revjim123 one in a million is a great song but I get why some people would be offended as Unless you grew up when that song came out and listen to the interviews with Axl about the song and the controversy surrounding the song you wouldn’t understand what Axl was trying to do with the message of the song. It was actually a song against racism and ignorance toward homophobia etc. The song wasn’t from his perspective but the perspective of an ignorant person brainwashed by a small town Midwest society. Which is where he was from, Indiana. Where he was sexually abused by a male family member when he was a young boy, surrounded by bigots. And when he left and hitched hiked to California the song represented what he left behind. It’s even deeper than that but when this song came out in 1989 it was on a small EP they released prior to the Illusion albums. His guitarist, SLASH, is 1/2 black. His mother was black and used to design the album covers for David Bowie. So Slash refused to play the song live BUT stood up for the song saying what it was actually about. But ofcourse saying the N-word Wasn’t going to be a song they performed live. It was just a song for the EP. But Axl and the band is DEF not racist. Hell, the rap band NWA, used to hangout in Guns N Roses dressing room in 1988 while they were on tour and Axl was a fan and wore the NWA hat in a music video to get them some recognition Bc he loved their music and realness. And being Guns N Roses was the biggest band on the planet it actually helped them out and NWA even gave Guns N Roses a shoutout on their Straight outta Compton movie! It’s just a misunderstood song especially today Bc people are even more sensitive then they were in the 80’s.

Sex, Drugs Rock n Roll... When bands of that era were playing cheesey hair metal, they brought the grit, realness, violence and dirty back to hard rock music.
