The Netherlands have had fairly loose rules for a couple of months now (mid march), and were down to roughly 13 hospital administrations per WEEK. In a relatively densely populated country with 17.5mln people
The numbers are a lie, people are dying from motorcycle accidents and they mark it as a virus death. Hundreds of tests centers are all 100% positive for their tests
Registered nurse here. Just popping in to say that oxygen constitutes 21% of the air you breathe. Also the air you exhale isn't 100 co2. It's just 5% increased co2. You exhale 16% oxygen.
As someone who wears a mask for 12hrs a day every day for work I can confirm it doesn't make you sick. Every hour or so I'll step outside and take it off for a minute or two and then get right back at it. It's not that bad.
true the only thing that bothers me is not being able to catch my breath after performing a physically heavy task, other than that I can wear it all day no problem
Every few hours during my shift I go into the break room to clean my face off and put on a new mask, even if I didn’t do that I’d be fine, I just breathe harder when I work faster 🤷♂️
The best part of this is that people are complaining that a small mask hurts them, while I'm just excited to be able to wear a gas mask in public without being suspicious.
I'm also from Texas and the county I am from has some of the highest rates. When I go to Walmart only have gone twice during this pandemic I see a bunch of carts not put where they should. Might be a reason why my county has high rates of infection. My cousins families were pretty nonchalant about covid and now one of them is sick and they would have gotten my grandma sick if me and my dad didn't step in. I wish people had a greater sense of responsibility
Things have gotten better in Texas in my area but at the same time I go into my local Cefco and they’re not enforcing the mask rule. It’s maddening watching people walk up to the door, read the sign, then continue to walk in with no mask. I always think “Too bad I can’t read!” Lmao
So just want to say that, as a certified automotive safety and Emissions inspector for the State of Pennsylvania, all the types of dangerous gases, are hammered into our skulls. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) really is not that dangerous, most of it's threat is that its one of the most potent green house gases so it makes the environment warmer, however, Carbon Monoxide (CO) which we as humans do not typically exhale, is what actually has dangerous characteristics, since it literally robs the oxygen from you if it gets into your lungs and it leaves permanent damage, but that comes from non catalyzed exhaust gases from internal combustion engines and certain chemical reactions. I think what typically happens is that people confuse the two, which are vastly different gases, both odorless, both colorless, but very different results.
The difference between carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide is so vast that literally only a moron would confuse the two. Umm, carbon monoxide, you die, carbon dioxide, you don't, unless you're a moron, of course, and breathe only carbon dioxide for thirty minutes, which on reflection is actually a good idea, since it would remove you from the planet, along with cliff-diving selfie takers.
europe: taking precautionary measures and see steady decline of cases merica: licking toilet seats for tiktok clout during covid 19 (also american): turns the subject matter of masks into a political debate
Japan: way higher population density and no shutdown, less than 1000 deaths because people learned their lesson about wearing masks during the spanish flu
My girlfriend has more genetic disorders than you can count. She cannot walk, the breeze burns her skin, she has a bad heart and bad lungs, the list goes on. She probably has more health problems than anyone else watching this video. Despite all her conditions, she doesn’t complain about wearing a mask. Yes, it makes it a little harder for her to breathe and the fabric burns her skin, but she still wears it because she’s a decent human being.
omg the shopping cart thing, I thought the EXACT SAME THING!!! Putting your shopping cart up is the ultimate form of being good. There is no penalty for not putting your cart up. You don't get in trouble or punished. You also don't get rewarded for putting your cart up. You receive no benefit, and no punishment, so why do it? You literally only do it, to benefit others...to make sure other people's cars don't get hit, and to make sure that other people have access to a cart when you're not there. There's so much overlap there with the masks. Ah man we share a lot of opinions!
Jorgeyy Boyy it’s not because of the democrats it’s us. WE make everything political, WE make big deals about everything, WE make conspiracy theories, WE blame democrats for everything, WE blame republicans for everything, WE listen to everyone we like even if they’re wrong! FYI “we” refers to multiple different groups that are citizens.
to save lives extreme measures were taken anything to do with public policy is inherently political. As far as the masks our public officials lied to us and completely flip flopped on the issue. I feel this set the groundwork for the mask "ignorance".
Here in Germany we can go to cinemas or restaurants again, and because the people here are widely accepting and understanding the rules, it works very well here. The daily new cases are pretty steady here.
It’s during these times that you start to realize how stupid America is, they would rather “protect their pride” then to just wear a mask and just protect mankind

