- Picked up the new Yachtmaster 40 from our local authorised dealer, steel and platinum with dark rhodium dial January 2020, just a quick overview as there's not many around at the moment.

This is one of the best watches of all time. Got my call from the AD a few days ago!
This was my first Rolex and it was the watch that made me fall in love with horology. In my opinion, this is the most underrated watch in the Rolex catalogue.
This will be my first Rolex, there is not even a close second, this will be the one.
After two years trying to decide my first high end watch, came to this one and fall in love inmediatly. No regrets, for me, the perfect watch. Goes perfect with all outfits from casual to dressier. I bet in near future lots of watch entusiast will be looking for this piece as they are today with the submariner.
a trick : watch series on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies recently.

Wow absolutely stunning watch. The rhodium dial with the blue seconds hand and the high polish surfaces make it one of my favorite Rolex models. It blows my mind that this piece has gone so under the radar when you are getting most of the functionality of a sub while in a piece that is more luxurious and eye catching. This watch is the epitome of Rolex. A capable well made sports watch wrapped in precious metals/high end materials and finished beautifully.
In person, this one is amazing. The cool colour scheme is subtle but the finishing is anything but subtle. Great watch you've got!

I got my platinum YM in 2007 and I love it. It is still my favorite Rolex model and wears well with everything. I’m glad it’s so under rated

Hands down the best video quality oit there on this watch. Lovely watch. I didn’t have this on my radar and my AD offered me this as an opportunity last week. Still thinking about it and still unsure though

Great piece. Extremely underrated
To me the most desirable or professional references after the 116500LN Daytona black dial of course. It’s not as common as a submariner date and the the turquoise hands are just perfect with the grey shades! A work of art. Want it soooo much, but the waiting lists are huge at the moment

Just tried this on at the AD. Love, love, love the case and love the dial on this watch but I can't get over the all-metal bezel. Too flashy I guess? Seems like it out stick out as a daily wearer. Thoughts?
Many nice characteristics, but the bezel can appear plasticky, at least in videos. It also overpowers the dial a bit due to its relative width.

The new version of this says “slate dial” on the Rolex website and has a different reference number (126 622 instead of 116 622 as shown here). Anyone know the difference between the two? Is the colour actually still the same? Thanks for any info :)
The 116622 uses the older 3135 movement (pre 2015). Whereas the 126622 uses the new 3235 movement with 70 hour power reserve.
With the new movement there is a Rolex crown inserted between 'Swiss' and 'Made' on the bottom of the dial.

@@lloydsjewellery thanks for the info, much appreciated. That’s very annoying to hear, especially after 6 purchases with the same AD! I’ve had a similar experience with cars, when the sales exec leaves and now your back to the bottom of the queue for any good deals or insights.
Ok wow, yes I’ve heard you need to buy multiple pieces to get offered the more sought after models. It’s a shame because I just adore the 126622 dearly but can’t really afford to buy several more standard pieces, just to gain favour. Luckily the retail and current prices aren’t too astronomical like with the hulk 🤣.
Shame about the Daytona! They never added you to the list after 4 years of waiting! That is very frustrating.
Watch is hard to find. Wonder if Rolex would make this version in 42mm

Glad this watch has not succumbed to the hype of other (less attractive) models.
The case of this watch looks the same as on the Daytona though I’ve never seen this watch in Person.

If it weren’t for the YM name people would be drooling over it. Even so, when people do figure out this watch exists the price is going to spike.
