- Spaza shop owners in Seshego outside Polokwane in Limpopo have expressed mixed reactions to President Cyril Ramaphosa's recent announcement, that they have to register within 21 days.
The move comes after cases of food-borne illnesses and deaths, suspected to be linked to food bought from spaza shops.
This has highlighted the need for regulation in the sector.

Nonsense concerns 😡😠....leave our Country plz..... Immigrant act 13 of 2002, section 38 (1) & section 19 of 2002, section 19 (2).....can anyone read for Ramaphosa....
It will not be possible for majority of these spaza shop owners as 1. The building must have approved building plans and 2. The area must be zoned for business. 90+% of buildings have no building plans nor areas zoned for business. So would love to see how municipalities will overcome these obstacles. AND why must spaza owner be recognised by the Ward Councillor? No such thing in the legislation.
It's a challenge and the landlord, were supposed to make sure that they comply with every law before building the structures. It is chaotic
It's not the govt or Municipality problem,it is the rule of law, WHICH IS DONE BEFORE YOU OPEN A BUSINESS. ONLY LANDLORDS AND ILLEGAL BUSINESS PEOPLE ARE CRYING....
@@matrix0085 some people believes that since it is called informal economy or spaza shops. You don't have to involve SARS and Municipality etc. Many landlords and their Tenants are going to cry when the Municipalities reject their applications. Some properties are registered as indigent household and the house owner is renting a shop with many rooms etc
Yeah and they don't even pay rates and taxes. ANC fkd SA

@@Leroy-l9wyou are white so you won't know these indigenous names are strictly south African, does not belong to somali or Pakistani
So this shop owners are so far from health standards that they need more than 21 days.
They must register and pay tax. I can not do any business without a vat number!
The people shall NOT govern?
ABAHAMBE!! Fusek!!!

This spaza shop owners are not complying. we want to see how are they going to register the spaza shop without proper documents?
Reclaim your economy means registration of spaza

So they know the process, step by step yet they chose not to do what was right. What are they taking us for?

if one came into the country illegally and open a bussines you should leave the country. and came back legally because if you enter any country to open a bussines you should have a certain amount of money
It's time they have to adhere to standards or go.. we are not prepared to give them enough time for fraud
The question is "why are you trading without a licence", even as a South African? You want to continue breaking the law for another 4 months.
The cheek!!!!!
Why only man who are arrogant in this issue of spam?!!