Everyone, please wear a mask. It doesn’t matter about you, others are at risk. For example, I have asthma and am at risk of getting infected. The rates are going up, and I like living.
Well I like living too. If you’re so worried about yourself then stay home :) Look around you now today, nobody’s wearing them. Haha you’re at risk forever and nobody is going to accommodate you

I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling a sense of gaslighting. Like there's all these protection measures I've been doing for months that seemingly no one else cares about and our leaders have practically given up trying and I feel like a paranoid maniac in comparison. That second point I feel was missing from your rant too. People might go crazy, and they have around the world, but our own leaders have been part of it instead of setting a good example and helping to support the country to stay indoors and healthy. Systemically, and in both parties (though not equally), the country has thrown in the towel. I'm in California which had a few good months of superiority complex to states like Texas, and we abandoned it with premature re-opening and now that lead has completely collapsed.
I’m losing faith in the ability of humanity to do some f-ing research of their own and stop listening to propaganda like mindless npcs. Masks work to block viruses about as well as tennis rackets work to swat fleas! You might catch one or two on occasion but many are going right on through the holes.
I live In florida. We have had a similar spike in cases. Today we are gonna top 11,000 cases in 1 day. I hope you are well and stay safe. Thank you for voicing your opinion. I agree with you. This should not be political. It's common sense.
I have asthma and I wore a mask at college for 3 hours and only in the last hour I was really starting to feel out of breath and struggling to breath. For short amounts of time like under an hour... I can't really feel any difference. Wear a mask and protect your community, it's not that hard...
The cart thing is painfully accurate I once was in a parking lot and saw 1 stroll by and knock out somebody's tail light subsequently a couple months later I lend my car to my friend and he comes back from shopping and there's a cart up against my door thankfully with no scratches. It takes only a few second yet so many instances occur because people don't want to bother for 5 seconds
The shitty thing is I bet theres a lot of people who think the world is shitty because their car got scratched by a cart, despite the fact they are those exact people.
God Bless You! As a Health educator and a small gaming youtuber. I am 100% with you. You are 100% correct. A Human health issue is not and should not be a political issue. It is easy to influence the ignorant. To many people just dont get it. Their lack of education makes them very influenced.

