Thanks for the transparency. Would love to see an in-depth review of the cargo area with both the third row and second row seats down. There's a lot to like about the TRD Pro, but the seats not folding flat is almost a deal breaker for me.
same here ,some of us have no need, want or will ever use the 3rd row , I need cargo space payload towing but like the utility of a wagon or suv shorter wheel base and better looking grille than the tundra this is a life style off roader not a family school bus just saying
I love everything about the new Sequoia however I also must have the cargo space. The way it is not will not work at all. It makes this a non-purchase for me.

Isn't the reason the Land Cruiser 200 series wasn't selling well in North America is because of the high price tag? For $80K, I'd rather buy a Land Cruiser that's made in Japan with much better use of materials and build quality. $80K for a Texas built Sequoia...Toyota is out of their mind.
I put a 2014 Jeep Sahara Unlimited into a 2018 Toyota LandCruiser and owed $50,800. Two years without payments, 31,500 miles, Silver with Black interior. Still book value around $80k on the North Carolina market. Doubt I could trade even for the Sequoia but I'm getting the feeling I may investigate that option in December, year end inventory
Sequoia is very nice and drives very well. I’m afraid is just isn’t up to par with Land Cruiser quality like the GX 460. You could have actually saved money, gained full time 4 wheel drive, plus all the comforts, reliability of the v8, & true Japanese quality.
I am keeping my Second Gen. I really wish they kept the 5.7 . Turbos are scary for me epeceially once they wear out. i do like the look of the new ones. Congrats.
78k for new seqouia is too expensive for me to afford. I am keeping mine too second gen 08 seqouia. Still drives like same as new maybe because it is only 105k miles. Comfortable for long drives and never gave me a problem. For 14 years i did oil changes myself, brakes pads, tranny oil change, differential/transfer case oil, and radiator fluid. That’s all i did.
Wow it’s nice looking and everything but damn over $80k. I’m glad I was able to find a 2018 Sequoia with 37k mile on the clock for $44,500. It’s an SR5 but it has all the bells and whistles that you can get with the SR5. Almos half the price of a new one. Insane how the car market has almost double. Enjoy the truck it’s beautiful!
That's an insanely high price. Considering Toyota pulled out Land Cruiser Series 200 because it was not selling - and it was around $83K starting price, I cannot understand how does Toyota expects to sell this one in higher numbers than Land Cruiser. Ok, the LC was overlapping with Lexus LX ... but still. Uhhh it's expensive... I would rather pay $ for Land Cruiser.
I own a 22 Tundra Platinum, I am currently shopping for a TRD sequoia and haven't been able to find or reserve one anywhere close to MSRP. Here in California, the normal I'm seeing is five grand in dealer BS non-negotiable followed by a "market adjustment" of between ten and fifteen thousand. Meaning its about $109,000 for a TRD Pro Sequoia, and I've looked at almost every dealer within eight hundred miles. Even went in to get the print ups as I was in disbelief they'd try to charge that much. EDIT: Got told to just shop out of state. Most dealers wont sell to a California resident due to people buying inventory and reselling in California. Otherwise I would!

For some perspective, a fully loaded Surburban 4x4 with 454 v8 power in 1990 cost $40,162 in todays money. And technology is not the reason for increased cost- I paid $1100 for a new 36" TV in 1990, an infinity better 36" TV today is $175.

The thing is most supply crunches are being worked through, so these vehicles should technically get cheaper new moving forward if there was ever an actual reason to justify the price to begin with. Seems scammy
I'm up in the air.... I have a 15 4runner.... in the rear I can put 8 totes in the back... I would love to see real world tests with that shelf, a sams/Costco run.. .
355toyota in Rockville, MD had a Trd pro with no additional options last month with a 20k market adjustment bringing it to 102k. I was able to bring it down to 96k out the door, but my senses kicked in and I walked away with no Sequoia.
