Oh my young man this is beautiful, my Chinese Jamaican sister in-law just arrived yesterday she said that you are a very handsome young man, when watching this video, seeing you eat all those lovely foods. She asked me also if you have ever visited Jamaica before and I replied, I don't think he has. She said that it's a very diverse country, and there is a good size Chinese Jamaican community. If I can recollect one of your viewers is going there soon, it will be nice my son to go and experience the world while you still can, life is too short. Jing my sister in-law was born in China and moved to Jamaica when she was five, she told me that the best time to go is in early April. Think about going there my son, before I leave this world, as I am a very sick old man, the doctors only gave me less than 6 months to live, as the cancer has spread. That's why I haven't been posting much lately. Jing is the one who has typed this comment on my behalf, as I am too weak to do it myself. My request young man is to see that beautiful Island again, but through your eyes could you do it for me please!
God Bless You My Son

As a Taiwanese people with a background in East Asian cultures, I just want to provide some clarification on certain terms mentioned in this video. 😂 😂
In East Asia, the term "Lantern Festival" ("元宵節" or “上元節” in Traditional Chinese characters) generally refers to the fifteenth day of the first lunar month. It is commonly considered the concluding day of the lunar new year celebration. This festival is distinct from the "Spring Festival," which encompasses the first few days of the lunar new year.
The event featured in the video is NOT termed "Lantern Festival"; rather, it is commonly referred to as the "Lunar New Year Fair" ("年貨大街" in Traditional Chinese in Taiwan, or "年宵大街" in mainland China). This fair is a prelude to the lunar new year, typically held about a week before the start of the new lunar year. During this time, East Asians prepare for the holiday by purchasing ingredients for traditional dishes, snacks, and other items, as many stores shut down briefly for the lunar new year celebration, in order to allow people to take some days off and reunite with their families and relatives.
Some additional insights into the celebration of the lunar new year include the fact that East Asian countries share similar customs, though specific celebrations and ceremonies may vary across different regions. The term "lunar new year" reflects the traditional East Asian calendar, where a month is considered a cycle of entire lunar phases, approximately 29 days on average. This lunar calendar differs from the solar calendar, such as the Gregorian calendar.
Traditions surrounding the "Lantern Festival" often involve lanterns, lights, and fire. Exhibitions featuring lantern and light displays, as well as firework shows, are common during this time. To AK, if you still stay in Taiwan during lantern festival, this year, there are some great lantern exhibitions you can visit. The first one is near Ximen and Beimen (Taipei Lantern Festival), and another one near downtown Taipei is held at New Taipei Metropolitan Park (New Taipei Lantern Festival) (this park is next to Sanchong Metro station with Airport line service and orange line service). Or, you can also go to Tainan to visit the largest annual event, the Taiwan Lantern Festival.
For more detailed information on the celebration of Lunar New Year in East Asia or the Lantern Festival, you can refer to the Wikipedia articles on Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival!!
You'll never go hungry when you're at Dihua Street...lots of foods sellers and decorations shops. the atmosphere is well suit to the lunar new year celebration 🎆 🍾 👌...thanks AK for bringing us along this famous street market in Taipei...🎉😅