I think this video style is more suited to these types of video. I feel like it kind of messes with the legitimacy of your argument when you have CoD gameplay running in the background. When the focus are your thoughts beyond CoD there is an odd disconnect. Like you don't see movie reviewers with baseball playing the background. Your points of view are well educated and thought out and if you reinforced those thoughts with proper visual the message would come across stronger. Hell even your political videos can become more popular than your CoD vids.
Thank you. I live in Florida and as of this moment we are going to be forced to go to school, on campus. My school is over 1000+ students and not everyone is going to care. My state gets 11,000+ cases daily and it's insane. Hell people in their 20s and under don't care because they feel they can't be touched. Pisses me off.
What county do you stay in? In palm beach county atleast, we are starting off with virtual learning and easing back into physical school if covid cases go down
Remember the days when our presidents would say, "ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for it". Now we have people unwilling to even put on a mask.
@Drift0r, med student here with a few corrections for you (overall great job! The details you got incorrect didn't detract from the overall correctness of your rant): - CO2 toxicity: Air is 79% N2, 21% O2, about 0.04% CO2. CO2 is toxic at about 5-6% concentration in our atmosphere. This is governed by the fact that the partial pressure of CO2 in our blood needs to be higher than that of the air in order for CO2 to leave our body! (Also, if you watch The Martian or Apollo 13, you'll hear CO2 toxicity come up in space, not O2 deprivation). - Comparing masks to vaccines: great analogy, but it's worth noting that vaccines have herd immunity + strong individual protection (whereas masks are predominantly based on protecting others aka herd immunity). - Can confirm no studies have shown breathing problems while wearing a mask; for anyone doubting science, go ask any blue collar worker who has to wear PPE all day if they've ever died from wearing a mask ;) - Side note: been following you a long time, love your content, stay happy, healthy, and safe!!
I’ve been out for 8 hours total since March 12th. Mask every time when out. 3 people on my team at work had a family member die from COVID. 1 person from my old team had 6 family members die. Know 3 that recovered. Stuff is very real whether you want to believe it or not. Please wear a mask, the more you do the sooner we’ll all get through this!
Man living in Washington I've seen some people be idiots trying to enter the place I work at without a mask, but at least luckily they either go back out and comply by getting a mask from their car or home, or they just leave. I can't imagine living in a state like Texas right now. Hell in May a State Representative (who is a Republican) in Pennsylvania kept secret that he was infected, and his leaders in the House knew about it. And they didn't tell the Democrats about it, potentially putting many lives at risk. That right there is 1000 times worse than any bs most people complain about when it comes to partisan issues. If you don't believe this, look it up. Putting people's lives at risk, is insane, and this kind of mentality will be the downfall of our nation if people can just be kind and treat each other like human beings.
America isn’t going anywhere! Yes, we are in a bit of a rough patch lately, mainly because of white liberals, but we’ll get through it and still be the best nation on the planet!
Toxic Masculinity the fact you said “and we’ll still be the best nation on the planet” is quite a bold statement to make since it has and only gone downhill from when you chose Trump as president ngl Also saying that and having that mindset is a pretty selfish opinion and is not helping at all for the situation there imo js
Toxic Masculinity sounding a bit desperate and fragile to prove your point, aren’t we snowflake? Who are you trying to convince your country is the best in the world; us or you? Best of luck and hopefully you don’t get this nasty virus due to people being unwilling to listen to those who know better than them. The thought of that is far, far too scary... I would love to see Drift0r and YoungRippa59 (two eloquent chaps from Texas) debate this topic. Two completely opposite views of the same topic. I love both streamers but they have different stances on masks in a state where numbers have spiked.
I work at Amazon i have to wear my mask for 10+ hours a day, I have asthma im overweight-ish I've never once had a breathing issue while shopping exercising, or working.
In all fairness it depends on the severity. I had a family friend who's son died from an asma attack. He he was unconscious before he had time to get the inhaler out of his book bag. I could understand someone being afraid that having a mask tied tightly to their face that they have to strip off first would take to long
@@seansimmons73 maskes should not be tied, elastic straps hold them fine and dont take any time to remove. like literally less than 1/10 of a second. inhalers also should be on the PERSON (in your pocket, ideally an open shirt pocket so someone else can easily help if they need to) at ALL times, in case anyone happens to read this who has an inhaler.
@@TheShizzlemop are you heartlessly explaining why they failed to save their family friend? What exactly are you saying? Because the kid is dead now and you're not helping anyone.
I wear a mask because it helps lessen the anxiety of others...not for my own benefit. I don't care if anyone else wears a mask. I worked for a multinational healthcare company (in 10 countries, and I actually spoke with you in Singapore), and though I'm a techie and not a mask expert, I would have been comatose to not pick up data on masks. Your video is truly a rant, and like most rants, it's full of passionate opinion and inaccurate data. We had 1200 doctors in our company. Some were surgeons. They wore masks not to protect themselves, but to protect the environment. Sounds like what you're after, I know, but here's the kicker...they only protected the environment for about 30 minutes, and then had to be changed for fresh masks. That leads to a discussion on masks...something I expected in your video but didn't see. A mask's effectiveness is all about the environment. A surgical mask assumes a sterile environment and protects that environment for a brief amount of time. Everything in that sterile environment is allowed back through mask and is breathed in by the wearer. The x95 series of masks assumes a polluted environment. It protects the wearer from the environment, but everything the wearer breaths out is dumped into the environment. Cloth masks protect neither the wearer NOR the environment. They are essentially useless for COVID prevention and I have seen at least one study that shows that in those susceptible, they increase the chance of respiratory infection for the wearer. Understanding mask technology is likely the reason that both WHO and the CDC did, at one time, advise against wearing masks. But, it was actually the uniformed, political pressure that you rail against that ended up overcoming the science of masks and getting them to reverse their positions. Ironically, many who rely on masks to protect them and the environment are not using them properly. Therefore it is many of the mask-wearers who are like the naive late Middle Ages plague-mask wearers than those who don't wear masks. Also, you might reconsider your misuse of the term "herd immunity." It's dangerous to others the way you describe it. Wearing masks or even a full HAZMAT suit will not give us anything "like herd immunity." While masks don't prevent gaining herd immunity (people will still contract COVID), they will never provide it. Herd immunity would be Nirvana right now. There's a reason the SARs didn't impact the older population like it did the younger. Seemed the older folks had a form of herd immunity due to a virus that spread decades ago Like I said...I wear a mask out of compassion for the feelings of others. There are many like you who will rant without all the facts or no matter what the facts show. Best not to get too emotional over masks, it clouds judgment and perspective. As always through the years, I enjoy your videos and appreciate the effort you put into them.
Drift0r, you make me have some hope in the US and I don’t live in the US . I agree on every argument that you make , I thought it was me making the video .

