Mobile detailing services is not for everyone. Always remember that when they say your prices are to high.

2024 we gotta raise prices to keep up with cost of living and doing business. I bought an established mobile detail biz one year ago, and he had long term clients he charged low prices to keep em happy. I left em all the same til the 6 month mark and raised most of them, kept a few of the weekly easy ones as is. I lost 2 clients out of probably 50. Now at the one year mark I need to bring up those last low payers, and most of the rest a little more to compensate for increased expenses. Everyone understands so far, I just raised one I was worried about losing just today, they said no problem we get it. Having great clients makes a difference. Thanks for all your wisdom you share! You speak eloquently and with great experience. 👍

I’m just starting as detailing business. I wanted to ask about payments. Do all your customers/clients pay up front before you get started?

You spend at least $25 yourself doing a detail. Just think about it…gas, chemicals, & water. I would earn much charging $25-50. I can’t leave the house for anything less than $150 unless it’s a just a wash for $40

People are tightening their belts. Signs of hard times coming. I was quoted $300 in Southern California to polish an old pick up truck, I said F it I did it myself.

      That’s a good price

300 is an absolute steal for polish if you understand the full process that should be undertaken to polish a car. Pre rinse, wash with some sort of protection stripping shampoo, dry, chemcial decon, physical decon (clay), polish (either 1 or 2 step), IPA wipe down, then wax or sealant. If you're not following all those steps it hasn't been done properly. People seem to think when they ask for a polish it's a 2 or 3 hour job. Some jobs when done properly can take as long as 2, 3, or 4 days (including interior detail)