Replace those side mirror housings for sure - what an eyesore. Also- aesthetically they screwed up the rear- it’s too remeniscent of a minivan. Thanks for the vid though - I’ll stick with my 2011 4Runner that runs as good as a brand new 5th gen for my purchase price of $17,000 used lol.
Interesting on the price. Converted to Cdn that 76K becomes 101.6K. But here they are advertised at 94-95K on Toyotas site. That being said. 2 year wait list apparently. Im glad to hear its a solid truck compared to the Tundra. My company vehicle 22 Tundra limited sits in the driveway while I drive my 17 Tundra SR5+ as i just prefer it. Not impressed with the new Tundra. Its a very early model so maybe they’ve gotten better. I don’t think we’ll be switching from my wife’s 22 4R limited with full time 4wd to the new sequoia. Bad move not sticking a full time 4wd Tcase in it. Why would they not.. they’ve got a few options to choose from in the Toyota stable. They wont be selling many of these in the snowy states/provinces as a result in my eyes. All the competitors offer it.
@@TRDJon I just dropped my tundra off at the dealership to have rear shock replaced after waiting for 5 weeks on parts. Priced Sequoia out. Would be $99,657 out the door. In 1.5 - 2 years.. 🤦🏼♂️ A civic type R is 61k out the door. In 3-4 years. They fetch more in the states so we get shafted on allocations. Anything over 100K up here gets hit with a 10% luxury tax also.. not sure if thats taken into account. Ive “heard” of some ppl who for work, buy brand new new vehicles here in Canada, and immediately ship them to them states for a profit. High end stuff like this.
I've been looking for an SUV and anything from a Sequoia to a Tahoe, Yukon, escalade, X5, X7, and any other large SUV in between and everything is around $80-$110k out the door.
Overall it’s a great looking SUV. Doesn’t fit my needs and the camo seats are a big no for me but I am jealous how easy it is to fit 35 and even 37s compared to the lc200. Curious what your mpg will be once you put on larger tires. I get 12.1 with 34s on my 200.
You know what I was just thinking you could probably find someone that will swap mirrors could not find a pick up truck or I’m not sure I have to look at the pick up truck and the SUV has the same factory mirrors
It sucks we pay so god damn much for vehicles and still get gray headliner. It’s 2022 interiors are getting better and better every year. Congratulations?
I will be so curious after a few months if you think the USA build quality is anywhere near as good as the 4 runner/ GX Japan factory build quality?????
Hi John I enjoy your video I currently own a tundra platinum 2018 and love how my truck handles, I drive my cars like i stole them, but wondering how your TRD Saquoia handles. Does it feel somewhat stiff on turns and stable? Thank you keep up the great content
Congrats Jon! Hopefully shes good to you! I agree on the mirrors. Ugly. I swap my tow mirrors on for summer towing, and when the holiday trailer goes away fir the winter I swap back the regular ones on my 17 tundra.
Please keep us posted with all the good and the bad. This is my dream car and I’m almost paid off my 19 Pilot. I’m thinking of putting $40k down, but of course depend on the APr and the potential recession 😢
Put that on a house or buy a 4runner with more cargo room or a Tahoe. This is way overpriced and even the new 4runners are nearly 25% more than what mine was listed at msrp for
@@ky7037 NO, if you can't pay for the car without a loan, you can't afford it. Your financial advice is contrary to the sum of all reasonable financial guidance.
I was thinking about trading my 2021 Tundra TRD Pro for the new TRD PRO Sequoia but I don't think it tows as much as the V8. I have a travel trailer I need to tow. The Sequoia is a beautiful car.
I'll wait for the recession to go deeper and consider buying at a lower price. When the recession gets bad they will lower interest rates so there should be a little window of lower prices and lower interest rates...hopefully in 2023.
Nice SUV. Thanks for being open about the cost and how you arrived at the final price. I would love to own one considering it’s one of the best SUVs money can buy. Congratulations.