The funny thing I realized is that if I didn't pay as much attention to the internet as I do then I wouldn't know any of this crap exists in my normal daily life. That's the case for the majority of people here in the US. I like in one of the higher populated areas of Georgia and my rather large apartment complex only just yesterday had our first reported case of the virus. The media and internet would have you believe it's a far larger deal than it actually is, hence the referral of it being politicized.
A couple people with “disabilities” have died of coronavirus. One was in the hospital and left to die. The other was brought to a church coronavirus party by her family.

What you're describing in the examples is the tragedy of the commons, or sometimes called the "no single raindrop" rule. No one raindrop is technically responsible for the flood. Many people seem to just have their brains fundamentally blindspotted when it comes to group issues that invoke this kind of issue. Some people seem completely incapable of seeing the forest, and can only ever see trees.
This can be shortened to one simple fact: People, as a whole, are insanely stubborn and will never behave ideally. That comes with a cost, but it will always be the case.
To be completely honest I had clicked on the video to make a snide comment on the thumbnail, but I gave the video a chance, and I'm glad I did. I used to live in Plano, Texas so this hits really close to home to hear that the cases are getting that bad. I appreciate your advocacy for masks and distancing, and although I have been implementing them into my life, because of your video I want to strive to be even more mindful and respectful. Luckily I'm now based in RI and our Gov has done an exceptional job handling the pandemic, however, with such a stark rise in cases in other states, the chances it comes back to my state even worse is very high.

