Peter, I'm somewhat concerned I'm not ready for Jody Fisher's Beginning Jazz Course Book. Do you have a recommendation for scales and positions? Thank you, Carl
Hey Carl, I think you will be just fine with this first book by Jody. Anyway, here are some other ones - Diatonic Major and Minor Scales by Andres Segovia (classical), Creative Guitar book 1 & book 2 by Guthrie Govan (Rock), A Modern Method for Guitar Scales by Larry Baione (jazz). I hope it helps Carl. Peter
Het peter, i am aspiring guitarist and i am looking for a way to self study. I have some basic understanding of intervals, chords, harmony (251 secondary dominants etc) where should I direct my learning next. Do you have any book recommendations? Btw love your vids keep up.
Hi Mateja, I have two suggestions here A) partner up with a local teacher for one session or with your more experienced music friend - ask for feedback. It is always a great idea B) Take 12 bar blues and challenge your harmonic playing( triads, 7th chords, tensions, voiceleading) challenge your linear playing (arpeggios, scales, patterns, voice leading). IF you find it easy, apply this idea on a major tune, minor tune, rhythm changes, modal tune. Find some good recordings with your songs/repertoire and your favourite artists. Working on my rhythm and memorizing new tunes is always a good challenge for me. I hope some of the books, I will be reviewing will be helpful. We all have this material at our finger tips. Great videos can be found at www.mymusicmasterclass.com
