I've had the Focus with the 1.0 ecoboost for just under a couple of months now. Once it got to 1000 miles on the clock, I did notice a real improvement in the mpg, but you do have to drive it like Miss Daisy if you want to see good figures., which is a shame as its good fun to drive. It's happy doing 45-55 mph, but watch the mpg dip if you accelerate hard or start going up hill.
That engine is epic...I have just purchased a 2017 fiesta 1.0ecoboost 125bhp and I love that little engine it's so smooth and nippy as hell.great little car and I get 65mpg too...great all rounder.
It's a common problem. I guess it comes down to how you intend to drive the car. I spent a week with the Fiat 500 TwinAir and got nowhere near the claimed figures. But a small part of that was down to the fact I spent too much time enjoying myself. I can see a similar issue with the Focus 1.0! Good luck with your situation...
Ha! Well yes, I did say 25mpg. Although it was being driven hard by a group of motoring journalists all morning, so this is hardly surprising! When does your new Focus arrive?
I was more complimentary in my written report! I'd like to give the car a proper test to test your "fantastic" theory, but on my quick drive, I'd have to agree with you. Great car.
Don't worry, the single most important thing about getting good mpg is not your engine or what fuel it uses but how you drive. If you drive a 1.6 petrol or a 1.0 turbo for that matter hard don't be surprised if you only get 15mpg. I'm sure you could get a 2.0 diesel to around 15mpg as well with a heavy enough right foot. Besides fuel is not by any means the greatest cost when running a car. 25mpg without expensive finance is better than 50mpg with expensive finance.
Well, at 2 this afternoon all was ok, but now its all a bit up in the air. lets just say a small mistake has been made with ref finance and leave it at that. I'm just gonna have to keep my fingers crossed, not to mention my toes etc etc etc. Oh by the way with regards fuel economy Whatcar.com says, and I quote "We've observed the engine struggles to meet its official economy figure." If Whatcar pointed it out then i would guess its by a significant margin..Could be wrong though!.
It's good the power they managed to get from a 1litre engine,. All be it with a turbo,. But they are so long geared to give it a 120mph top speed,. But they need to be up in the revs before it starts to pick up,. And yes while they quote 120mph try getting there it's not that quick in fifth gear or any where off the powerband it's dull, and if it needs to up in the mid revs to get the sweet spot,? What's the point of a turbo,d engine if it can't deliver that low down ommph., people should stop blowing wind up this car,. Yes it's clever technology but not really all that powerful thanks to the the long gear ratios needs a 6 speed box short ratios to get that performance potential.,
Mark C...that maybe so with the 100bhp engine but for the 125 and the 140bhp the turbo kicks in at 1400rpm all the way up to 6500rpm and they are no slouch.
Not sure if my comments get duplicated, but did you REALLY SAY "25mpg" I nearly spat my tea all over the computer... Is this right??? If it Is I better cancel my order and QUICK.....
wellllll maybe not fantastic but a great small family car, the gearbox isnt meant for rallying, just run of the mill driving, but I await your next test drive and your conclusion. cheers

It's an absurdly good thing to drive. A genuine sleeper.

Yeah it does, but I don't think it will get near the figures Ford give, which on reflection may have pushed me towards the diesel if I had known.

Is the 1.0 Eco boost economical?
I drove one the other day did'nt think the gearbox was bad in fact I thought i the car was fantastic to drive better than my focus titanium
