Personally I'm happy with the default sensitivity of Move's pads. Moreover, I like those pads more than on Push 2. But I would agree, not having such a setting is weird on the pad controller/device.
Strange, I have no problem with the sensitivity on my Move pads whatsoever. In fact, I prefer them over the Push 2 with its pads set maximum sensitivity. Maybe you got a production anomaly.
I totally agree with the pad sensitivity issue. What's the point of buying an instrument to play it and realizing that they haven't taken care of the key sensitivity aspect? It takes away all desire to use it. I have returned a PUSH 3 for that very reason, thanks for the heads up that Move has the same problem going on. I will wait patiently for Novation to update their Launchpad to MK4. Regards.
Thanks a lot for your comment. I was thinking about the push 3 as well but I don't like the weight of it as I'm traveling a lot. But I assumed already that the pads wouldn't be as nice to play on as on novation's instriments
@@lenshuu As far as I have been able to ascertain, the best pads on the market are the Maschine mk3/mikro/plus pads. In fact they are better than the PUSH 3 pads. The PUSH 3 pads, to be honest, have a little way to go to reach the sensitivity of the Maschine Mikro pads, but in terms of velocity dynamics they have a longer way to go. To make matters worse, the Push 3 pads are inconsistent with each other, i.e. some pads respond slightly more sensitively than others and Ableton does not offer any tool to adjust the sensitivity individually for each pad. This, added to the fact that the tool they offer to adjust them all at the same time does not offer the appropriate sensitivity, made me ask for a return ticket. The only advantage is that they respond to touch when you slide your fingers on the X/Y axes, but as they lack sensitivity and force you to squeeze them, they are not very inviting to use. I referred to Novation because, although they are not as good as Maschine's, they are usually better than PUSH's, so I'll be waiting to see what new hardware they bring to the market. Nice to meet someone who won't settle for just anything :)
Same. I was very surprised I didn't hear anybody talking about the bad pads on the move or push, hence I decided to make this video. Usually don't make videos about music instruments at all but just hiking or holiday videos. I had the Maschine mk3 but I didn't like the menus and the software looked very bad on high resolution displays like on my iMac or macbook. I wasn't sure if NI was still developing that or if Maschine becomes a dead product kinda like the Traktor series, so I sold the mk3 again a year ago. My wish would be a move with better pads and a display almost as big as the one from push. But that might take a long time to have something like that.
@@lenshuu Move's form factor is practically perfect. It would lack, as you say, to add a small screen under each encoder to know what you are going to modify before turning them. With that and the pads being really good, they would have an excellent groovebox/ableton controller with a very long run, but I guess we'll have to wait for other iteration :) In the meantime, let's see if Novation brings out a new groovebox, since Move is heir to the Circuit and they will have something to say in the not too distant future.
I think it is fine if you return it.. but why did you expect the move should act like the push? It is just not the same device, it is like you expect the akai force is the same as mpc.. same software but not same device.. 🤷🏻♂️ i get the move for couch and brakes on work.. my studio is filled up, but there is no device this portable and fast as the move!
I totally agree. Besides Push, Ableton Move has lots of pros and it's like functioning more as a sketchpad than a fully-fledged sampler. The primary purpose is to help you quickly generate musical ideas on the go, which you can later finalize in Ableton Live. Additionally, it serves as a standalone device, an Ableton controller, and a USB audio interface. Therefore, it would be unfair to dismiss it as junk.
Just like I mentioned in the video, I do love a lot about it and it's a great device. But the most fun part of playing an instrument is the interaction and if that doesn't feel great.. Yes it's just a sketch pad but it's most important part are the pads. I heard in other reviews that the pads are basically the same as on the push 2 but never heard anybody mentioning the sensitivity can't be changed. As I'm traveling a lot, I'd rather take the launchpad or maybe the circuit tracks with me as I have limited space. The ableton integration is a big advantage ofc. Going with two guitar cables and an audio interface with the novation tracks kinda sucks but if it's not fun for me to play on the move, why keep it?
I saaw on another video someone playing with pad velocity to create something more natural sounding, is that something that would help you? -if you read the comments - th-cam.com/video/yQKFluMnXhA/w-d-xo.html
@@lenshuu Im not sure, but they have another video where he makes a whole track and in that (near the start i think) he tweaks the velocity to make it more 'human sounding'

In my case it is the other way around, the pads on my Ableton Push 2 are harder than those on my Ableton Move.
Even if you set the sensitivity to 10?
Maybe in a few more versions

I thought about this too. It's possible.
But still, why is there no setting for it? :/

I mean, I have my Launchpad connected up to the Move. You can also do that now thanks to Moves 1.2 update?
That's actually a great idea! But it would take up a lot of space. I'll try out the circuit tracks first
