One of the songs that choke us veterans up every time. Trace is so talented, he can do justice to such a somber song and yet he can belt out such humorous numbers like Ladies Love Country Boys or Honky-Tonk Badonka-Donk!
the song was written as a tribute to thge soldier whose name you see at the end of the original music video Corporal Patrick Ray Nixon, the song was written with full permission of the soldiers parents
the writer of this song met the father of a marine whose photograph and headstone are shown in the official music video, and the songwriter penned this song in honor of that marine. thank you for this. i love this song and have looked at other reactions. it's so sad sometimes, though, to watch young americans who react to this and express their confusion because they don't understand what it's about! amazing.
As a Vet this song always brings tears, Dani you did the reaction perfect. It doesn’t require a lot to be said, the song does it for you. It’s why we serve. Those Vets gave the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you for the respect and honor you gave this song. God Bless
God Bless you, John! And thank you for your service! It makes me feel so proud that you feel my reaction was perfect! I hope the amount of gratitude I have for our service men and women really came through!!! ❤️
Those vets, as well as the ones who managed to make it back, and those who serve now, are the reason why I always stood up to do the pledge of allegiance back in high school. A friend once asked me why I do the pledge of allegiance, and I told her, "all you see is a flag with stripes and stars, but I see more than that. I see that flag dripping with the blood of all those who served- including my brothers, those who lost limbs and shed tears, and those who lost their lives so that I can be here and enjoy the freedom that we have today. If I don't stand for the pledge of allegiance, I feel like I'm disrespecting and slapping every single one of them in the face."
The first time I heard it I was driving home from work, I had to pull my truck over cause of the tears flowing! Not just as a Veteran, but as an American, we need songs like this unfortunately so we do not forget. If you ever get to go to Arlington, please do so. Hallowed ground is an understatement! I was honored to attend the funeral of my friends Dad who served as a Medic in Vietnam. Leave it up to our ' Nam Vets, he was the First to help me to transition to civilian life. Anyway, he died just 4 or 5 years later. As sad as it was, I was even more proud of Him and of our Honor Guard who where INCREDIBLE!! PLEASE GO SEE IT!! In my eyes, we should send our kids there on a field trip at school. Also, if you have time, see the Wall, Vietnam Nurses Memorail , ( them gals were just as brave and tough as the men), and the other Memorials. Sorry such a long post.
@@eliashuapilla Amen.I cant physically stand because i am in a wheelchair but every time the pledge is said(which today is rare)or i hear Our National Anthem,i always ALWAYS place my hand over my heart no matter what
One thing we must remember, after the Vietnam war when many of us were drafted , all military personnel are volunteers. They chose to sacrifice their time, family and some their lives.
I came across this reaction by accident. But one he'll of a job young lady great perspective. Ty. Ty to all service men,and women served, and serving. God bless the US 🇺🇸!

Great reaction, as expected. Thank you for that. Me, I´m a german navy Vet, served my country and our Nato Allied forces, for more then two decades. I allways envy our american brothers-in -arms, for theire honorable treatment of the service members. But as a sailor I´d like to remind you, that the greatest graveyard of the world, the sea, got no crosses or Memorialstones. So when ever you come to a shoreline, take a minute of silence as a tribute to the unknown sailors. Cause they don´t really have a chance to make it to Arlington. Stay safe and healthy outthere, All of you. Greetings from good old germany.
Hi Dani, I want to thank you as a Vet for reacting to this Song. The saying is All vets gave some but some gave all. Arlington National Cemetery was built on General Robert E, Lee's Estate. The United States Department of the Army controls the Cemetery and the National Park services a part of the Department of The Interior controls the Arlington House. Arlington National Cemetery is the only National Cemetery to hold service members from every War in United States History.
Hey Miss Dani, WOW mate, what an emotional and super powerful “anthem “ to your nations brave, courageous and patriotic troops.I got that sensation of “pins and needles” while listening to it. So beautiful. So respectful. For what it’s worth mate, here’s one insignificant proud Aussie that also says, God Bless America. I’ve had the privilege of visiting Arlington Cemetery way back in 89 mate and it’s nothing short of hallowed ground. We Aussies have a song called “I was only nineteen” by a group called “Redgum” that also pays homage to my country’s Vietnam Veterans. But I guess it tells the story of all our troops and the sacrifices they are willing to commit to.May God Bless Australia too.Next time mate.👍🇦🇺🇺🇸❤️☮️
@Charlton Jones Thank you kindly Mr. Jones sir. The ongoing brave sacrifices you and your mates did, for not just the priceless freedoms your fellow American’s enjoy today, but even for the same priceless freedoms we Aussies enjoy today. Be proud mate. You sure did your bit for liberty and democracy. You are a hero to me, sincerely. I dips my lid to you and all your fellow brave, patriotic servicemen and women who fought along side my country’s brave troops, in the battle of the Coral Sea, during the latter stages of WW2. If it wasn’t for the amazing help Uncle Sam gave us Aussies, I may well be speaking to you in Japanese. We came that close. God Bless you, your buddies and your family mate and Thank you again.👍☮️🌹❤️🇦🇺✝️
Same, same Mate. I've heard that song you mentioned. Combat Vet myself. 1st patrol in Iraq, our unit taking over from departing unit; familiarization patrol. The leader was an Aussie Officer attached to US Military. Of course nicknamed 'Mad Max'. Great Officer and Soldier despite peculiar habit of drinking tea vrs coffee. Your country has produced VERY good soldiers, almost as good as ours (talking smack of course). God Bless both our countries fallen Soldiers.

