That Yorga figure was exquisitely bloody!
Love it. Speaking of selling your blood. I've been donating plasma twice a week since 1996 and i get $160 a week. In a month you get $640. That's what i use aside from my normal income to purchase my horror and metal merchandise.

Wow, that plasma donation really adds up...that money would pay some bills...

I love distinctive dummies! And by the way, the HP Lovecraft figures are sold on Cadabra Records. Not sold on Pallbearer Press.

    A really interesting episode, Raymond!
The packaging/artwork for these dolls is quite impressive and professional, for such limited Run items.
We enjoyed the appearance of Billy as well. Looking forward to your future Vincent Price episode!

Hi Raymond, love the Distinctive Dummies, I own about 8 myself, very expensive dolls to collect but truly impressive line of obscure horror characters, thanks for sharing

    • @RaymondCastile
      @RaymondCastile  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

They are great! Expensive compared to Megos and the average NECA figure, but not as expensive as some collector figures produced at higher volumes by mainstream companies.

Great collection, I love those Paul Naschy & Count Yorga figures.
I have seen taxi driver figures from ReAction but obviously much smaller scale.

If these professionally produced figures were created by a few “fans”, MEGO should form a partnership with Distinctive Dummies now that TOPPS is out of the picture. Great video as always and I hope that you and Billy’s health quickly improves.

Thanks for another entertaining video. I started collecting DD figures about the same time you did. We seem to focus on many of the same figures- Hammer, Price, Naschy, Beast Of Blood, Blind Dead, etc. It would be painful to sell any of those.
I agree about the quality of the DD box/card art. The 1/9th scale Daninsky is so special to me that I drew an overlay to cover that original card art. My overlay features head shots of Daninsky and Wandesa with a blood moon behind the werewolf figure. Poster images are preferable to substandard fan art, and most DD box/card art is very good with a few examples that are not.
The proper original movie title is La Noche de Walpurgis (1971). I believe the title Werewolf Shadow started with the Anchor Bay 2002 DVD release of the original uncut movie. The U.S. cut version is The Werewolf vs. the Vampire Woman and the English dubbing results in some ridiculous dialog which changes at least one character substantially. In that U.S. version the nudity and much of the gore is edited out, as well as original music, and the opening features scenes of the battle instead of the nudity and gore in the original version. "Woman" (singular) is the way the film is listed on IMDb. The U.S. edited version is PD and shows up on many of the old compilation DVDs in crappy prints.
I have the BCI/Deimos 2007 DVD double feature of Werewolf Shadow and Curse of the Devil which features the original uncut version of La Noche de Walpurgis. Neither of those films have had a recent release so that's a good option to see both uncut. The BCI DVDs pop up on eBay for reasonable prices with regularity. The original uncut version in Spanish with subtitles is superior to the U.S. edited and dubbed version. It's the film which made Naschy an international star. If you've only seen The Werewolf vs. the Vampire Woman then you haven't seen La Noche de Walpurgis (Werewolf Shadow), and every Naschy fan should see the real thing.
The night of Walpurgis is celebrated on the night of April 30th through May 1st.

Thank you for all the information! I have the Anchor Bay DVD, which is probably why the "Werewolf Shadow" title sticks in my mind.

God, that 12" Paul Naschy werewolf and the 8" Night of the Werewolf figures are incredible! I adore his films and wish we could get figures of the monsters from them. I agree, I like the makeup work more in the remake than the original.

Hey Ray, I may be WAY too late to the party on this, b/c I saved this to my playlist and am watching in early fall 2022. But I just looked it up on IMDB, and the title is "Werewolf vs. The Vampire Woman". In case you didn't solve it already.

    • @RaymondCastile

I don't keep up with the values on these. From what I have seen over the years, they go up and down. Last I checked, it seemed most had decreased in value. I think they peaked around eight years ago. We'll see what happens when the economy cycles around from the current downturn.
