Welcome back to our Pakistani Street Food series! Today we are leaving the Hunza area and heading to Skardu, to experience more of what the North of Pakistan has to offer, including traditional Baltistan cuisine.
We are starting the day at Upper Kachura Lake for a morning boat ride. There is nothing like deep blue water and being surrounded by high mountains. We followed the Indus River north to Soq Valley and came across a beautiful spot to enjoy pakora and chai.
We drove past Skardu to reach Katpana Desert. This is one of the highest deserts in the world sitting at 2,226 meters, as it is one of the coldest as well. In winter, you can see snow on the dunes, while being surrounded by snow capped mountains. We were staying at Glamp Pakistan, in their comfortable tents on the sand dunes. The staff at Glamp Pakistan prepared us some local dishes including yak ribs. They were also kind enough to set us up a bonfire, and provided golf clubs for us to try golfing in the desert! A one-of-a-kind experience!!!

My flight got cancelled back from Skardu to Islamabad & I had other plans to do. So guess what , I hired a driver & drove 18 from Skardu to Islamabad on a dangerous high up mountain road. Left 2 PM. Arrived next day around 12 PM. Insane adventure

it so weird being able to see so far into the distance, usually you cant really see that far because the land is flat and the curvature of the earth blocks it but with those huge mountains the horizon line is so alive but still super far away.. not sure that makes any sense :D

The dog you see in the begging of this video for just a micro second ,belonged to me. A friend of mine gave that dog to me for free and I named him after the Russian FIGHTER Boeca .He was a violent dog so I left him in the katpana desert in late 2018.Few months later I visited glamp and I saw him there ,I asked about him to the owner where did you get this dog from he Replied Its A russian breed ..I was like what but I was glad that he is taking good care of Boeca.

They call him Brownie now, and I sat and watched the sunrise over the desert and he joined me, snuggled on my lap and kept me warm (Sabrina). He was incredibly sweet but the other dogs were really timid of him. Also the staff at Glamp warned me that he was aggressive, but all you need to do is show him some love. Must be nice to see him and know he's healthy!
