These dancers are definately not stressed, all there movements into lines and lifts are smooth and effortless. There technique is really good, they are expressive, entertaining and amazing latin dancers.
Also to those who comment on the music not being samba.. Look at modern ballet.. they dance to rock ballads.. Open your mind people, this is art! It doesnt have to be locked in the drawer of "strictly traditional and dont try to change it". Its called EVOLUTION and ART.
Ambos me parecen grandes bailarines.
All of you are correct in some sense. Samba is a Portuguese word which means "A blow struck with the Belly Button". But the dance itself was introduced in Brazil ( Rio de Janeiro) by West African during the slave trade. It is a religious dance, which is now considered in Brazillian Carnival. Some thought Samba is an African word means Give and Receive or Things falls.
Ok now i know why people are saying its not samba...most of the music doesn't have the samba beat we all know but the dance is samba...Great samba ballroom dancing...
SAMBA is STRICTLY BRAZILIAN MUSIC AND SINGLE! Does not arise elsewhere in the world, This is a Mexican music and dancing to rumba! Not even danced samba! Good presentation of RUMBA!
When I searched samba dance,I found this.I don't know specifically what samba is.But this dance is amazing.I can't imitate those moves. Are those Spanish Flamenco movements?Male dancer's hand moves are fast and female dancer's hip moves are great.
@andreazima It's International Ballroom Samba. It originated from Brazilian Samba (That's why the English called it Samba), but it has changed so much during the last 70 years. So now we have this.
This is a samba showdance. It's an exhibition which features some elements of ballroom Samba. It's not Brazilian samba and it's not competitive samba and it's not meant to be. Chill out folks! And by the way, they're not American; this is Beata and Michael Wentink who represented South Africa.
The WSSL 2003 got almost this identical samba with a few different variatiosn they put in it.. This one is stil 10/10 in my book.. Really crafty and they were really so confident and playing with the music especially in the last half which was really enjoyable. What year was this performance?
I guess after watching some of the videos of "Brazilian samba" they should rename it, because what they're doing here is ten times better than the "Brazilian Samba" I've seen posted on TH-cam and even in Brazil! She and he have better body movement and sense of direction than you'll see in those videos.
This is International Dancesport Latin Samba, no question. Look at World super star shows, blackpool festival and others. It originates from brasialian traditional samba but evolved a lot. Picasso didnt paint like Michael angelo, but it doesnt make him not a painter and a great one. There is a lot more technique to it than brasilian ass shaking lol
many are confused from ballroom samba and bazillian samba..those two areentirely different types of dances even though ballroom samba originated from brazillian samba.. it'd up to you whether you like the one from the other, no one should force you to choose but please dont trash talk if you disagree with what you are watching because those dancers train their butt off to perfect their movements.. tnx for listening to my opinion,, ( i mean reading).. good day ^^
I know this isn't supposed to be funny but when the guy started really dancing at 00:46 I started laughing so hard I almost couldn't breathe! BAHAHAHA!
Well... it may not be Brazilian Samba but I can say this... there is far more technique in what these two are doing than Brazilian Samba. True dancers who are passionate about dance appreciate all types of dance. So everyone just needs to get over it and if you dont agree with it then dont watch it.
@anonymous10001000 It is. But we are talking about language here. Nobody wants to say International Ballroom Samba all the time. So it is shortened to Samba and refer to Samba as Brazillian Samba to distinguish. Somebody in Brazil would still understand Samba as Samba.
@anonymous10001000 but it is ALSO an english word. Look it up in the dictionary. "samba comes from an African word, and has eventually integrated itself with Brazilian Portuguese." And it has also "integrated itself with english"
@gingermist21 doesnt matter, brazilian samba came first..........and brazilian samba isnt about competition, it's a social dance, so u can't say "one is better than the other"
@anonymos10001000 I agree with you, They should call this dance another name I do not understand why call it samba if it has NOTHING to do with samba... than people have to say International ballroom and Brazilian before todistinguish both. Same thing if you call both languages from USA and Japan the same name!! English and Japonese has nothing to do with each other!!!
While this is a gynastic routine and full of energy, it lacks rythm. They need to look at the Samba being a dance, not an exercise They are both very fit, so adapting wouldn't be an issue.
actually it is a samba.... bad choice in the music but it is.... It is a International Samba... NOT a Brazilian Samba..... Totally different dances. This dance in the video is part of International latin dance
@seravi that really has nothing to do with it "samba" and "tango" are not English words samba comes from an African word, and has eventually integrated itself with Brazilian Portuguese. also im not quite sure where the word tango comes from but its definitely not english!
@masajeszonanorte Cause when I search for "samba" on youtube, I get videos with moves in this performance. Mean while, when I search "pop-latino" I get something ^_^
would you please stop saying "IT'S NOT SAMBAAA IT'S NOT SAMBAAAA!!!!" ....read the comments before posting something.....THIS IS BALLROOM SAMBA...INTERNATIONAL SAMBA...DANCE SPORT SAMBA!!! call it however you want, but stop saying it's not samba...the samba it's not only brasilian
These dancers are definately not stressed, all there movements into lines and lifts are smooth and effortless. There technique is really good, they are expressive, entertaining and amazing latin dancers.
I love the way they dance and they are always putting new music and changing it up. Kickass!
Wow, Michael & Beata look incredible here!
Also to those who comment on the music not being samba.. Look at modern ballet.. they dance to rock ballads.. Open your mind people, this is art! It doesnt have to be locked in the drawer of "strictly traditional and dont try to change it". Its called EVOLUTION and ART.

SAMBA is STRICTLY BRAZILIAN MUSIC AND SINGLE! Does not arise elsewhere in the world, This is a Mexican music and dancing to rumba! Not even danced samba! Good presentation of RUMBA!

Sehr schön getanzt!

FYI for those of you who dislike this video. This is international Latin style..there is no point to compare Brazil samba with it here.
I like they dance. They perform the samba dance very good
this is international latin dancesport a competitive style of samba
michael and beata
wow.. I'm speachless
I guess after watching some of the videos of "Brazilian samba" they should rename it, because what they're doing here is ten times better than the "Brazilian Samba" I've seen posted on TH-cam and even in Brazil! She and he have better body movement and sense of direction than you'll see in those videos.
It's my dream to dance like them! ♥

This is International Dancesport Latin Samba, no question. Look at World super star shows, blackpool festival and others. It originates from brasialian traditional samba but evolved a lot.
It's the international dancesport Samba - known & used by the rest of the world.

And it has also "integrated itself with english"

This dance is known internationally as International Ballroom Samba - differs from Samba de Gafieira.
Ball room dancers will do the same moves to any music.
Where appeared this rhythm? I know than is International Balroon Samba, but I want to know the original country.
They should call it SAMBA!!
Where can I find a good Samba video? These dancers are fabulous, but I want to see the ROOTS. What exactly is it supposed to look like?
@blackbutterfly386 it's called 'wherever, whenever'
@mariangelafortes Nah, this is not Samba. It's International Ballroom Samba, just in case you're stuck in Brazil for the last 50 years ^_^.
@gingermist21 doesnt matter, brazilian samba came first..........and brazilian samba isnt about competition, it's a social dance, so u can't say "one is better than the other"

@Papumrock This is a Samba! It's ballroom dancing and no brazilian women!
While this is a gynastic routine and full of energy, it lacks rythm. They need to look at the Samba being a dance, not an exercise They are both very fit, so adapting wouldn't be an issue.
