The problem is that even when you have money you can’t just bring it to people. The country is extremely corrupt. Like when I go from my hotel to the shop next door to buy some water, if police passes by they just stop, come to me, tell me I am under arrest and have to pay a fine to leave. I have to give money like this about 3 times a day or more if I go out at night. Even if people like Elon helps, I promise you none of his money will arrive to the people that need it. Due to the diamond mining alone, Sierra alone could be one of the richest countries in the world. I believe money is absolutely not the issue and volunteering will make zero difference if the ruling parties are extremely corrupt!! That needs to change first!
This level of poverty is shameful considering there is wealth there with the mineral and diamond exports. Also, someone should bring in solar power since you say the electric is so spotty. They could do so much more with reliable power.
It was truly heartbreaking to see. I wish them the best and hopefully there will be improvements slowly. Solar could be a great idea in more remote places!
Shame on the world for allowing this to happen in todays world where some people have more money than they can ever spend and some have nothing but food for the day.
I strongly disagree. I don't think money is the problem and the "world" can't really do anything to help. Sierra Leone is already extremely rich in resources. I believe political corruption is the problem and the locals need to kick them out and seek change. See my other replies where I would get arrested on average about 3 times a day there by the police for just walking and I have to bribe them so I can continue going where I was going. It was extreme corruption everywhere. Even if you have money, you won't be able to get it to those that need it. They need to fix the political corruption first for sure! Or do you want European countries to start invading African countries again? Cause that's the only thing the 'world' can do.
Why these countries are not improving, i mean it's been years but they are the same, not developing a bit, even lot of Poor nations are improving, They should do something otherwise even after 100 years these countries remain same, we can't let the kids in poverty they are the future they need better life😕
Why didn’t you visit beautiful places about Sierra Leone. Those people are doing hard labor so they can survive. It’s not just poverty. Even if you give them millions of dollars 💵 they will not leave that place. Some of those people working have built houses out of what they are doing
Yo man there’s got to be enough junk around there to construct a rudimentary desalination/distiller. I mean we rednexks have been turning gross sloppy rotten fruit into booze for years. Same process.
Maybe and maybe not. I spent two weeks there and easily didn’t have electricity for one and half weeks of those. There was just no electricity in the entire country. I think that’s the main challenge of wanting to live there
@@Shirleyowens383 yep that is unfortunately true. But it has to be massive tourism before that happens. Sierra Leone have a lot of opportunities for people to improve their lives and live better but most of these people need to be shown their way out of these depressing situations
They’re not aware how. I asked before filming. If they knew how to improve they would have done it already! I’ve spent two weeks in Sierra Leone and maybe had 3 days of electricity and running water. The country still needs a lot of work and I’m not the savior that knows how to fix it. I just bring you the realities
It is sad that Africans here are rejoicing to the fact that there poverty and hardship is used by a TH-camr to create content thinking he will help change their situation. That is the role of Sierra Leone government. The rest of us here are using your misery as a form of entertainment, created by a TH-camr. Show and sell the beauty of Sierra Leone, stop fueling the negative perception of Africa by the Western media, that we Africans are trying to change. What a shame.
Well this is real life there. If you are ashamed of accepting reality you are exactly the problem of why life is hard in Africa! The first step of fixing a problem is understanding and accepting it, not denying it!

What’s special about the rocks? That people are buying them
Can be used in building. You need small rocks.
great sl
Thank you :)
Looks like Comunas en Medellín, colombia
Really? Are you from there :) coming to Medellin in few months
Wow.. life doesn’t seem so bad in Australia now 😢
Yeah 🥲
they’re making the kids play minecraft irl 😮
🥲
The people are to be blame for all this, coz na dem dae vote for them.remember wa are min fae cook inside d cool pot.Allah save us.
Hopefully the situation will only get better over time! :) the people there were very nice and welcoming
It’s been like that for as long as they can remember.
They’re taking the resources and gave y’all their gods so therefore allah will never come and save nobody because it’s an illusion
I will never understand why they don't just invest in mining machinery like the rest of the world.
I think it’s more complicated …
This people's choose to live such life. if you break stones with hammer 🛠 what about the farming work....
That’s actually a good question I could ask next time. Could imagine farming work could be a great alternative!
Why these countries are not improving, i mean it's been years but they are the same, not developing a bit, even lot of Poor nations are improving, They should do something otherwise even after 100 years these countries remain same, we can't let the kids in poverty they are the future they need better life😕
I hope they get to improve the conditions soon :(
That guy is very good looking
👍🏼
I live in sierraleone freetown
@@alimujalloh4448 cool hello

