Nina Hagen is a German musician who started her music career in the 70's. She is also called Godmother of German Punk. She has a classical opera training and masters all octaves there are. Apocalyptica are a Finnish band comprised of cellists and a drummer. Vocals are provided by a number of people that they collaborate with (Till collaborates with them on a cover of David Bowies Heroes-Helden- which is fantastic) Nina Hagen, like Rammstein is from East Germany and is considered the German Godmother of Punk. She's 66 now but still so talented, theatrical and has a multi-octave voice. Nina's sings Seeman in this video as a siren, enticing a sailor to his doom, softly singing at the start and becoming quite savage and brutal in tone towards the end and finally coldly whispering the last few words before turning out the light and removing hope. I actually enjoy this version more than Rammstein's, Nina adds her own edge of lunacy to it and I love it.

Solch eine direkte und klare Aussprache gerade in der deutschen Sprache, kann man ganz schlecht lernen. Wie du jetzt sicher schon erfahren hast, ist Nina Hagen aus Deutschland. Aufgewachsen in Ostdeutschland, wie allen Mitglieder von Rammstein. Anders als die Mitglieder von Rammstein hatte sie noch eine klassische Musikausbildung. Auf so etwas legte man in der damaligen DDR sehr großen Wert, wenn man als Künstler auftreten wollte. Die Leute von Rammstein kamen da eher aus dem Underground und haben sich zu dieser Zeit mehr schlecht als recht, durchgeschlagen.
