He did very good. He talked slow and did not use any technical terms. You trained him well, but his intelligence was the key. I commend him for a JOB WELL DONE.
Thank you sir for your continuing great videos. I love the way you all can get to the problem quickly and easily with your knowledge and tools. If I lived closer to your shop I would certainly bring in my vehicles to you only for repair!
I made use of this series to repair my 06 liberty transmission. Corys narration was great in helping me in changing out the planet's, which blew apart. Could not have done it without ur videos. Thank you!
Dear Mr. Duane, I havent see you since long time. I just like to say your movies enliven the soul because it is the real , professional & honest. Keep show up even if it is a common thing. I know this is hard to do sometimes with time constrains. I just wanted to express my joy in whatever you did. John Kaplanian
Thanks for the great video and all your time and patience to explain in deatail I await the trans rebuild video I think Hiram Gutierrez has the tear down for this trainy
Here is the deal with the 42, has been known to go though turbine as well as output sensors. I owned a trams shop for many years. We would connect directly to the sensor with the lab scope. And replace both sensors with known good and do it again. Often it was a bad sensor.
I’ve been to 3 different mechanic shops My 2003 jeep wrangle ,4x4, auto, 6 cylinder My jeep vibrates (only) from 1st gear to 2nd gear when speed is above 20 m/p/h Under 20 mph, smooth. No one can figure out what causing it to vibrate. Any help would be helpful
Good question. Not in this case. In the upcoming rebuild video I'll show you the broken parts that would not let it shift. If, however, it would have been some other fault, it may have been able to limp in.
Do you deal with 545rfe Dodge transmission and if yes what would cause total no going into gears ! Good transmission fluid but won't go into forward or back up ! Limp moded . PO 750 code ???
How do you diagnose a transmission problem if you have an older vehicle and you don't have any sort of diagnostic computer ? I have a 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. It has a 42RE Trans. and a 4.0 liter engine. It won't shift into 4th gear . Any ideas ?
I just bought a wrangler 2012 It has the 3.6 v6. On the way home from the dealer it shifted from I think 2nd to 3rd then back down to 2nd and jerked. Then the traction control light came on and the check engine light start to blink and deep twice. I shifted up but would not shift down. I could shift it manually. I shut it off for a half an hour and then it ran home without any problems. Check engine light stayed on. Any ideas what the problem is. It is back at the dealer which is very big so hoping they know what they are doing.
hello sir how are you,sir ihave a 2006 chrysler 300 transmission problem, its like kicking while running on they highway, can you give me a lil advise about this trouble?before i go to the mechanic?
So I parked my jeep again just put a new crate motor in my 2011 4d jk took 6 months to get it back warranty covered it shop was slow getting it back and now I got a code P0740 Torque Converter clutch Soleniod Circuit (code) its still drivable but I'm parking it in hopes that its a electrical problem and not a mechanical problem figuring if I keep driving it till it get worst it could become mechanical can cost me more? any body know how many Torque converter solenoids are on my transmission 42RLE 3.8L 4WD? Thanks for the video!
Hi Real fixes. My Jeep JK 2012 and JKU 2014 have been going into limp mode. Just loses power and chokes. I've had the transmission changed on the 2014 JKU. 2 months later - back in limp mode. I've not changed the transmission on the 2012 JK. Any ideas?
Without seeing it there is no way for me to be sure, However from what you have said I would not suspect the transmission. Lim in mode ia basically a PCM purposely restricting the engine performance to protect it, and still allow you to drive it off the road. A good and detailed review of "freeze frame" data should point to a likely cause. Take it to a shop that is known for good and through diagnostic work.
@@realfixesrealfast Thank you so much for your feedback. I will have it checked out again. The garages here just can't find the issue and keep going for the typical fix (throttle body cleaning, air filter, and changing the transmission).
@@rathicapalavar6424 Sometimes a good shop is hard to find. My suggestion, go to a local parts store, ask to speak to the person (sometimes its the manager, sometimes it is the person who has been there the longest) who specifically handles the repair shops directly, once you have that person ask them who is the best "diagnostic" shop. They usually know which shops actually diagnose and which shops just swap parts.
I recently replaced the gearbox on my 2005 Renegade CRD A - Diesel. It was replaced with a second-hand gearbox, the original gearbox from a car that was being sold by parts. We have installed the gearbox on my Jeep and all seems to be working ok, apart from the third gear that won’t engage smoothly. There is a bit of a jolt whenever we shift into gear 3 and we have tried to identify what could be causing the problem, with no luck. Any help on this is highly appreciated. Please help if you know what the issue might be and advise on what we would do to fix it. th-cam.com/video/00xKT3mR-vk/w-d-xo.html
The newer 5 and 6 speed Chrysler automatics can't be killed. Most yards don't get calls for these transmissions selling them for $250.00 since they don't break.Only had one that was a bad computer in a 2001 Dodge Dakota. The RLE transmissions don't have problems and anyone saying they do is full of shit
You seem to be confused. The 42RLE, the subject of this video, is an Ultradrive(the one that came out in 1989 and was so troublesome) that is modified for rear-wheel drive usage. The Chrysler 545RFE is the 5/6-speed used in Rams, Chargers, etc. That's the tough one. The RLE's have had PLENTY of problems.

i like the use of scan data and the way he explains what he is looking for and why.this video is great. looking forward to following more of his work.
Nothing goes better with morning coffee than a Realfixes video (grin).

the same thing.. just a beer instead of coffee !

Nice work, look forward to the follow up tear down video.
Great vid. You are fortunate to have a pro technician like Cory
Great video looking foward to watching this transmisson rebuild process.
very good info given!looking forward to the transmission overhaul!
Very good video. Very informative. Cant wait for the the transmittion series
Great info here, for some reason I always thought these jeeps had the 3.7 in them. Thanks for the video guys!
Awesome video!!!! It's actually kinda ironic to me that you put this up today as I just got done rebuilding my first automatic transmission today.
The transmission ran low on fluid. ECU put it in limp mode. Change the fluid and reset the counter in the ECU.
Thanks for the great video and all your time and patience to explain in deatail

Looking forward to seeing the 2nd gear clutch material. :)
well well thas was a professional diagnosis. well done.!!!!!!
Could you run some air tools in the background also?
That's about what I was thinking.
It's a working shop. What did you expect 🤷
can water or mud get into 42RLE transmissions when Jeep is driven thru water ? if so where are the vents located at ?
can you imagine how many times a mail carrier's transmission makes the 1-2 shift daily!
Hey guys, thanks for the awesome video, were you ever able to put of the follow up video of diagnosing the transmission itself? Thanks!
Do we know if the customer is using real ATF+4 fluid and not multi vehicle Dex/merc? I've heard that Chrysler vehicles will slip with incorrect fluid.
Excellent video
got a 99 jeep wj 4.0 only goes foward even in neutral

this great video thank you for explaint very clear
Would it have been possible to limp the car to the shop by clearing the code from the ECU allowing the transmission to engage 1st step?

I have a 2011 mail jeep coming into the shop stuck in second gear would it be the same prob only with another gear ?
Great video! May I ask how many miles did the Jeep have on ?
2016 wrangler when I reach over 3,000 rpm in any gear it seems like I'm in neutral. Let it get below 3,000 grabs again. What could be wrong?
Hi my Jeep Wrangler 2010 jk will not star stay the shifter in Drive can you please give me any ideas whats going on

Thanks!
God love our engineers! LOL
This is impossible to watch with all that noise and banging around in the background.
bring it to dodge for all updates and oh done right.
Jeeps are poc vehicles
