Bond Street Central line station is also closed due to station upgrade until Mid-June 2014. You can use Jubilee line or Marble Arch and Oxford Circus stations.
For some reason i've always thought that the Northern line was entirely underground except for Morden , High Barnet, Edgware, and Mill Hill east.
I had an empty carriage on northern line Colliers Wood to Bank last week.

I often put this video on to listen while doing something else for the pure nostalgia of the good times I've lived in London, I know what I'm about to say is weird, but listening to this video I can almost "smell" the carachterist funny smell of the London tube lol
I lived in Morden for 26 years until 1973. I hated the tube back then. As soon as you leave Morden you plunge into the tunnel. I travelled on 1935 stock. These new trains seem to be faster but still as noisy. Not a nice journey in the rush hour and back in the day half the carriages allowed smoking. No intercom. If you got stuck in the tunnel you never knew how long you would be there. There was little at Morden until about 1935 when extensive house building took place. South Wimbledon is just Old Victorian terraces and Colliers Wood is just as dismal, certainly no wood!

A "SelTrac"-based Automatic Train Operation system found on the "Northern Line".
The system is bad because it only knows selected power percents or? You can hear it when it tries to hold the speed. It always goes on and off on and off on and off. The IGBT-Technique should be able to do it smooth.

They where designed by a French company called Altsom but built in Washwood Heath in Birmingham in the midlands so they are not technically British trains the were built in 1995 and it means by the time the video was recorded (April 2014, when I was 8 I am 17 now) these trains are almost 20 years old

I am not really a fan of ATO as it makes the drivers job boring! But I must say ATO on the Northern line must be a good thing.
I think or imagine that the job makes fun although the train is driven by the ATO.

U know what confuses me? before on the northern line they used to announce the stations very differently. before they said: THIS TRAIN TERMINATES AT....... VIA.......
but now they say,
THIS IS THE NORTHERN LINE TRAIN VIA........ TERMINATING AT........

In the announcement ''The next station is Stockwell'' they have forgotten to say ''Change here for the Victoria Line''. Stockwell has a Victoria Line interchange
For some reason on the northern line they only announce interchange at the actual stop. Not on the 'the next station is' announcements

so basically the only difference between the 1995 and 1996 stocks (apart from the fact they are used on different lines) is the traction motors
And the announcer.
Apparently, the 1995 stock and the 1996 stock have the same traction motors.
The motors are the same; the propulsion inverters are different.
They sound like the 1996 Jubilee line stock

I went to the northern line to high barnet from bank and it took so long to go

Travelled on this same unit recently! Had no covid stickers or anything so not sure if it has been Not in Use//
the refurnished Northern line 1995 stock looks more like the Victoria line 2009 stock with the blue seats and
the blue hand poles:)

abdulbasit Rashid apprantley Tfl were going to fix up the 1972 MK1 and keep them going with the 1995 stock but it was too expensive to do it.

they used to be door buttons that weren't needed (there was a mode that allowed the operator to activate them, not used at all) but obviously they had the sounds before the remodeling

ATO always seems to be going on and off the power, I suppose to keep to the target speed, I'm sure it must use more power and be a lot less smooth than a skilled driver could do it. Braking can be rather erratic too.
+AndreiTupolev The Jubilee Line used to do it a lot as well but thankfully it's more smoother and faster along most of the line. Still does it a bit in the old tunnels between Baker Street and Finchley Road.

1992 stock is made of plastic and is very unsafe. The amount of times it has broken down, slipped off rails or started smoking up compared to the northern or jubilee is drastic. 1995 and 1996 which run on the Jub and North are newer and more up to date.

The platforms at Clapham Common and North are narrow
Angel and Euston were once island platforms before being reconfigured to single platforms.
It is too expensive to rebuild Clapham Common and North to single platforms and it is not on TfL important things to do list at the moment.
It was cheaper to build Clapham Common and North as island platforms back then and the Northen line inherited it.
Well done for bagging yourself an empty carriage on more than one occasion
