It should be noted that Bavaria as a state had already existed as a duchy for over a thousand years before it became a kingdom in 1806. The Wittelsbach dynasty ruled Bavaria for over 700 years and provided two Holy Roman Emperors during this time.
@@myriamickx7969 Also some kings of Hungary, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Greece. If Scotland were to become independent and restore the Stuart monarchy, the best throne pretender would be a Wittelsbacher.
@simply_flo I didn't know that. But I am Belgian, and we had a queen Elizabeth, the wife of King Albert I, who was also a Wittelsbacher. Very popular and artistic, with a dash of Wittelsbach eccentricity.
I think so as well. I think it's a shame. I guess the price depends on the notoriety or fame of the people who wore them. If Princess DIana had been seen wearing them, they would have fetched millions.
Please, please, before you begin to describe and tell us about the beautiful jewellery would it be at all possible to LEARN to read the names of the various jewels etc. I have never heard such really dreadful mispronounciations of words that, being in the public domain, you should be able to pronounce. Здравствуйте, уважаемый автор !! Видео , как всегда волшебное .. Ваш бархатный голос , не мешает просмотру )) наверное мой фаворит тиара жемчужная и сережки к ней ))) , а какие чудесные картины с изображением хозяек этой прекрасной ювелирной жемчужины …. Корона с рубинами - конечно шедевр , но на голове , смотрится громоздко .. все чудесно … впервые вижу ( природную !?) черно - белую жемчужину …. Спасибо за красоту ..
The ruby and spinel parure is magnificent. The craftsmanship and design on many are unlike any in the European court. The tiara from the ruby and spinel set does look quite heavy, but how glorious! Just one note, the correct pronunciation of ‘parure’ is ‘par-WHUR’ however, as the voice pronounced it a bit differently each time, which is odd for an AI voice. It isn't the easiest word for English speakers to say. If you type in goggle “how to pronounce the word parure”, you’ll get a voice speaking the word.
My Favorite Favorire Crown Jewel ever!! Looove Everything Bavarian ! (Except Hermann Goring) Another Great Topic you are getting so awesome at video topics!
At first, I was quite offended on behalf of the Palatinate/Princess Blanche's Crown (which, in my personal opinion is the most refined and tasteful piece of jewelry to be found in the Munich Residence Treasury), until I realized that you already covered it in the video about famous and iconic historical crowns.
I know that it's just bejeweled and not jewelry, but I wish you had talked about the statue of St George and the dragon (shown twice in the video). Many years ago I was gifted a calendar of "Treasures from the Wittelsbach Treasury" for helping sort out an issue between my employer and Bayerische Landesbank. After seeing this item, I had always wanted to go to Munich to see it. I was not disappointed when I was finally able to go and see it.
A tiara is a tiara and diadem is a diadem. The spinel and ruby DIADEM is not a tiara, it is in fact a DIADEM. The Bavarian royal jewels are some of the most beautiful jewels of any collections in this world. The Bavarian royal jewels are my favorite royal jewels in the world.
Ithink it’s a crying shame these royal families sold there heirloom people in their family lenage bled and died to own these things shame on them for letting them go 😊😊is their no longer loyalty in rich aristocrat families 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Truly fabulous jewels. Much less familiar than British Crown Jewels but every bite as spectacular! Your odd pronunciation is a bit distracting however.
As a Bavarian I cringed at the pronunciation of names; it would have been respectful to at least check out names like "Therese" There is no th sound in German, it is simply pronounced as a t. Schade!
God, thank you for healing us from greed, theft, covetousness, adulteries, fornication, maliciousness, brutishness, cruelty, evil and keeping us from satans grasp and from hell in Jesus name. Amen 🙏
You are both right, of course, depending on whether you pronounce it High-German or Bavarian. But what I don't understand about English speakers is this "th" thing. So for English speakers: There is no "th" in German. Never. Ever! If there is a "th", the vowel is long. (For instance, the name "Roth". It is pronounced "Roat".)
140k? For such money you can’t even buy a flat in Munich… But I am more surprised that these jewels are not protected as historical and cultural heritage…
Why would they sale the jewels and why accept such low sales bid. Does someone just want cash to invest, or in need of cash to sell such from jewels instead of turning them over to the treasury?
I wonder if any of these were bought by Queen Elizabeth or her family at the auction? Obviously they wouldn't attend the auction themselves but there could be people that are there to serve this purpose. Then again, i suppose it might be considered badluck for a Queen or Princess to wear a diadem of a fallen Royal house

Not like I would ever get to wear it, but it would be something if that tiara came apart into two, even three perhaps, smaller tiaras to be worn at "lesser occasions". 😉 The Stuart tiara (Netherlands) can be worn in less overwhelming configurations. This one looks as if made for an empress; or the wife of a shah. 🤷
