This is an no mods *, vanilla, Cities Skylines let's play series with a focus on creating realistic city design with lots of detail. We'll be building a fully functional and efficient city with mass transit networks, tourism and industry including all DLC and content creator packs. The series is based on mostly live game play mixed in with detailing timelapse's. * I use line tool and forest brush to speed up the recording process and be able to produce more content for you!

Thornton is a cool city name! and perhaps as a nice nod to Solitude this city could be where the Thornbury family comes from ( Betty Bruce and bob) you could perhaps even do a country estate build as their family home call it Thornbury estate!

Awesome suggestion, I agree with this; Minneapolis/St. Paul vibes. You’ll see people do a downtown area and maybe a secondary smaller business park/district but you don’t see people do a twin cities type of build. This gives me some ideas for my final CS1 build.

Few Candy is now Vanilla Candy!! What an amazing surprise and I'm soooo excited to see what you can do with the vanilla game mechanics!! I actually love the mix of the CCP trees with the vanilla trees - it actually looks quite nice all mixed into your forest brush :) no doubt OE's work will be a constant source of inspiration for this build too.
Before I even hit play, I just wanna say I smashed the like button. I've built at least once on just about every map; new day new map is generally how I play, LOL. I LOVE new starts! haha

Great to see a vanilla city! I've been waiting to watch a new vanilla city. Might I suggest building the CBD on the point where the rivers meet. I think the city could be named after the first citizen, so perhaps Graysville or Fort Gray. Or something along the lines of Gray. Plus given its a vanilla build, one could say it's a little bit grey! Lol! I've been thoroughly enjoying watching your Auridon series, and I can't wait to see how this new vanilla city eventuates.

You make a vanilla build so comforting and cozy to watch. Your details bring it to life. Such a sweet town. I like that the baseball field is in a pit, and I think the locals would call it just that, "The Pit" -and a diner nearby for the players and fans also called, The Pit. Another commenter said to call this town Tyler, after the first citizen, and that is SUCH a small town name (here in the US in rural towns) that I think it is perfect. LOVE this new series.

I like the way Egg thinks with Thornton. Viennetta is also an old favourite british ice-cream brand that do great vanilla ice-cream! - the chocolate layers can be each DLC with a sprinkling of QOL mods used ;)

I really wanted to see you play Vanilla cos I just knew you would knock it out of the park with the detailing even without mods, and you really did!! This was so beautiful. My favourite part is the interchange and view coming into the city (with the mountains in the distance forming a perfect background to the large boulder formation in the foreground), followed closely by the green belt in the residential area.
This is tempting me to remove all my mods and try vanilla again too haha in any case, can't wait to see this city grow!

this inspires me so much in my own vanilla build! thanks for painting such a colorful picture of what this base game is capable of with just a little attention and patience! As for the name, I nominate Denouement (pronounced Day-New-Mont) and it is representative to the final act of a play or performance. I think that would be perfect for a final CS1 city!!

Depending on how long it takes for my favorite mods to get updated, I may need to start a mostly vanilla city. Especially since in a few months all of us will be going vanilla with CS2.

That is one gorgeous interchange, and it amazes me you can do that without mods. I love the rocky detailing! I am also looking forward to the redo of the industry. I am hoping to see some industrial evolution-so good to be able to have some Avanya 🏭 in unmodded builds now.
I am surprised you went with the vanilla coal plant, even for temporary use. The new “clean coal” plant is SO much better looking. I generally go renewable not so much for eco reasons, but just because that coal plant looks so bad, and now there is another option.
Will definitely be getting a avanyas assets in nice and early!

Today as my Vanilla build comes to an end I finally allow myself to watch a vanilla series to see how I should of done it… And I can’t think of anyone better than you FC. As u can probably tell I haven’t even watched your video (It’s paused @2:08) so I’m gonna kick back with a coffee and let my vanilla educational journey begin see ya at the end

I've been thinking of starting a city on this map myself. I'm a sucker for rivers and mountains since they remind me a bit of the area where I actually live.
It’s a really beautiful map! If you don’t look at the networks lol
Amazing game,,just got into these type of games in ps5 and loving them.
Last one being anno 1800,,another superb game.
A good tip for newer players just starting their city is to lower the budget for their utilities early on if they are overproducing. If your city isn’t using nearly as much water, sewage, electricity, etc. early on, new players will find that adjusting the budget slider down will be a great way to make more money early on as they wait for their city to grow in population.

Nice surprise! I've got a feeling we're about to see just what amazing things can be done with vanilla tools. Downtown: it would most likely be by the river, considering land values will skyrocket there with time. If it's somewhere else, you'll just end up with 2 skylines if you zone high density by the river (which might have its own benefits when you go for banks), which, if you do it on the other side of the river, might just be considered the neighbouring town. :)
Also, nice double overpass with roundabout, by the way. Just built one in a city of mine this week, but I went tunnel for the local road, level for the roundabout and elevated for the highway. I'm finding it surprisingly robust in terms of traffic capacity. :)
