As time goes by he learn that they are not real. So in the end he woke up from his world of illusion and thats why this part is called awake. He found himself and is ready to face the real world. I like to think in "Run" he's running from reality, in I Need U he needs his 'friends' and in Young Forever he wants to stay in his Youth. But he realizes he can't and then, like you said, in Awake, he finally realised that he'd been living in a fantasy world all along.
I think his friends actually were real at some point but they died/committed suicide, so to cope, he imagined them as being alive and there when they weren't.

Also when Jimin is setting a Polaroid on fire, the scene pulls out and Jin is missing where he was standing. So, in conclusion, he's very dead and probably committed suicide, that's why he took so many pictures and wanted to document everything. So he can remember all he leaves behind. I think the story in Wings is about the members still trying to deal after Jin's death and Jin is trying to find the strength to actually move on. The pairs are the same as in the previous album, Jungkook and Suga, Namjoon and V, and Jimin and J-Hope. In Jungkook's film, his song is actually dedicated to the boys and in the video, you can make out that he's shouting "Hyung!" or older brother, aka Suga. The painting is actually a still of Suga from another video. The piano also ties them together but it's a pretty constant image in almost all videos. The whistling in the beginning is the same heard in Suga's video _and_ taking a quote from the book, the main character, Sinclair, waits for a whistle from his friend so he knows to follow, just like Suga follows! In Lie, Jimin is a mental patient, just like previously in a video, but separated from J-Hope. A sneaky detail is both of their hospital clothes are reversed colors. You noticed this in V's video about the phone call, from I Need U (?), and the last words in his film are, "I want to make a phone call." He's calling Namjoon! Because Namjoon doesn't come to the rescue, he falls into depression, which I believe is why he's the devil in Blood Sweat and Tears. Skipping to Jin's film, because J-Hope's film is mostly him missing Jimin and still suffering addiction and some other hidden details found in previous videos, I believe Jin is in limbo. There's a theory that Jin's cause of death was overdose while crashing his car into the river, which is why there's a wall of water at his window instead of the actual window like he expected. At that moment, he woke up and realized he succeeded in death and is worried about moving on if you follow the lyrics to his song. He talks about being afraid of the walk through darkness (limbo) while he still holds *_6 flowers_* in his hands. Burning the flowers was his cutoff from the boys and he renters the hallway. You also see items from the boys in the room (Brown piano, Suga painting, chains, EVA painting, the scratches on the door reading _LIES_, the scratches in general representing V), this shows their memories and reality bleeding into his. As he enters the hallway, the wallpaper has pictures of _ABRAXAS THE GOD_ on it. So metaphorically, he's "flying" to Abraxas. The bird convinces him that he's able to fly and come to decision because the lyrics say _maybe_ I can't fly, a sign of giving up and needing reassurance. I think that the mystery light is not heaven but the museum from Blood Sweat and Tears! That's where he sees the painting, which shows a battle of heaven and hell, and he tries to open his eyes to the reality of the decision. So when V uncovers his eyes, while also revealing to be a fallen angel, he shows him the answer to his dilemma, _a deal with a devil_. Usually, kissing a demon is how you close the proposed deal. And when everything is settled, and his fate sealed, Jin cracks with the _complete_ absence of his family. Well that's what I think. I swear JRE represents the facial expressions I had when I first watched them!👏🏽 Especially the part in Jin's. Those photos😮I was quiet at first cuz I didn't understand(and mesmerized about what I had just seen & heard lol) and then it hit me.😯
