    The thing I always hated about fighting sports like boxing and MMA is the competitors have a choice who they fight way to often. Whatever organization you're contacted or fighting for should be who determines who fights who. Look at Sugar Ray Leonard wouldn't fight Marvin Hagler until he was older and slower same with Mayweather and Pacquiao should have fought at least 7 or 8 years earlier. Roger Federer doesn't say he won't play Raphael Nadal, the Yankees don't say they won't play the Mets in a world series if that's the two teams in the world series, the Knicks won't say they won't play the Celtics. If you're a mechanic for Ford you don't tell your boss you won't work on a mustangs or a Chevy mechanic says they won't work on a Camaro. So fighters shouldn't have the choice who they fight the organization should tell the fighters who they fight.

    I understand why people can't get into boxing. It's so nakedly corrupt. Seeing the viewership numbers dwindle breaks my heart because I love boxing. Always have. Grew up watching old fights on ESPN Classic. Friday Night Fights was always a favorite of mine when I was in high school since it would start my weekend.
    But I understand. Teddy Atlas spiting truth like this makes me feel a bit better, but it also hurts to know that even though these are open secrets, precisely nothing will change. And you'd think the alphabet organizations would change because their lunch is getting eaten by MMA. But they won't.

    • @CornPopWazABadDude
      @CornPopWazABadDude 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It happens so often too. I've been a boxing fan for like 30 years and you just have to laugh sometimes at the scorecards. I mean seriously delusion scores and then the avg dopes watching it will actually agree lol. I've actually laughed at least a dozen times after fights when the scores were read.

    • @poocrayon4588
      @poocrayon4588 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Josh Compton I don't think it's the corruption ruining it - I think it's the lack of accesability for the average person who may actually enjoy it. The average sports watching guy who may enjoy boxing casually like a bunch of other sports isn't going to go out his way to pay the absurd prices - especially when he can probably see a lower quality replay on youtube later.
      Honestly I like MMA, but boxing tends to be more entertaining on a more consistent level. It still should be bigger but it's never seen by the average person because it's made too inaccesable.

    I just will love to see something done about judges in boxing. Maybe having a computer deciding who won the fight, then we probably will have a fair decision in each fight. Is not fair after all the sacrifice and training a boxer have to go through to just sweep' m away like that. Dishonesty is hurting boxing a lot.

    If more people applied this critical eye to politicians in Washington, you’d see the same garbage corruption that you see in boxing. Guys pay to have their guys move up while everyone else is left with scraps. It’s obvious to see and we gotta vote em out. Same with boxing. If it’s so obvious to see, get some fresh people in there with some structure where everyone benefits, and not just the people who can afford to pay $$$

    For context, The Helenius vs. Wilder "fight" just ended.
    The fight is over and so is boxing, at least for me. I've seen fixed fights and dives before but this one pissed me off more than any other. Those who have also watched boxing for 40+ years know what I'm talking about, and this "fight" wasn't even done well! I've seen all of Helenius' fights and this was not him, it's obvious that he took a bribe and threw the fight, I'm not even going to explain anything about what happened, I'm too pissed off and disgusted that the sport has become this kind of farce. If you believe that this "fight" was legitimate, you probably also believe that a certain old man who shits his pants regularly and creeps on little girls got 81 million votes in the last e l e c t i o n. Boxing is dead to me, and I was hoping that somehow it would get better, but after this garbage, I'm done.

      Yeah Pac-Man clearly beat Bradley twice just like Triple G clearly beat Canelo twice... and speaking of CANELO he is the one in boxing getting the MOST CORRUPTION behind him.....example
      LARA beat him yet he got a gift decision by pay judges...
      Austin Trout beat him or gave him a draw yet he got the decision from corrupt paid judges....
      even in the Mayweather fight where Mayweather dominated all 12 rounds, Clenelo still got a draw on one card from Paid corrupt judges.
      Clenelo and his promoter Oscar Dela Hoya of Golden Boy promotions are bad for boxing

      He is letting people know what is going on about corruption fine but he puts up an act like he isn't part of that corruption. If you in boxing as a trainer, boxer, promoter, manager, judge, you are that so thanks for clearing that up. This person seems to be speaking out against it yet he is part of it. Now that's character or hypocrisy. Anyway thanks for reminding everyone how shit is ran in the pros I feel sorry for all the athletes getting the shaft by all these mf trainers, managers, promoters.

      CarlosBernardo10 people change, and it DOES take character to one day make the proverbial u turn and draw a line in the sand. I used to work for a company for years that as I rose through ranks I saw how gross people were atop of the $4 Billion ladder. It caused me to literally re-think my life, walk away from a lot of money and start a new career.
      So while I think your sentiment and heart is in the right place, I don't think we should judge people in a guilt by association 30 years ago. All his fighters love him, that's not an accident. Also I agree entirely that prize-fighters, especially in MMA and lower tiers of boxing (at least here in the states) are grossly underpaid.
      My point was that he's telling the truth now, not a judge of past character.

    it still unbelievable for me that Canelo's side got to organize the second fight again and GGG's side just went with it. it was the same with Andre Ward and Sergey Kovalev. especially with Kovalev who cried about referees being American, fight happening in America with American fighter and that's what cost him. and what his team does next? completely the same thing. okay, Kovalev lost with no chance, but GGG's situation is just ridiculous.

    I've been around boxing for 35 years and this is how it works, BOXING IS FIXED! Promoters with big money push their top crowd gathering fighters into the fights they want and know will draw crowds and money, they pick and choose their opponents, they pick and choose their judges, they bribe commissioners and this goes on for as long as the boxer brings in the 💰..when someone like Tyson for example starts to get stoned,drunk,asking for more money and basically starts causing problems for his managers and promoters they let their fighter slide,let him indulge in sex,drugs & booze all the while convincing him they got this next fight in their pocket..the fighter steps into the ring out if shape,out of focus,and fucked up from excessive living and loses the fight and all his belts..meanwhile your same promoters and handlers bet against you and made millions.

GGG vs Canelo 1 was a terrible result....2nd fight GGG didn't learn much from the first fight, he shoulda known if he don't at least knock Canelo down he's gonna lose....but boxing robbery has gone on forever, Holmes Spinx 1, Sugar Ray vs Hagler.....I could go on...and Teddy was in the game at those times.
