Apparently the USGA had decided, at some point, that wind could not be factored into course ratings, except for seaside courses. Someone that I know at the Nebraska Golf Association brought some USGA folks out to Nebraska. After a couple of holes in the 25-30 mph wind, the USGA decided that wind could be factored in for ratings on non-seaside courses.
Anyone else here remember when Sam Sneed PUTTED off the tee at Pebble Beach? He avoided the winds by putting it down the cart path, chipping on the green and sinking his par putt. That's absolute genius.
I like just relaxing on a sofa and watching these vlogs on my new 160 inch projector in 4K!!!! And you are so damn consistent with that driver I am jealous... ;)
Played golf south Texas where the wind was coming from West in your face , Every drive and second shot to the green was unbelievable,, felt like we dug long ditch just to get back to club house . I my self enjoy playing in the wind . show's more confidence..you can play the game golf no matter what's in front of you . Great video and nice golf course .
Don't you just love when you are ready to tee off during a windy round, you have aimed based on the wind plus you have adjusted your club selection also based on the wind.....and when you are ready to swing the wind temporally dies down! lol
I was once on a hole 154Yds elevated tee over a valley to a less elevated green with a 60-70mph cross wind it was crazy both my buddies missed the green so instead of going for the green I hit a 5 wood really high right into the wind and luckily landed on the green my buddies thought I was crazy at first, I normally would of hit a 7iron and my 5 wood would usually go about 225yds so just a little bit of creativity
Gen, u look very athletically built now as compared to when u were still in Malaysia. Am surprised that you didn’t finish low in your approach shot or doing any knockdown shots even though the wind was super strong. Most of your shots finished high. Maybe u wanna share your thoughts. Thanks. 😉
Wow, you played great in that wind. In this part of So Cal. the Santa Ana winds usually come thru between September and January. That is not an easy course on a quiet day. Thanks for the video!!!
Life long SoCal resident. This is not Santa Ana winds. Yes you’re correct they come in late summer to fall. And rarely at other times of year. But Santa Ana’s are northern winds, very low humidity very hot in summer. But can very cold in winter but low humidity(best time for snow). Judging from video, this is neither. This is the typical afternoon winds that pick up in the Inland Empire courses. This has more to do w rain shadow effect of SoCal geography where the ocean is adjacent to desert then is bordered w mountains. Play any Inland Empire course in afternoon vs early morning is completely different conditions. Also Santa Ana winds will be same early morning vs afternoon.
I hope U do well on the LPGA Tour. In order for YOU to take your game to a different level & Win a lot of Tournaments, PLEASE incorporate Boxing Training w/Weight Lifting into your daily training. That, along with a proper diet & going to sleep early. U already train like a Champion, because U train/practice alone. I wish nothing but the best for U, Lady Geneviene. Respectfully, Santiago Murillo-Tucson, AZ.
I hope you can make it back to the US soon since I enjoy the variety of courses you played. Also as someone who lives far from the equator, I get a variety of conditions during my season. I don't mind a warm wind, or a decent breeze. But some of the spring or fall days have cool/cold wind that bites you and makes things so uncomfortable. It truly makes golf challenging at times. And not just how the ball carries, but even some putts at times. I saw some putts break less, or more with strong winds. Also good luck in Spain!
Was my home course for a while. I put it to 2 ft with a 4 iron on the first for an easy eagle once. I hit I 3 hybrid with a 30mph crosswind into the par 3 220yd. to 10 ft. Love the course.
@@progpuss I don't have many, but one time in a 40mph crosswind a 290 yard drive just rolled OB on the right about 10 feet off the fairway even though I started it 10 yards left of the left side. I just needed to start it a bit more left. I was consistently shooting low 70s there.
in a comp here in brisbane..it was windy really bad..and on a par 5..i was about 126m to the green for my 3rd shot into the wind..i hit a full swing 3 hybrid which normally goes 195m to 200m..it never make it to the green..it blown back about 5m lol
I play most of my golf in wind similar/more than that. The trees grow sideways on my home course. It's located on the South Coast of England on top of cliffs. 40mph wind is not unusual. To make things even more fun you don't get flat lie because it's very very hilly. So to play in conditions like that it's essential to lower the ball flight and to hit it on a down range trajectory. By moving the ball back in the stance, choking down on the club, three quarters swing and follow through even with the driver is the only way to control the ball flight. Downwind can be just as tricky. Stock 9 iron normally 155 yards can travel 200 yards so flighting the ball a bit lower can even be beneficial downwind. Chipping round the greens into the wind is hardly ever done with a wedge. 7 iron is more useful. Getting the ball rolling. Same downwind. Putting is the hardest part. On a fairly straight putt the wind can make the ball break loads. It's not worth waiting in between gusts to hit the putt. Try keeping it on the high side of the hole with good pace. Dead weight is no good. It'll just blow away from the hole. Wider stance as you say Gen is beneficial and most of us who play "up top" use putters about 2 inches shorter than off the shelf. Yes it's a lot of fun playing in the wind....as long as you're striking the ball cleanly.
Gen, have you ever seen the film Duel (One of Spielberg's early films)? Anyway the group following you round the course reminded me of it. Every time you looked back up the fairway there they were - just waiting and waiting.
I like playing in the wind because I get to hit so many different types of shots. I love playing in the wind during a comp because 95%+ of the field hates it and they beat themselves, making it even easier for someone like me who likes the wind. Rain, on the other hand, is an entirely different animal. I'd rather WD than play in the rain.
Commitment and acceptance are the biggest things to golf in the wind. Pick a target, pick a club and go for it. Just accept that you can hit it perfectly and not be anywhere near where you wanted to be!
Hi there! you were missing them on the high side today, or holing them. Is this a conscious decision, not to miss them, but to aim further to the high side? They say the 'high side' is the pro side.
Do you plan your rounds the day before once you've seen the wind forecast with GPS maps? I learned this from Bernhard Langer and find it really helpful as often you can't feel the wind below the trees..
Is Chucuchu a sponsor or do you just really like them? They seem bit 💰for me to randomly buy. Living midwest I tend to play more flighted, knock down and stinger type shots, though it's big open plains at most courses here.