I started looking for Sequoia months ago, but just picked up Ram 2500 Laramie with 6.7 cummins at a discounted price. Tired of waiting for Toyota and all the crazy market adjustments at my local dealers.
@TRD JON thanks, and also I feel that if I seat more than 4 passengers in the Sequoia, I will not have room for cargo. Likewise, if I use most of the room for cargo, I won't have enough room for passengers. Otherwise I would have to explore roof storage options.
I was going to buy a new LX570 for 100K then I took a step back and bought a 2013 LX570 for 28K with 100K miles on it. I took the rest of the money and put a down payment on a cabin in VT to airbnb it for the ski season and the summer. Really not worth it spending this much on things that go down in value and generate no cash flow.
For a normal consumer like you that makes sense. For me who owns a youtube based on the news of Toyota's it makes sense. This one video alone already paid for a month of payments. Plus I'll be able to depreciate it and write it of on taxes plus the miles too. So, it retrospec it actually makes me money. COngrats on the Airbnb
Nice. That is a lot of money but people pay that much for fancy cars that barely last 100,000 miles, your Sequoia will outlast you! I have a 2004 Sequoia, is positively ancient compared to yours but I love it.
I’m interested to see the digital display, I’m getting a hybrid limited tundra that’s supposed to be here early February and I’m interested how yours works on the sequoia.
It’s a beautiful truck Jon. Looking forward to some good content. I think some people forget that TH-cam is your business and that these vehicles are business expenses.
Wow. Can’t believe people are actually buying this poor redesign. Solid rear axle? Rear seats that don’t fold flat or recline? Smaller cargo area? Untested twin turbos with waste gate issues? Lack of refinement that puts it way behind the competition. On and on I could go.

The thing is most supply crunches are being worked through, so these vehicles should technically get cheaper new moving forward if there was ever an actual reason to justify the price to begin with. Seems scammy
I got the Trd sport but i dont like the tow mirrors because they are to big do you know if they can change them?
would have loved to get one but the lack of trunk space and just coughing up more cash to add kings and 35 tires is already costly haha
I'm up in the air.... I have a 15 4runner.... in the rear I can put 8 totes in the back... I would love to see real world tests with that shelf, a sams/Costco run.. .
I wanna see all the good, bad and ugly
Of course!
I’ve got mine ordered. Hopefully be in by May. Can’t wait! I got the black TRD Pro.
NICE!!!!!
Was there a markup?
You kinda covered it but I’d like to see a detailed video on fit and finish. I’m very interested in these compared to the Tundra.
Coming soon!
355toyota in Rockville, MD had a Trd pro with no additional options last month with a 20k market adjustment bringing it to 102k. I was able to bring it down to 96k out the door, but my senses kicked in and I walked away with no Sequoia.
Even at 80k, its a more sensible buy than an used over overpriced Land Cruiser that is selling at 80k+ with 30k++ miles and coming out of warantee
All the competitors offer it.
hmmm maybe that is before delivery and options? Not sure what the big price difference
@@TRDJon I just dropped my tundra off at the dealership to have rear shock replaced after waiting for 5 weeks on parts.
Priced Sequoia out. Would be $99,657 out the door. In 1.5 - 2 years.. 🤦🏼♂️
A civic type R is 61k out the door.
Per your comments. That’s why we bought one of the last LX570’s. Bought a 2021 and it’s got 2800 miles on it. It will run forever.
Oh I meant to say 2800 miles in a year.
I've been looking for an SUV and anything from a Sequoia to a Tahoe, Yukon, escalade, X5, X7, and any other large SUV in between and everything is around $80-$110k out the door.
How’s the projected resale value? Typically it’s the Tundra, Tacoma and 4Runner with the better resale values.
Jon thank you for the information and the great details
Much appreciated
No worries!
Totally agree
You know what I was just thinking you could probably find someone that will swap mirrors could not find a pick up truck or I’m not sure I have to look at the pick up truck and the SUV has the same factory mirrors
Congrats ! Marketplace is awesome !!!!!