Hey Dani Uncle J- Man here. A beautiful and emotional reaction to a beautiful and emotional song. GOD BLESS ALL OUR MEN AND WOMEN IN OUR MILITARY AND ALL THE VETERANS. THANK YOU THANK YOU 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
This is right up there with George Jones “50,000 Names On The Wall” and the Statler Brothers “More Then A Name On The Wall” You can also listen to “Home” by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, and the “Ballad of Ira Hayes” by Johnny Cash.
Hello dani, awesome reaction to arlington by trace Atkins. What a patriotic song that brings tears to your eyes and a lump in your throat as well. The emotions you feel when you hear it says enjoy your time on this earth as much as you can because you never know when the Lord is ready to say hey it's time to go. Love your neighbors ,as you would love your own family. Great job dani you're awesome.
Hi Dani, I recently found you and your reaction to this song. It is particularly impactful with the loss of our 13 heros in Afghanistan this week. Your reaction was beautiful and touching. My heart aches for out fallen soldiers especially in these days. Thank you for this post! God Bless our heros!!!
I served 4 years in the USAF as an MP with the K9 division. I never got to go to a foreign land and never seen combat so I don't deserve any honors, but I come from a military family and I can tell you the hurt of loss is real and it never goes away.
Thank you, Dani, for presenting this remarkable song by Mr. Atkins. His beautiful rich voice is perfect for the song. Hats off to all the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our country. I was born with too many health problems to serve, but I always wished I could have. Perfect reaction, Dani, especially how much it touched you. The heartache, the pain, etc. Thank you for the tribute.
Of course, Diana!! Thank you for your comment! And yes, hats off to all of the service men and women out there and for your desire and wish to serve our amazing country!❤️❤️❤️
I can't even imagine what Mr. Adkins felt to be honored by being picked to sing this song. Thank you for your authentic reaction. Best version, too. 💜😭
Wonderfully emotional reaction, which is how it should be. Thanks to all my fellow vets who served, and to our future military members who answer the call to serve this great country. We as a nation are grateful.
I don'tknow how many times I've heard this song, or seen the 'official' video, and every time, it brings me to tears. Even more so as I went to Arlington while I was TDY to the DC area during my time as a solider (7 years, US Army). You can feel the weight of history there, all of those who've given that final possible payment to our nation, those fallen brothers and sisters. Thank you for reacting to this.
Ms. Dani. As a vet myself, thank you for your very sincere, and kind words. They mean more to us than you may know. Hearing your words makes me feel that it wasn't all in vain. Thank You.
Had 3 Uncles serve. One fought in Germany in tank. One injured holding a bridge in Germany. Third injured at Pearl Harbor. A cousin killed in Vietnam. The son of the one at Pearl Harbor. This tears me up every time I hear it.

My Dad served in the Navy, my older brother served in the Army and I also served in the United States Air Force. Giving your time to serve your country is something every young man should do. as a former Soldier ... this song is hard ... none of us look to that future, or think about it ... but this is a great representation of how things are, at least by my view of the after and how we would see it
My great uncle is a Korean War vet, my grandpa was a American MP stationed in Germany, my other grandpa is a Vietnam vet that has agent orange symptoms and was discharged from the war cause of shrapnel from a artillery gun explosion that he was operating with his battalion one of his members was killed from a artillery ammo box hitting my grandpa was 20 at the time and he’ll only tell me stories about it, my uncles dad that I think of a grandpa is a Vietnam vet also but don’t know what he did though, my cousin is currently serving.
Huge TA fan (my fav country voice) but to be honest one of his rougher live performances. Still a great song, scenario, etc., but he was having an obvious hard day performing (either just an off day in general because they happen, or he was getting more emotional than expected). Either way still brilliant writing and storytelling.
This song always brings a tear to my eye. You gave such a wonderful emotional reaction to my Fallen Brothers would you honor them bye reacting to George Jones 50000 names carved in the wall actually over 58,000 of my brothers did not come home from Vietnam and I remember their faces and their names and their voices they will forever be in my head thank you in advance
Dani. Try a reaction to Tim McGraw's "If You're Reading This" If you liked the song Arlington by Trace Adkins then you will also like this one. Veterans all the way.
Yes hello it's me again hello yep just give me some feedback on that video that is what you call a heart-wrenching I bent over 40 funerals in my life and that's what it's called heart-wrenching hero from Carl Supertramp Garnett God bless be safe
This is why so many Americans get so upset when those with no respect flag and the respect of the sacrifice given to make and keep them free. When you disrespect the flag, you disrespect each and everyone that lay in Arlington. They gave it all for you.
Thank you for sharing this with us! As a veteran, I agree that your presentation and reaction were perfect, and much appreciated. If you're interested in reacting to some classic feel-good music (because sometimes we need a brief relief from grim realities), I would love to see how you do with The Band's performance of The Weight, as they are joined by the Staple Singers th-cam.com/video/TCSzL5-SPHM/w-d-xo.html for a high-energy delivery which you have to see (and hear!) to believe.
my dad was a viet nam vet he made it home but many of his friends did not i love a song done by george jones its called ifty thousand names carve in the wall could yo give it a listen i think youd like it