Gen... Your workouts are paying off. You look so much stronger in your videos than you did in your intros! Proud of you.
Beautiful course. The wind is crazy blowing. That low shot helps a ton in those conditions.

This is a great course. Super scenic.
GEN! You looking good! Keep up the hard work!

It is so enjoyable to sit back and watch a vlog of you hitting shot after shot so consistently. You have such a beautiful game of golf.

Great thoughts about trust when playing in the wind Gen. Thank you. Your swing looked great in those conditions. Keep up your great work👍🏻
Great job at the LET Q Gen!! 💪💪💪💪

My bucket list is to play a round of golf with Gen, that would be a dream come true
Thanks for the video! Always brightens up my day.
Your play was very awesome.
Nice course. Great Topic.
It seems a lot of fun you playing in the strong wind :)

Played this course during Santa Ana wind blowing 40mph.

He doesn't have any. Ever.
Great advice & solid video 👍 can’t help but notice how crisp your hitting your irons lately!!
Great video! Is this Oak Quarry in Southern California?

Here's hoping you get to the Scottish and British Opens next Summer to take advantage of your skills in the wind.

What are the tentative dates you will be playing on the LPGA? I don't want to miss that.
Have you play Morongo tukwet canyon golf courses?
Hi there! you were missing them on the high side today, or holing them. Is this a conscious decision, not to miss them, but to aim further to the high side? They say the 'high side' is the pro side.
Nice 👍
Closed it out with a birdie!
Hi Gen. Why only 9 holes and why the back. I know it's like playing two different courses and I'm the wind made a difference. Thanks for the tips.
Tim
Do you plan your rounds the day before once you've seen the wind forecast with GPS maps? I learned this from Bernhard Langer and find it really helpful as often you can't feel the wind below the trees..
I look at the N/S/E/W direction of holes to see which way wind is blowing and where the ball will likely end up and what sort of shots are needed
Never seen that course to be so windy
Is Chucuchu a sponsor or do you just really like them? They seem bit 💰for me to randomly buy. Living midwest I tend to play more flighted, knock down and stinger type shots, though it's big open plains at most courses here.
Clearly, it's the golf skirts
What wind?
Thanks for the tips. Sometimes, it seemed your putts were being turned away by tiny chameleons.
👍🏽
I always misjudge the wind. :(
how much money do you make in a year?
$134 million.
Hate playing in the wind..Mulligans should be allowed...
that's not wind... thats a tornado... lol
Really? Are we not going to talk about the driver off the deck for your 2nd at the par5 18th? Driver-Driver-PW-Putt birdie!
I don't think the focus of this video is about how to play in the wind tho... it's about something else much more prettier and cute...
Loser.
LooHOOhooHOOhooHOOser!
Hey lim...