I have extremely bad allergies and asthma and when I was in high school I would have to wear a mask while running to reduce my allergen intake. I would run 10+ miles at a time in my mask and never experienced CO2 poisoning. If I can wear a mask running 5:30 miles for 10+ miles with asthma then you can wear one to go for a walk.
Just because you didn't experience CO2 poisoning doesn't mean people with breathing conditions won't have major issues with masks. At this point it's common knowledge that people with respiratory diseases shouldn't wear masks, atleast if they feel masks do more harm than good. People are different.
Wearing a mask outside for covid when your not going to be near anybody is completely pseudo-scientific. Keep your distance and keep to yourself that's good enough.
I mean in Australia, everything is going pretty well. Some places are getting hitting by a second wave but it's still being contain. Some places are opening here ,but still are keeping social distancing as a precaution everywhere.
Here in Costa Rica we had minor issues but now basically for people not giving a Damn we are almost 1000 cases per day from 20/30 and our government is giving “Optional Distancing” crap instead of just Saying “You are not allowed to go outside.” As you said it’s crazy to think that people prefer to complain and come up with crazy theories instead of just laying in their beds and use masks when they go out
Drifter, I'm an EMT and have recently had a surge of COVID-19 positive patients. I've been exposed directly around 30 times and it's only getting worse because people refuse to do the simplest things like WEARING A MASK. From the bottom of my heart and I speak for all of us first responders and Medical professionals, thank you for this...this is what I wish people would know!!!!!!!!!!!
@CanadianLoki76 of course a mask is not going to stop a microscope such as a Virus. However...seeing as the virus is not airborne but spread through bodily fluids only, that makes wearing a mask a LOT more effective since droplet protection is exactly what they are designed to do. And just as Driftor said in the video, it is only effective with everyone is wearing the mask. So yes, wearing a mask is Extremely important. Next time that you want to fact check someone, do be sure to know that you have all of the facts. Please wear a mask when out in public and keep social distancing as much as possible so that neither you nor your family get the virus!
Masks work. Goggles work. Ear plugs work. Gloves work. Hazmat suits work. Hazmat suits with their own oxygen supply work. Hazmat suits with oxygen supply doused with peroxide works. A fully body plastic bubble works. Remote-controlled robots with our face and voice work. Sedated and cerebrally connected to the matrix works.
Must be a local thing because where I'm from people started wearing masks before it blew over in the US. Your area seems to have been like "there is no need to wear masks", but since it got bigger of course they'd tell you to wear a mask now. There's no conspiracy that you're implying.
I am totally on the same page with you my man. I currently live in Utah and the situation here is just as bad. (Not as many cases but ignorance nonetheless). I actually went to the supermarket to conduct my own research to see really how many people wore masks. And I found that out of 100 people only 3 people wore masks. I have roommates and (former) friends who refuse to wear a mask just because they think that it won’t affect them. Just recently I got a COVID-19 test after exhibiting many symptoms, and I’m not surprised, everyone I am around (work and home) doesn’t wear a mask. I’m the only one. And people have the audacity to say that masks make breathing hard, you know what makes breathing hard? COVID-19 does.
In Chinese we have a saying, "If a starving peasant is telling you this or that is not tasty, it probably is because he cannot afford it.", that was how we felt when we saw some American institutions advised people to not wear a mask a few months back, and some American politicians advocated for defunding the WHO or sanctioning China etc. Is it that hard to just follow basic common sense and do the right thing? I've heard people kept saying China is covering up their numbers because they just can't understand how come a poor country with 1.4billion ppl can have "only" 80k cases (which was considered very many by the west just a few months back)--but if that is the case, hospitalised and deaths in China should be exploding by now. But no, and the why is simple. China practised one of the strictest lockdowns, during which you couldn't go from city to city, restaurants, bars were closed, everyone's movement was tracked with a mobile app which you must install if you wish to go out, and not wearing a mask in public was a criminal offence.

Relax, Karen! Here you are-- Education, Fun & for FREE: I can only post the facts for you... I can't 'understand them' for you too. That is ALL on YOU. Feel free to make your argument with the Medical Specialists who've been listed below. Masks have been proven to be ineffective at preventing the transmission of viruses-- evidenced by the numbers peer-reviewed medical studies, but there are also studies showing negative affects of wearing masks, such as causing Bacterial Pneumonia. An N-95 mask still lets 5% of anything smaller than 3 microns thru all the time. At 10% relative humidity to lets particles up to 8 microns thru. The Wuhan corona virus is 1.25 Nano microns big, that's : 0.00125 microns. That's 2400 times smaller than what an N-95 mask can filter. Yes, you can catch the flu while wearing an N-95 mask. "More to the point, indoor airborne virus concentrations have been shown to exist (in day-care facilities, health centres, and onboard airplanes) primarily as aerosol particles of diameters smaller than 2.5 μm, such as in the work of Yang et al. (2011): If his view of the mechanism is correct (ie. "physical loss"), then Shaman's work further necessarily implies that the dryness-driven high transmissibility (large R0) arises from small aerosol particles fluidly suspended in the air; as opposed to larger droplets, which are quickly gravitationally removed from the air. Such small aerosol particles fluidly suspended in air, of biological origin, are of every variety and are everywhere, including down to virion-sizes (Depres, 2012). As a matter of fact Brooke et al. (2013) showed that, "contrary to prior modeling assumptions, although not all influenza-A-infected cells in the human body produce infectious progeny (virions), nonetheless, 90% of infected cell are significantly impacted, rather than simply surviving unharmed. All of that to say that: if anything gets through (and it always does, irrespective of the mask), then you are going to be infected. Masks cannot possibly work. It is not surprising, therefore, that no bias-free study has ever found a benefit from wearing a mask or respirator in this application. Therefore, the studies that show partial stopping power of masks, or that show that masks can capture many large droplets produced by a sneezing or coughing mask-wearer, in light of the above -described features of the problem, are IRRELEVANT." So just want to say that, as a certified automotive safety and Emissions inspector for the State of Pennsylvania, all the types of dangerous gases, are hammered into our skulls.
Balance is key when we already live on a knifes edge. Timeframes are especially 🔑 in the balance were soon gonna be facing

