  • This video shows how to dry mushrooms with silca gel. Includes attempting to use a polyctrylic on the dried mushrooms and other tips and ideas. Please note: keep dried mushrooms away from children and pets unless you know they are edible. These were taken from my yard and assumed to be for crafting purposes only.

Is there a timestamp for before and after pictures? Looking to compare and contrast any changes in size and shape

"Gills" is correct, or you can use the more scientific term "lamellae". Thanks for sharing your experiments! I'm hoping to explore preserving fresh mushrooms sometime in the future as I'm finding they lose so many features when dried.

Hi, appreciate the interest. Try taking a container with enought melted wax to dip the mushroom/s in. I have used encaustic wax and beeswax, for example. You could also try clear candle wax. You will need to experiment. If real small, you can dip it all at once. But for larger ones, you may want to try dipping one side, let harden and then dip the other side so it does not fall apart. Or try dipping the stem, let harden and then the cap...
They can be trickiy, but will work. I have also used a heat gun if I get too much wax on them to gently melt off the execess. One time the cap fell off the stem and I used some UV resin to put the parts back together and that worked.
      Experiment and have fun, Em

Looks like some of those might be psilocybe genus?
