I have been learning to play the tenor for approximately two and half years, and I have to say that although I do have formal lessons, you have a brilliant teaching style, and I find it really easy to learn from you. I have stored most of your clips in my TH-cam folder and regularly refer to them, especially just before I go out to a jam session. Thank you for your great work.. Although I'm live in Spain, I frequently go back to my hometown Bedford.. I would be fantastic to meet you ozn one of my visits back.. Dennis
Dennis thank you so much, that means a great deal to me! I’m so glad that you’re finding my work useful and please look me up next time you’re in Bedford 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
Really enjoy your approach and teaching style. Would love to see how you would apply these techniques over some tunes with different key centers. Great work.
Lynden, great simple content. Silly question, explain the use of F natural and B Natural in the Thirds Pattern of the Improvisation. These are not in the A Minor scale, but it fits?
Thank you Bernard. I tongue and slur notes, it’s kind of automatic for me now and I don’t think about it but have a look at the video I made called “You’re playing your scales wrong” and this explains my approach 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎 You're Playing Your Major Scales Wrong! th-cam.com/video/2zDCh4XXSyY/w-d-xo.html
Lynden been watching your videos there great I’m coming along bit by bit. I’m looking to try a mic. Can you tell me what I would need to get to run it through my iPad. I only want to try something cheap. Thks in advance keep up the great work👍👍🤗regards Brian
hi Lynden...great video on improvising...btw...have the backing track set on Soul Jazz Funk vol 3 Swing Beat Eb ... do I set track Cm7(9) and play thru the 24 bars for this session ...thank you so much Dale
Hi Dale, thanks for your feedback. Actually I’m playing over a 251 in this video and you can see how to set that up here How to make a 251 on session band th-cam.com/video/-lrV4XDKNJ4/w-d-xo.html Does this help?
so if I have this correct the 251 chords are Dm7 G7 and Cmaj7 ... If I enter these in the Session Band as a C major scale and the than search for the Eb ( C Bb or Eb) when I am playing my Alto and I than up arrow to the Dm7 @@lyndenblades
Yes ... I followed your video step by step...in session band... I can the setting to C ..than I entered Dm7, G7 and Cmaj7 played the track than I switch to Eb setting for my Alto ...than I up arrowed to Dm7 @@lyndenblades
Hi Gary. No worries, go to Session band Soul Jazz Funk vol 3 and create a 251 in the key of C for alto sax. Does this help? I have made a tutorial about creating a 251 if you’re not sure 🤝🤝🎷🎷
Hi Lynden, yes I can create the 251 but I think the chords I’ve put in sound different to the chords on your backing track. I think I’m not understanding which chords to use! 251 in C Major I think are Dm7 G7 C Major 7, I’m probably wrong as my theory needs work!! Thanks 🙏🏻
Qué fácil improvisa con ingredientes básicos... Sim duda un gran maestro!!. 🎉
Sergio you are very kind, thank you 🤩

Thank you Carl. I’ll be making a tutorial on Blue Bossa very soon, explaining all the chords and how to improvise over them 🎷🎷🤝🤝
Very good explanation sir❤
Thank you 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
Hello. Yes nice. Finnaly mixing all is the best way of not going bored. And you do it so nice ❤. Thx for the video.
That’s great, thank you Kooky 🤝🤝

Thank you Phil, really happy that it was useful for you 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎

Hi, both of those notes are pat of A relative minor 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
Hi Lynden, i am wondering you play so beautifull and relax, do you tongue between notes (it is so fluently), and can you elaborate a bit about?

Hi Brian, I use a Rode NT1a for recording but it’s not compatible with an iPad. Good quality microphones aren’t cheap I’m afraid 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
@ what I ment was what do I need to play if I was busking equipment wise. Mic wireless then what else to plug in a speaker?
@@briangreen842 if you’re going busing you probably wouldn’t need a microphone 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
How lovely ❤ Did you choose D-minor on the app? No chords?
And than Bb on the instrument?
It was A- for alto sax 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎

@@garyjeneson1519 no, that’s right. Have you set it to Eb or Bb, if it’s in concert pitch it won’t sound right
@@lyndenblades I have it on Eb but I created it on C concert pitch. Probably where I’ve gone wrong!!😑
Apologies! If I am correct, and I should have known this, after watching the video, these notes are part of C major/ A minor?
Hi Rick, yes that’s right 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
Thank you Sir! I was looking at then notes of the A minor blues scale that you had at the bottom of your video. All good
Excellent 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
Fantastic idea, btw will be better when you can put the link for the backing track to training with you :)
Thank you for a great suggestion, I have put the link in the description now :-)
