woa i never knew how cute the main deck zoodiacs are. now im considering making a pure zoodiac deck in master duel, considering drident is not banned there
Now that I think of it, Sky Strikers was actually the next Zoodiac, not Magical Musket. They have one monster that can go through a lot of their extra deck ones, doesn't have a clear wincon, and can play the long control grindgame.
I feel like sky strikers is building up to a win condition tbh, I’m really hoping that they get a light attribute extra deck monster that serves as a boss monster and a win con. Maybe make it a less generic accesscode talker.
I think so too but when I brought this up at my locals I got yelled at before I could even point out that Zoos want to build up 1 large monster rather than build wide currently. Because of Zeus, Rat is just currently contrary to the playstyle of the deck. But heaven forbid we let the deck have its least useful banned tool when it's more hit than it was when it was originally played.

It's interesting to see how a rather small Archetype has so many banned or limited cards that can be used, guess the phrase "Big things come on small packages" suits these Zodiac flurries.
Not gonna lie, at this point in YGO's power level, Ratpier to 2 is very much fine. IMO because, one, Malicious "exist" in that state, and also how ZEUS and UDF, while rare, are known variable people can out, so even Ratpier allowing for easy access to both of them on field isn't truly that problematic, not to mention the top decks in the meta (Tear and Spright) give no two shits about Zoodiacs and their endboards, nor any decks that play Zoodiacs can actually contest these 2. Barrage is iffy, but maybe an errata of "this card can't target itself" or an HOPT clause on it, or something like that, would tone it down to be fairer. Broadbull tho? My dude need an errata, unironically. Generic SOPT searcher that can, just, cheat itself out and recurse infinitely is insane.
That's what I've been saying. Other than opening with Barrage every single game, Zoo has no archetypal way to deal with stuff like Nibiru and Evenly Matched or Lightning Storm. Any non targeting removal kind of blows them right up and forces them into a defensive gamestate which is where they struggle from my experience, unless you're playing a floodgate trap variant. They could get Rat to 2 and hell even Drident to 1 and I bet, thanks to the immense power creep since their heyday, they would be nothing more than an splashed engine to help make a stronger Zeus or Appo in decks that are just objectively better. Broadbull just needs to be able to search Zoodiac monsters only and of course add a HOPT but then it would be fine - still strong in its own deck but not able to be abused anymore, so the card also isn't completely dead in the water like Chaos Emperor Dragon or Sinister Serpent for example. If they did start expanding on the Zoodiac engine, I'd like to see them make a Zoodiac based Fusion monster so that people can hard-counter with Super Polymerization in the same vain as the Chimeratech cards. The attach/detatch effects can be pretty good in a handful of situations so it'd be cool to have some kind of somewhat guaranteed failsafe. Which I suppose would rob Zoodiac of its consistency but it's just a clearly flawed idea I had a few weeks ago.
In a AA Zeus world, BoarBow is actually the best Zoo, it lets Zoodiac be more of an engine than an archetype, it can add some simple but powerful combos for almost any deck with room for a few Zoos.

If I had to guess, it would be semi-limited. Seems a bit like Malicious in that it's effect could get absurd with 3, but is merely pretty good at 2. Going down to 1 would be basically the same as banning it, as giving up a normal summon is not worth a restricted entomb like that.

Pure Zoodiac dominated not because it was overtly powerful, but moreso because it was compact. people keep telling me "it can run so much other stuff." and all i can say is im not really impressed by that fact. I love the art design and general theming. it's core mechanic of evading XYZ normal restriction isn't even much an overpowering gesture until you see how they made it work, but in an era now where the best fusion and Synchro decks are avoiding on hand cards and even freaking summoning/ignoring tuners, I find what they have underwhelming, and that was before they were one zeus ban away from doing precious nothing. Personal opinion? errata Broadbull for zoodiac only. it's the main one that i think is crazy that they made it not self-archetype in it's day and age. frankly id like a world with them all back, but its insane to me how much of this deck has basically been on the banlist for roughly half a decade. some sort of compromise should be made here. at this point if everyones so scared of the banned ones, make a new wave.

I personally consider that Ratpier can come back as permanent Semi Limited. Given Ash Blossom (the most played card in NEARLY EVERY SINGLE DECK) can stop it. And not to mention Cards like Infinite Impermanence or Effect Veiler or Forbidden Droplets

This deck was a prime example of being a victim of its own success. Konami really had no idea how busted that deck was.
