I love this sit down jam session. He was nervous but once in got started he became his natural self. This performance was spontaneous and fun. He did two shows that day and they were edited into one special. There is another version that was a medley of four of his early hits. He performed Heartbreak hotel without the guitar standing up. If you want to see the original you have to go back to 1956 on the Ed Sullivan show. He received his first Gold record for Heartbreak Hotel. Please do more Elvis.
From Elvis's left there is Scotty Moore, DJ Fontana, Alan Fortas, Charlie Hodge and on the tamburin Lance LeGault. Great reaktion by the way! TCB Forever!❤
Jane H …. I am so happy that I was alive when Elvis was alive. I was born in 1952, so I was just 2 years old when Elvis first began singing & recording with Sun Records in Memphis, but I was 16 when he was doing his ‘68 Comeback Special, & 18 when he was doing his Live concerts in Las Vegas. My cousin & I were crazy over Elvis from when I was 12 & he was 11 ….. & my husband was an Elvis fan when he was 12 also. I would have Loved to see Elvis in concert, but I was born & grew up in New Zealand, & the closest I got to seeing him Live, was at his 1973 Aloha from Hawaii concert, which was the first Live concert to be beamed around the globe via satellite. I watched it here in New Zealand, & it was Amazing, knowing that Elvis was actually singing on stage in Hawaii while I was watching it. I went to live in England in 1969, when I was 17, but how I wish my mother had gone to America instead, & then I would definitely have gone to see Elvis in concert. I’ll be 73 in a few months, & pop groups & singers have come & gone in my life, but Elvis has remained. He was a phenomenal singer & human being, & he still has millions of fans worldwide, 47 years after his passing. Great Reaction. Going to sub to your channel for your Elvis Reactions.
Got you beat sonny, I was born in 1944 and saw him from beginning to the end. Saw him two times in concert, and that was one of the greatest events of my life. Be Blessed
Notice that at 2:30 (on my screen)he touched his throat then said "Hold it, I'm out of breath, wait a minute," & he laughed. He also coughed a couple of times during the performance. He made a joke out of it, but- Elvis being Elvis, he just sailed right along. Elvis had a lung condition & at times had difficulty breathing. ELVIS & HIS NERVES: Steve Binder, the producer-director of the special related a story which took place in the dressing room right before Elvis was due to go on: Elvis was extremely nervous and he told Binder that he didn't know any of the songs, he forgot all the words, & wasn't going out there, & Binder said "I don't care if you walk out, just say hello & then walk off, but you ARE going out." And out he came.
He was in the Army from, 1958-1960. This is after the movie career, part of his life. While doing his movies, he hadn't performed any live music shows, for 9 years. That is why it's considered, "The '68 Comeback Special". He was leaving movies, and coming back to music.
This showed his nervous first time live performance which he had not done in 8 years. He even tried to back out at the last minute afraid people had forgotten him and director Steve Bender said "Elvis you have to go out there if just to say hello". Elvis said, just so they don't laugh at me". His greedy manager had him stuck in movie contracts for years, this was his first actually singing performance since the 50's. Can you believe that? I watched this performance as it happened. I saw him in 1956 when I was 12 years old on TV. I was in love from then on I still am at 80. Thanks Be Blessed.
He was out of this world good looking. More so in person than in photos & movies. Also a voice & sex appeal . He was a very rare human. God blessed him.❤. Thank you!
He done this song a few times in this ''Comeback special. One standing up really good. The other one he does well different too. Thanks for reaction to Elvis. 👍 Try Polk Salad Annie By Elvis. 1970 Live. A lot of action. Thanks Man.
Also in this beautiful special, he sings "Memories " a beautiful ballad, and goes out and sits with the fans. He is clalm and slick as a river rock. The very essence of beauty with a young boyish persona, even though he is 35 year old here. If you also want your mind blown, see the opening number to this 68 special called, "Trouble/Guitar Man", it's a big production number that shades everything you have seen on Broadway, and this is a TV special for NBC. He plays he singings he does everything. He's like an entity from another planet. People on earth shouldn't be this blessed, he had it all. Thanks
The most beautiful man that ever walked the planet.

Han var helt unik 🤩🎶🎶🤩
Guitarist Scotty (Moore) was Elvis’ very first guitarist from July 1954 and DJ Fontana started as Elvis’ drummer in late 1954.
They had to be convinced to come because the Colonel had fired them when Elvis got big. They still loved Elvis though.
