    Why you don't have a million subscribers is beyond me. Great teaching, great playing, beautiful tone, and the fact that you are a wonderful soul for bringing so much great information to us - this is clearly one of the best guitar teaching TH-cam channels in this solar system! Thank you, Jack!!!

      Yes, I have noticed about his playing through out all the videos I have watched. The old chicken and the egg thing - is his mellow playing derived from his character or his style? I would have to say it's him.

    Thank You for this fantastic lesson on Maj7 arpeggios Jack! I knew you could play a Maj7 arpeggio over a relative minor 7th chord, but I did not know you could also play this arpeggio over a Dom7th chord, 1 whole step down. So useful and cool sounding! And love your phrasing and melodic lead ideas here as well😄

    I agree with all the positive comments Jack I always learn something from videos thank you. Here's my minor complaint: one day one of the TH-camrs is going to figure out how to make the volume of the voice the same volume as the guitar. It's not just your videos, it's almost all of the guitar teaching videos. Many times I can barely hear the voice and I'll turn it up way up and I forget to turn it way down and here comes the music and last time I mentioned this to one of the teachers on TH-cam a lot of people made negative comments about what I was saying. Maybe I'm deaf, but I don't think so, thanks again for all the informative info, have a great day Jack

    Killer- the way you explain this has cleared them bats outta my belfry- “fitting” notes/arpeggios over solid chord progressions was fuzzy math. Now you’ve turned the light on in the dusky old space. I hope I can build on this and make it stick! Thanks.

    The intervals in a chord (1-3-5-7 etc) are measured from the root of the chord not from the first note of the scale. Not to nit pick but someone just getting into theory might get a little confused. That being said I love your stuff Jack. You have a gift for coming up with really melodic lines.

    • @EDPGuitar
      @EDPGuitar ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting point. Root is not the first note of the Scale? I see! It relates to the Chord, and as the Chord has 2, 3 or 4 notes. Can one then say it is The Root note and the other notes are the subsequent 3 5 7 9 11 13 ?

    I just practiced this for an hour or more. I took your chord progression cmaj 7, A minor, D 7, and G. Looped that. Then played the Cmaj 7 arpeggio over the jam. sometimes I slide to the D. It felt right even though it wasn’t said apart of the arpeggio. Idk? But I feel like a smooth jazz player now. Witch I want to be. I’m 40 an old guy doing this. I really appreciate the lesson. Thanks 🙏 I live in Nashville. Wonder if I could set up a personal lesson?

    Hi Jack. Great lesson. I have a question about the solo over the backing track. You use FMaj7 arpeggio over the Emin7, which gives the b9, 11, and b13 extensions of Emin. It sounds good but you didn't mention that application in your discussion (unless I missed it). Is this yet another general application of the Maj7 arpeggio, 1/2 step above a Min7 chord?
    Thanks!

    Why does the D7th dominant fit in this? It is not part of the C Major scale. What am I missing?

  • @StarDarkAshes
    @StarDarkAshes ปีที่แล้ว +1

    But you can use an F major seven arpeggio over the C major 7 , right?(Although it would work better over a C major because of the B in the Cmaj7 isn’t part of the FACE notes in the F maj7 arpeggio?) so it wouldn’t necessarily be wrong to play the F major seven arpeggio over the CMajor seven but it just wouldn’t have as many notes that connect with the chord? Please if I’m missing something let me know because I’m kind of a beginner at music theory.

    I've been on TH-cam long enough to watch several channels grow from thousands of subscribers to hundreds of thousands. Most have been, in my humble opinion, deserving of said recognition. This channel, again imo, is the most deserving of a huge following. I love watching Your videos for both the educational aspect and the entertainment aspect. The intro songs always have the most beautiful music. I would watch the videos for the music alone so the instructional aspect is a giant bonus. Jack is a phenomenal teacher. I've learned so much from the videos and I've learned the concepts very quickly. This channel is going to have subscribers in millions eventually and I'll be very proud to say I was one of the first few hundred to join.

    Jack, woke up this morning having a cup of coffee and listening to your lesson. I have always loved this sound. Probably takes me back to my first time listening to George Benson! There is so much music within the major scale. I had a music lesson from this saxophonist. I wanted to “play outside,” but he would not let me escape the tonality of Ionian & Mixolydian (relative) modes.
