Hello, i have tried to learn the Russian language past 6 month. But i have very hard problems to memories verbs and sentence. I have heard it is easier only to go for vocabulary when comes to memory. Becasue when you dont use the language on a regular basis its hard to build a foundation. Do you have any good suggestion on how to memorise the language? Spasiba
Hello Jonny, yes, that happens quite often as Russian words can look and sound too bizarre :)) What I normally recommend is to go through very simple and short sentences, though they should be practical. So that you see the result, so that you feel you are able to have a simple conversation. Things like: мне нужно .... (I need... to do that, that, that, to buy that and that) / мне 25 (30, 40, 50) лет (drilling this pattern you memorize numbers) / на выходных я ... (at the weekend I ... and you practice and memorize the activities). Can you see what I mean? Simple sentences and all of them describing your everyday stuff. Put them down, read out loud several times. Do that again next day. Then change a little bit, practice these 20-30 words in different contexts till you feel comfortable using them. Then you take the next group of words. With time you'll feel it easier.
The example at 12:19 should be translated "when I was driving to work..."?

Everything made perfect sense until you got to the past tense. What happens there? Do the perfect and imperfect forms switch around again?? How can ехать switch from perfect to imperfect, and how does the imperfect ездить mean "went," which is a simple (perfect) form?? This is totally confusing and makes zero sense. Why are things backwards in the past tense compared to present? Can you make a one page summary of these rules intead of putting them in 10 confusing videos? I need the info all in one place.
Translation is wrong. It says "RABOTU", however in translation it says, 'DOM' (Home)

Эти формы не существуют. СВ для ездить и ехать - это поехать. Только одна форма.

Dear Alfia, here is something I struggle with: Perfective verbs are verbs that are used to indicate one time action, and imperfective verbs are for repeated actions. But with verbs of motion this contrast is already solved with the идти/ходить pair and the ехать/ездить pair. So how does verbs of motion still have perfective/imperfective forms?

Нет, это не исключение. Когда мы отвечаем на вопрос "как часто", то "в" переводится как "per" и мы используем Винительный падеж: два раза в год / три раза в месяц / пять раз в неделю / один раз в день
То же самое и о скорости: 20 километров в час / 3 метра в секунду