@Drift0r, med student here with a few corrections for you (overall great job! The details you got incorrect didn't detract from the overall correctness of your rant):
- CO2 toxicity: Air is 79% N2, 21% O2, about 0.04% CO2.
- Can confirm no studies have shown breathing problems while wearing a mask; for anyone doubting science, go ask any blue collar worker who has to wear PPE all day if they've ever died from wearing a mask ;)
- Side note: been following you a long time, love your content, stay happy, healthy, and safe!!

Seemed the older folks had a form of herd immunity due to a virus that spread decades ago
Like I said...I wear a mask out of compassion for the feelings of others. There are many like you who will rant without all the facts or no matter what the facts show. Best not to get too emotional over masks, it clouds judgment and perspective. As always through the years, I enjoy your videos and appreciate the effort you put into them.

Some people are turning it around and calling people who do wear masks selfish, because it "offends" them.
A couple people with “disabilities” have died of coronavirus. One was in the hospital and left to die. The other was brought to a church coronavirus party by her family.
Im a construction worker who wears a N95 mask to filter out heavy dirt and concrete 12 hours a day while moving 80lb concrete bags constantly. Laughing at how these "extreme shoppers" can't breathe.

Send this to every Karen you know
This can be shortened to one simple fact:
People, as a whole, are insanely stubborn and will never behave ideally. That comes with a cost, but it will always be the case.
There's a difference between 'behaving ideally' and bowing down to tyranny to make others feel better.

How RI compared to Plano.
Maybe I should just go into the stores with a lit cigarette.

Funny how no one argues with you on this one 😂
Just because you didn't experience CO2 poisoning doesn't mean people with breathing conditions won't have major issues with masks.
At this point it's common knowledge that people with respiratory diseases shouldn't wear masks, atleast if they feel masks do more harm than good. People are different.
Wearing a mask outside for covid when your not going to be near anybody is completely pseudo-scientific. Keep your distance and keep to yourself that's good enough.
How about I don't wear a mask anyways
I mean in Australia, everything is going pretty well. Some places are getting hitting by a second wave but it's still being contain. Some places are opening here ,but still are keeping social distancing as a precaution everywhere.
Have any Australians that you’ve seen been as crazy about masks as the US?

Here in Costa Rica we had minor issues but now basically for people not giving a Damn we are almost 1000 cases per day from 20/30 and our government is giving “Optional Distancing” crap instead of just Saying “You are not allowed to go outside.” As you said it’s crazy to think that people prefer to complain and come up with crazy theories instead of just laying in their beds and use masks when they go out
I had pretty low expectations in terms of how our country would respond to the pandemic and I'm still disappointed.

Must be a local thing because where I'm from people started wearing masks before it blew over in the US.
Your area seems to have been like "there is no need to wear masks", but since it got bigger of course they'd tell you to wear a mask now. There's no conspiracy that you're implying.
@@korinoriz but do they tell u to eat healthy and boost ur immune system or do they tell u to wear a mask and social distance. 🐑

And all the libertarians are shaking in their boots over the idea of that.
Although the CCP is flawed, it is undeniably efficient and pragmatic

One thing ive never understood about the fake “i cant wear a mask because of a disability” excuse is that their condition is always so severe that they cant wear a thin fabric face covering, but when they get told no, their respiratory system is healthy enough to yell, get their hearts pumping, and throw a tantrum.

Therefore, the studies that show partial stopping power of masks, or that show that masks can capture many large droplets produced by a sneezing or coughing mask-wearer, in light of the above -described features of the problem, are IRRELEVANT."

I'm in south dakota. We followed the herd mentality. We kept track of those at risk but otherwise we didn't close down but by voluntary means. I worked pretty much the entire time until now. At least for us, it was a joke.
