a red shirt left, what is your future potential as determined by the coaches, etc.
      Coaches generally like to settle on a starter and stay with that guy throughout the season in order to build a record for conference and Nationals seeding purposes.

      That's super intelligent. It's your spot until you lose a match. If you're undefeated outside the room then it doesn't matter what happens inside the room. It's still your spot.

      Sucks to see great guys peak in high school and have no opportunity to perform afterwards

    • @rossogden9920
      @rossogden9920 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @Khaja7817 Technically he had all the opportunity in the World to perform.
      He underperformed 'normal' Penn State standards in 22-23 as a 165 pounder, had to take a red shirt last year because he had zero chance to beat Levi, Mitch, or Carter, and now loses to a dude who was a 141 pounder 12 months ago.
      With Kasak and Mitch both only sophomores, Levi a junior, and PJ Duke on the way, I can't see where he fits in in the future either. He's going to have to transfer if he wants to get on the mat.
      Maybe back to Michigan to wrestler for the Wolverines?

      @@Khaja7817 That only happens to average athletes who had great coaches in HS. Once they hit college and run into guys with similar skills they lose to the better athlete. I've seen many HS state champs flounder at the college level, and I've seen guys who did less well in HS thrive once they actually got quality coaching in D1, like Stephen Neal who never finished higher than 4th in state in HS but who won 2 NCAA D1 championships.
