    Strange I had none of these issues except for some frame rust but I caught it and treated it with rust reformer and good repaint

    I’ve got 345k miles on my 1999 TJ original drivetrain and no leaks👍

    Wow…..I’m going to go out and buy a lottery ticket today! I’m an original owner of a spec-ordered ‘97 TJ Sport (with the inline 6). 150k+ on the clock. I’ve had none of those problems (except for the bonus, #6. Due to frame rot, I did have the frame professionally capped by a local Jeep specialist). I would add (#7) rot in the two front fenders and (#8) windshield frame rust. To replace my windshield recently, I had to have the frame replaced….and I replaced both fenders. So, knock on wood, I’ll be driving my TJ to the grave.

    We have two jk Wranglers and lucky that in Australia we don’t salt our roads. Also we spray a bitumen like coating in the difficult areas such as chassis rails etc. and so far no rust at all on the 2008 and 2013 model. However the information you gave us is gold and I will keep my eye out thanks.

    When a car is so reliable, all you can come up with are nitpicky things.

      Is steering, oil seals, and transfer case nitpicky? Frame rot?

    Mine has 445,000 miles. No leaks, except the pinion seal. It is a tiny leak. I tighten the bolts regularly and have no leaks because of it. I paint my frame twice a year. It is a labour of love.

    Great video! My 06 LJ was rebuilt to address a tiny bit of rust. I took it all the way down to the frame and did a lot of work to give everything longevity. However, I wish I would have seen this video to address the leaks. I think I have every one of them that you mentioned. I wish I’d seen this video prior.

      @ohnoao9847 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@limabean4581 So riddle me this batman if it's literally the most impractical "truck" out there then why do they hold their value so well? Example- I have two vehicles my 2001 Jeep TJ with 178,000 miles, fair condition, cost $8,500 6 years ago and still valued at $5,800 trade in and $7,000 private party. My 2008 VW Jetta with 64,000 miles, very good condition, cost $16,000 brand new off the lot 12 years ago and valued at $3,900 trade in and $5,000 private party. Oh and $1,500 of that is credit for low miles since my Mom was the previous owner and only put 27,000 miles on it in 11 years.
      P.S. For the record I would like to add the car was a gift for my son, but he doesn't feel the need to drive it, so I do occasionally. I know better then to buy anything new off a lot, that's my families deal, not mine.

    Been driving a 1998 Wrangler as a daily driver since I bought it new in 1997. Some of these are true. Some aren't. Probably depends on where you live and how much the Jeep is abused.

    I thought Heater cores rusting out was a major problem with Jeep Wranglers, since it is a major cost repair if a shop does it because it is very labor intensive requiring hours to remove the dashboard o get at the bad core

  • @ncgolli

    Would undercoating help keep the underneath from looking like that one day? I am looking at a 2003 TJ that was traded in at a Mazda dealership. They don't want to certify it (saying they no nothing about Jeeps) It has 261,000km on it and they are asking below market price. The body looks good from the pic. What is the worst that could happen if I bought it?

    My 99 Jeep Wrangler often times won’t turn over, so I put the shifter in neutral and it turns over and starts. What is the problem?

    • @DojiKing
      @DojiKing 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like your jeep is an automatic. You might have a bad nss or your shifter cable is loose and not fully putting the jeep in park. Check the cable first and make sure the cable in not loose or damaged. If you see some cable fraying then replace it. If just loose tighten it. The cable length is adjusted where it passes through the bracket that secures it to the transmission on the driver's side. There is a locking clip that holds it in place, just release it and move the cable back or forth a notch which should take care of it.

    • @vigilantemotors
      @vigilantemotors 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tim, it could be the NSS has gone bad. NSS = Neutral Start Switch. This is often the problem so you may want to get that checked out.

    Hello! Do you have any recommendations regarding ECM replacement for 2006 Wrangler 4.0? Problem started with a fuel level sensor code P0462. I put a new ECM in and now have 2 additional codes (P0456 evap & P0206 injector code) and a misfire in cylinder 6. I put the previous ECM back in and I just have the original issue and no misfire. Wrong programming, faulty new ECM? Any recommendations?
