My wife bought me a D1A from a dear friend of mine that is in mint condition . It plays like a dream . I’m an experienced guitarist that has wanted one since my mid twenties (guessing) . I’m now 69 and it is as advertised. Great video here.
I just got a Collings 0002H SS Cutaway, German Spruce and I absolutely love it. Just spending my evening listening to TH-cam videos of Collings demos, and discovered yours. And I'm glad I did. Nice variety, and while they all had their moments in the sun, I really liked the Baritone 1. Wow! I've never heard one before and I was a bit taken back to hear such lower register resonance. Thank you for taking the time to do this. Hope to see more!
I’ve watched this so many times with different earbuds and headphones and I must say, the plain D1 (first guitar) takes this video by quite a long shot for me. All of them are stellar and Collings build quality is essentially perfect every time but every now and then one of them is kissed by an angel before it gets strung up. The D1 at the beginning got that kiss. Whomever got that guitar is a lucky player.
Glad to take that D1 off of your hands. Looking forward to it arriving in a few days. By the way, I appreciate the clever banter, Jesse. But maybe that’s only because I’ve been watching your guitar video reviews for a months now before deciding on guitar #1 in this video.
Collings guitars is also famous in Korea. The sound is really beautiful, and most of all, it's been nearly two years since I played d1, but I'm still not tired of it. Thank you for the review.
LOL I was waiting for the D1A torrified, the baritone was a funny surprise, awesome instrument in its own right but would have loved to hear a baked adi on the comparison. I recently got the D1A (non-baked), and it is so clear and responsive, you can really hear and feel how quick the notes leave the guitar, it’s like they just leap off the soundboard. I’ve never experienced that before. I can’t put it down!
These Collings D1/2/3 comparisons are really helpful. Are you going to do any comparisons of different side and back woods (specifically mahogany vs. rosewood) with the same top wood? Checked through your videos and didn't see anything other than the D3 comparison.
Hello can you please and thank you send me the to taylor George strait played also send me a collings D3 the George strait plays. I was born mentally challenged and George strait is one of my favorite singers
Nothing sounds like a great dread. Nothing. And don't let anyone try and convive you otherwise. That Sitka sounds legit, Collings always sounds better with sitka, Martin with Addy. First one was nice but a hair muddy which is odd on a Collings
Sorry Paul, though we have been in lock-down with $1,000,000 worth of guitars since March... Our sense of humor has been stretched well beyond 'clever banter'. If you are looking for a better level of entertainment, you might consider switching the channel.
@@ArtisanGuitars you guys do you. But consider customer's time/attention. It's quantifiable. Most studies say you've got 10-20 seconds to capture audience, a bit more if they have an interest. When I've clicked on a link promising collings but then get a minute of really bad stand-up....you've broken the promise the title made. I didn't even make it to the first guitar. Just edit all that to the end if you have to leave it in as outakes. Another way to look at it. Say someone's not on an unlimited plan, you're asking them to pay for unnecessary content. If I was auditing your marketing internally I'd almost guarantee where you could see drop off points occuring in the data and customer groups that you're losing. I'm not saying this to be mean or rude. I'm saying it as someone with 15 years doing this professionally. But as you suggested I will be looking elsewhere in the meantime.

OMG! You had me falling out of my chair with the "90's" Joni Mitchell remark. And, I must add, she is my one of my absolute favorites.

That would be me that ended up getting that beautiful sounding D1. Every time I play it, I fall more in love with it!
D1 for the win!
I absolutely love these videos! Comparing like you do is so genius. It’s like being there myself. Thanks!
Glad you like them!
Dude, you do extremely thoughtful, musical, and funny demos. Thanks.
I can only think of one word to describe the sound of that D1.....majestic....holy crap 😢
I meant to say the first one 😊
I loved the first one. Simple and understated (well they all are for that matter), but it sounded fantastic.

Thank you for doing this video. I really enjoy hearing the comparison of tonal ranges.
You are so welcome!
That baritone sounds so cool. I am not sure I have consciously heard one before.

Great review...thanks!
3:47 "But it's gonna get baked"
laughed so hard at that
Awesome video!!! BTW what's that guitar on your left the one with sun burst finish? Looks really good!!
the Big Ten of guitars ? of these guitars, in this instance I like number 2, the baked sitka top.

Yes, more videos coming along with over 100 new Collings on order.
the non talking parts sounded especially good
I have the CW A Indian and it’s the best sounding guitar I’ve ever heard, in my hands or others’
I've never went from instantly hating someone to finding them endearing in one video
What's the difference between a D1 and D2?
1
Never mind the Bollocks give me the D-1.😊😋🤗

@@PaulCypert Jesus man, write a book ffs. Lecturing people about it banter and then writes a 50 paragraph comment on how to stop it
If there was an award for dead pan humor in these videos, you'd get it XD XD XD.
