I forget the village where my Mum family come from, there are still family there but my Dad always said everyone had immigrated to all parts of the world and there's no one left but my Uncle when he was a.live took his family back to see the old family home and it had been used as a boarding house....

But the same holds for me -- I only have an uncle in the village who maintains the ancestral house. Even if you cannot see/enter the ancestral house itself, it is worthwhile to see the village and experience the food and culture.
