Thank you for posting this 'behind the scenes'. This and your Spotify ad buy video were very informative about things Ive thought about but not done. Really appreciate it! I agree on your thoughts about if you HAD to cater to the libraries, very well thought out. If its any consolation to you - I made $0 in 2022 from my music 🙂 I do however get a little traction with academic conferences etc. so it is still rewarding to create and I hugely enjoy the process. I think playing out live, even as a support for a bigger traditional 'band' is financially the way to go. Thanks again for a thought provoking video!

Ya but it also depends what kind of music you make. Is it really the kind of music people are buying? Does it sound like the music in the most popular section on Motion Array? It's important to focus on styles that sell well if you want to make good money.

Yes for sure. This is probably the best advice regarding this. Something i struggle to follow myself.

Man you are absolutely right IT is more lucrative, and music is kinda hobby and secondary for me right now and was thinking of making music full time but thats gonna take pretty long time to make an income for living from music. Like yourself Im also going to produce music for myself right now and keep learning it to really master it while continuing with my IT job. Also would like to mention that to make a quality music we need a good DAW, vsts and plugins for mixing and mastering which again would cost us money. so having a primary job is really necessary to buy all these stuff. Thanks for the insight this video would serve as a great eye opener for anyone who just blindly jump into music to make it as a career.

Yes I agree. You need to treat the subject seriously if you want to get somewhere. I am not able to give my 100% to music production, but its fine by me. My normal day-job caters for everything I need and working an hour or two overtime earns me more those two hours than I earned in total from stock in 2022.

    Useful knowledge.
What did you send to motion array the second time? I'm in the process of submitting, too.

I focused on sending off my best produced track, mixing and sound-quality wise. And focus on one genre, not go all over the place.

Bro have you tried other options to earn? Like offering your services on fiverr or upwork? i know these are not passive income but it's an avanue to earn also. all areas collecively adds to that right? i feel lik you are so genuine in what you are sharing, upfront and honest. i am following your journey, hopefully we all can do this full-time soon.

Hey! Thanks for the suggestions. I have thought about fiverr/upwork but it looks like its a race to the bottom there as well earnings-wise. I am only focusing on youtube and the occasional stock music library for the time being. Thats enough to be honest. :)

Did pricing your music low increase your sales or no?