I ❤️ your Sequoia! Best of luck with it!
I saw a fully loaded sequoia TRD pro go for 109K in the bay area. We went for a GMC Yukon SLT instead and super happy with it.
Very nice! Congrats on the new ride!
@@TRDJon same to you! Sounds like you got a pretty good deal!
It sucks we pay so god damn much for vehicles and still get gray headliner. It’s 2022 interiors are getting better and better every year. Congratulations?
Ok, I feel better about my allocation now. Going TRD Pro all the way! Thanks for the updates!
Good choice!
How did you escape the Toyota add ons for oil change. My 4runner had $600 add ons for future maintenance that was non-negotiable. Great deal BTW
This one just didn't have it which was nice
I am SO glad I bought one in 2020 with the 5.7L for $63k.
It does. I haven't hot rodded it yet, but the press vehicle ones that I did handled like a dream
Nice ride bro, this SUV has the performance with style, but the side mirrors got to go!
Facts!
I refuse to pay man I’ll just wait man patience is key .
Thanks for your honesty!
Always!
Look forward to your sharing your experiences with it.
Will do!
Congrats Jon! Hopefully shes good to you!
I agree on the mirrors. Ugly.
I swap my tow mirrors on for summer towing, and when the holiday trailer goes away fir the winter I swap back the regular ones on my 17 tundra.
Nice! Great job!
This is way overpriced and even the new 4runners are nearly 25% more than what mine was listed at msrp for
@@MeJonTheDon oh I’m not in a hurry to buy.
NEVER waste $40K cash of things that bring no value……….especially cars/trucks
Never down for a car. If you need to put a down payment, you cannot afford the car.
It tows close to 10K
That's a 180 for sure! Congrats on the new truck.
@TRD JON thanks, and also I feel that if I seat more than 4 passengers in the Sequoia, I will not have room for cargo. Likewise, if I use most of the room for cargo, I won't have enough room for passengers. Otherwise I would have to explore roof storage options.
Very nice congratulations!!I!! I placed an order on a limited one today 😊
Would love to see the supersonic color on one
Great price and awesome car. I hope I can buy one. Blessings from Gainesville FL
I think the Sequoia will have many design cues we'll see in the future 4Runner.
I hope so, except the rear
Nice. That is a lot of money but people pay that much for fancy cars that barely last 100,000 miles, your Sequoia will outlast you! I have a 2004 Sequoia, is positively ancient compared to yours but I love it.
That's the plan!
I’m interested to see the digital display, I’m getting a hybrid limited tundra that’s supposed to be here early February and I’m interested how yours works on the sequoia.
Amazing Sequoia! 👏🏼
Thanks!!!!
Might get the 2nd year version. Once they work out the bugs or Lexus GX… It’s tough decision…
GX is a little bit smaller but nice tried and true V8
Congrats! Looks amazing! :D
Thank you James.
Wow. At or Under MSRP. Good to know. I will contact them. Thx.
Let them know I sent your or you saw my video!
Wish they we’re in Alaska. Are stealership is 4k over msrp 10 for a trd pro
San Jose .. Bay Area $109k for this one
I'd love one of these, can't at that price tho
It’s a beautiful truck Jon. Looking forward to some good content. I think some people forget that TH-cam is your business and that these vehicles are business expenses.
Very true, many do unfortunately, but it is all good. I love making the content for you all.
@@TRDJon we appreciate it.
It looks great 👍
I'll get one in a few months, great video!
Wow. Can’t believe people are actually buying this poor redesign. Solid rear axle? Rear seats that don’t fold flat or recline? Smaller cargo area? Untested twin turbos with waste gate issues? Lack of refinement that puts it way behind the competition. On and on I could go.
Please don't since you are already false about most of your statements
Beautiful vehicle John!! Enjoy it for all of us that can't afford it. 😮
You can afford anything you want in life. Just gotta work for it and visualize it. It will happen
