      @ We can trade Julius anytime🤷‍♂️ BTW… Timberwolves are back to being a top 4-5 Defense, and our offense has a better rating than last year.🤷‍♂️ So we’re not really missing KAT. Julius has played well, and Ant has him motivated to play D. All that being said, he’s likely on the trading block. Julius was likely never meant to be the final move, with regards to the KAT trade(hence the lack of a contract extension). So to say the Wolves didn’t "Win" a trade, is premature. Especially with 9 years of historical data, clearly demonstrating a statistical regression as the season progress’s for KAT. BTW, how you gonna win a playoff series(or a ring), without elite defensive effort?

  • @whlewis9164
    @whlewis9164 วันที่ผ่านมา +34

    Good vid. He’s still a better defender than Julius Randle. He will spend more time at the 4 at some point. Hopefully, Knicks are still not in their final form.

    • @spfdff
      @spfdff 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Less money. Julius’s value is in the flexibility his contract provides. Notice we haven’t offered him an extension. 🤷‍♂️ The contract attached to KAT, comes with expectations. Playoff success, is one of those expectations(especially at this stage in his career). Wolves fans are more than aware what KAT can do in the regular season. It’s the end of season production that made KAT expendable

      @spfdff 12 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @ Bro, you’re literally making my point. KAT was traded because of his statistical decline when it matters most(the end of the season and playoffs). Regardless of why, stats don’t lie. The best players, rise above and elevate their games in the playoffs. Anthony Edwards is younger and less experienced, and yet his stats go up in the playoffs 🤷‍♂️ The truly great ones, come through when it matters most. Regular season stats are just empty calories(if your ultimate goal is a ring and not an Emirates Cup)

    Its weird to say he can't be in the conversation because of one defensive metric (he's leading the league in rebounds & TRB% so its not like he's contributing nothing on the defensive end). But even if he was just straight up ass on defense, so what? James Harden has a MVP award. Steph has a unanimous award. People win this award regularly while being a defensive minus.

    KAT has grown heaps the last 2-3 years having to play with Ant, he deserves to be in a big market and I definitely think KAT should be the 1a with Brunson 1b on the Knicks

    • @BigBodyJerm
      @BigBodyJerm 22 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I hear you but not even cause of tenure, Brunson is 1A he is over 33% of the teams playmaking creation. There’s not much more movement in schemes with any other point guard sic Brunson. That compliment is the reason KAT fits so well. Just look at it this way, KAT is a ways ahead of Randle who we all claimed to be 1B (which he was just a glorified high stat 2 option) so KAT deserves the title of a TRUE 1B. Which is no hit because we’ve seen him in a role as number 1 by himself and he didn’t go too far until ANTMAN came around. We’ve seen a young Jalen Brunson at the same age a prime KAT as number 1 was, and he brought an injured Mavs team to a conference finals. Then a Knicks team to two straight playoffs, a second seed, 40 a night, first 50 win season in 12 years, and lastly all with high efficiency; consistency. Just take this, and compare it with your thoughts on why KAT would be 1A, I love perspective.

    As a staunch Julius Randle supporter, I was a bit disappointed with the trade at first, especially since his ability to drive & kick and open up the floor would’ve been really interesting to see alongside Brunson since the rest of the rotation are either shooters or cutters. That’s still a bit of an issue, since KAT’s offense is thrives more in a face-up situation and the Knicks are still missing that secondary creator. However, I obviously can’t complain too much when the Knicks are a top-3 offensive team, and the question around the trade goes back to defense, which was really the reason to potentially trade away Randle, as his dynamism on offense has always been there. Thus, it’ll be interesting to see (as you mentioned in the end) how Thibs will fix the defensive issue heading into the playoffs, for they should be fine as the season goes on, but facing teams who have their own intricate offensive systems will be a huge worry in the postseason

  • @spfdff
    @spfdff 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    KATs defensive issues are two fold. 1. Chronic foul trouble issues. If he’s giving playoff level effort on D, it’s difficult for him to stay out of foul trouble(This season ranked 7th for most fouls per game). and 2. He hated playing the 5 in Minnesota, because it would require him to guard the other teams 5. Something he’s expressed dislike for. If you just don’t ask or require him to give maximum effort defensively, then yeah! KATs gonna flourish. Having the other teams 5, guard him on the perimeter is far more advantageous for him, than a more quick and athletic 3 or 4.
