    Hello everyone! In this episode we depart Chungju for the final 200km of our cycle tour through Korea. We had already conquered the most difficult challenges of the journey, but that doesn't mean it was easy. Yujin fell down on her bike going down hill, and her body started to give up on her, so when we made it to Seoul we had to pause our tour for a few days. But alas, we started up again, and we finished off the journey at the Ara Tower. 85/85 stamps. A complete bike passport in just over a year. The biggest thing we've ever done together. And it's just the start of our new life. Enjoy!

    Congratulations! Adventure of a lifetime for sure!
    I stumbled on your videos while looking for recommendations on touring in Korea and ended up whatching your whole grand slam in couple of days 😅
    Matt you are the most positive guy on TH-cam and Yujin the bravest cyclist 😊
    Loved the videos combining landscapes, tips and story telling. I’ll be cycling down the 4 rivers from Seoul to Busan in march with my girlfriend and will continue onto Tokyo so can’t thank you enough for all the precious tips about touring life in Korea.
    See you on the road maybe one day
    Cheers from 🇫🇷

    Hello! During the evening I watched all your spring videos about the trip to Seoul. It was pretty cool watching you. You've had enough adventures. And I need to fill in my gaps on the bike paths in South Korea as much as possible. In Vladivostok, a friend of mine also has a Grand Slam. It's certainly a lot of emotion. I take on board your camping experience. I would like to try this kind of experience, not just motels😁 I already realized that earplugs, an eye mask for sleeping and wet wipes will be my friends😄 You are great, I will follow your travels. It is quite possible to sell such series as yours on some kind of TV travel channel. It looks very easy, there is a message and an idea 👍 Keep it up! ✌️ By the way, I also became allergic, I have been tormented by this misfortune for 2 years now. For ambrosia blooms. I really understand😔 But I can live with it✊️ Thanks for the video!

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there Денис Нечаев! Thanks so much for the nice message! 😊 The Grand Slam is really fun and worth doing if you can make the trip here! It sounds like you have done some of the trails, so you should definitely try and complete it if you can! Also camping is really awesome in Korea because as long as you are clean you can pretty much camp anywhere as long as you aren't in other people's way and there are no signs that tell you "No Camping / 야영금지") Allergies are tough to deal with, but worth enduring for the beautiful scenery for sure! Stay safe and happy cycling! 😁

      @@lostthenfound I wondered where. There were a few oblique comments in your videos that made me think you were not from the lower mainland or the island. Talking to my wife today and she is open to touring in SK next year. If it is ok with you, I would like to pick your brain regarding touring as English only speakers, staying in hotels and being older. We are in our early 60's. Regards, Scott.

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@scottbridge1207 oh that's great news! You guys will have an excellent time here! And of course!
      As far as staying in hotels, you can use sites like Expedia or Agoda here no problem. The prices are the same as the Korean apps so you won't be missing out on any deals for the most part, but you might be a bit more limited as far as selection goes. If you can't find a hotel/motel on one of those websites/apps, look on Naver Maps for a hotel/motel nearby (the interface is in English), and then you can visit it in person and pay with an international card or cash. Korea has developed a lot when it comes to speaking English. If you just keep your sentences very brief and simple, you can get by no problem in most places. If they don't speak English, use the app PapaGo to translate what you want to say. You can just speak into it and it'll translate it very easily. Hope that helps, and feel free to email me at werelostthenfound@gmail.com if you have other questions you are curious about! I'm on a trip right now but I can answer it in detail when I get back in July!

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much Ewout! 😊 I'll recommend two itineraries and you can choose the one best for you and your girlfriend.
      Itinerary 1: (See the best nature/culture in Korea but less convenient)
      1) Start in Seoul and sightsee/eat amazing food for a few days.
      2) Rent a bike from Bike Nara: www.bikenara.co.kr/m/index.html?
      3) Take the bus to Sokcho, and ride South down the East Coast Bike Trail and continue along the coast to Busan. Spend a few days there sightseeing and enjoying the restaurants.
      4) Take the ferry to Jeju. Ride around Jeju. Then take the ferry to Yeosu.
      5) Ride from Yeosu to Gwangyang, and continue north up the Seomjingang bike trail. Finish and bus back to Seoul from Gangjin.
      Itinerary 2: (Most common route and easiest to pull off with less buses)
      1) Start in Seoul and sightsee/eat amazing food for a few days.
      2) Rent a bike from Bike Nara: www.bikenara.co.kr/m/index.html?
      3) Bike down to Busan down the Four Rivers Trail. Spend a few days in Busan sightseeing and eating at restaurants.
      4) Take the ferry from Busan to Jeju, and ride around Jeju.
      5) Take the ferry back to Wando and bus back to Seoul to finish.
      Optional) If you still have time, take the ferry to Yeosu. Ride from Yeosu to Gwangyang, and continue north up the Seomjingang bike trail. Finish and bus back to Seoul from Gangjin.
      Bike Nara is the only place that's well known in Seoul for tourists to rent touring bikes. I haven't heard of any other options, but they should be pretty good!
      Hope the information helps you plan your trip a bit! Feel free to ask any further questions too! 😁