Why didn’t you visit beautiful places about Sierra Leone. Those people are doing hard labor so they can survive. It’s not just poverty. Even if you give them millions of dollars 💵 they will not leave that place. Some of those people working have built houses out of what they are doing
@@AbdulkarimKamara-ql4nv I did visit beautiful places
Yo man there’s got to be enough junk around there to construct a rudimentary desalination/distiller. I mean we rednexks have been turning gross sloppy rotten fruit into booze for years. Same process.
You a redneck? I might be in the US for few weeks and want to become a Florida man and a redneck. Add me on IG if you can help haha
Bro once cm to India . In India cover sum videos in South Indian Bangalore City ( k.g. f ) u like this place . Fing (k.g.f ) City in Google bro
I will go there :)
Then I will never understand why some Americans would recommend this place to live, wouldn’t that make it harder for those already there?
Maybe and maybe not. I spent two weeks there and easily didn’t have electricity for one and half weeks of those. There was just no electricity in the entire country. I think that’s the main challenge of wanting to live there
@@AlienExploresEarth I meant with supply and demand, prices get higher and life becomes even harder for the poor.
@@Shirleyowens383 yep that is unfortunately true. But it has to be massive tourism before that happens.
To play the devils advocate, the tourism industry could also bring massive amounts of money to the local communities and many people can get employed and earn from that. Currently they’re just sitting on the streets not doing much because there isn’t much to do.
I’m not for or against it I really just don’t know what’s the best thing. And from talking to people there I don’t think they really know either :)
You shouldn't use the word "DANGEROUS" in your title. It will make people afraid to go there. I've lived in SL and it's hardly dangerous at all.
😊
Without doubt, Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 is a lot poorer than the poorest states in Nigeria. And Nigeria is a very poor place 😢.
I haven’t been to Nigeria yet to compare but I would actually love to visit, heard so many good things about it. But the visa is sooo hard to get there requirements are insane.
But according to google Sierra Leone is much poorer than Nigeria!
Hmmm 🤔 brother think twice before you speak you have More poor people in Nigeria than sierra Leone you have food problem in Nigeria a country that cannot feed her population depend on China and Ukraine for food you have More Nigerians leaving their country than Sierra Leoneans search for so call better life in other countries AkA Japa😂😂
Oh ok I didn’t know that, I’m constantly learning :)
But hopefully I will try to make very positive videos too there so not everyone thinks my channel is just about filming slums and struggles lol
@@farafinatravellers5636
Continue living in denial. It’s through that Nigerians are poor. But only a tiny portion of Nigerians are anywhere as poor as I am seeing in this video.
Are you still there am coming
No not currently I left but I loved my time there. Totally recommend it :)
God help me
Life is it easy!
that did not seem like the most dangerous slum in Freetown.
Because the people were so wholesome to me and I really enjoyed it. But imagine a heavy rain and houses on the edge collapsing.
It happened right before I went there
@@AlienExploresEarth My worker is from Sierra Leone and I may visit there next time he goes back. It seems like a beautiful place. Whats your thoughts on safety/crime? And I really enjoyed your video too.
@@ericbuonomo5716 I don’t know in General but from my personal experience I was walking alone at 3am with my phone out and headphones in and I have felt very safe at all times and in all places.

NICE VIEW???, IT LOOKS LIKE THEY LIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF A LANDFILL!!!! "GARBAGE DUMP ". POOR PEOPLE!!!!!! :(
:(
People always giving things names life in the village without the white man no Factory Supply guns everybody eating with the hand using what they can the fireman Village to feed a people😮
No idea what you’re trying to say 🙃
I just don’t see the need to have a family
Most people in Africa believe it’s important to start one very young.
Funny thing, almost everyone always asks me how old am I then if I’m married and how many children I have. Then they get surprised when I say none 😅
Sorry me and what is dangerous there it's maybe dangerous for people like you. Me as an airline captain work and live in this area free and without problems. So stop spoiling the name of my country!!!!
ok
The person doing this videos should also be asking these people if they are aware of any better opportunities for them to explore. You can’t just keep keep asking stupid questions like these.
Why can't you go and teach your people how to do it. Maybe you are living in space with your " many opportunities". Very narrow thinking.
so many people are in denial about the plight facing so many citizens in our nation......
That’s surreal. It’s like a videogame
@@AlienExploresEarth”if they knew how they would” gtfo buddy 😂😂😂😂😂
thank you for French they need our source they don't need the people
What do you mean? :)
@@AlienExploresEarth you don't have no clue what you mean go find out or figure out
It is sad that Africans here are rejoicing to the fact that there poverty and hardship is used by a TH-camr to create content thinking he will help change their situation.
