And in the end, when Rocks pirates were too strong, those two need to joined force to balance the table. I don't think both them gave a shit about the Celestial Dragons.
@@VietVuHunzter At the end of the day, Garp knows what the Marines are protecting. It's less about the civilians of the world and more about maintaining the status quo of protecting the CD. He continued to be in the marines for decades longer..........even trying to get Ace and Luffy to protect that system. He could have become a member of Sword, like Koby, but he still is in the system..............and it would be one thing if Garp was still a marine to try and make changes, but he doesn't want to do that either.

Man, hopefully we get more insight into what exactly happened at God Valley, because I find it hard to believe that Roger and Garp were like "yeah, defend the slaves and their masters".

If Garp likes his "justice" system and it's laws so much, he would have to protect the slaves. There's no going around and saying that Garp wasn't there to protect the slave owners

We don't really know, but i know rock's true strength, remember when mihawk saw luffy's true strength during marineford war arc? That's exactly rocks true terrifying power, the power to turn his enemies and people around him to fight for him, rocks fought in numbers not strength, meaning rocks pirate fleet were probably over a thousand members.

@ Despite what you may think, even real world pirates weren’t that stupid. They would kill each other only when they committed an act that deserved it. Like trying to betray the captain or trying to run. Pirates in the olden days were diplomatic and had specific rules. Otherwise they could never function properly. So even by real world standards, these guys are absolute clowns
Makes me wonder how many Rocks pirates there were if they regularly had fights to the death. The ones still alive by the time God Valley Incident hit must've been strong, devious, and ruthless asf.

Just one thing, he is a sword's member. But I agree, I hope Oda give us some motivation why these good characters like Sengoku, Garp, Tusuru, Fujitora, Koby and Smoker are still in the Navy.
@victorluz3052 are you sure garp is a member of Sword? Right before he went to the island to save koby he was talking to Doll and she asked if he got permission from the brass. I would imagine Doll would know whether he was Sword or not...and it also doesn't seem like something people purposely hid.
tell me you haven't watched one piece without telling me... garp is IN the marines because he firmly believes the MARINES are righteous. he KNOWS first hand that there are good pirates, as there are bad marines. however as a WHOLE pirates are against the law and mostly plunder and terrorize. just because the main characters are pirates and good does not mean pirates as a whole are good. garp himself knows that there are good pirates, otherwise why on earth would he give his word to a pirate to protect their child? garp KNOWS that's the right thing to do, the child did not harm anyone. he follows his own form of justice, in his own path in the marines and he has openly detested the celestial dragons basically every arc that he's in. and another flaw, garp RESIGNED from the marines after what they did in marineford because again, he saw something that wasn't his brand of justice and was no longer interested, however he did stay to train a future generation of marines that fit his brand of justice as the protectors of the world. absolute yap your comment was lol.

The reason why this battle and team up was that on this island where the world's most powerful devil fruits which the calestinian Dragons had at the time....this is the reason why Rocks decided to attack and also the reason why Roger and Garp team up for no coming these devil fruits at Xebec hands....and the fruits ends up at Kaido Big mom Kuma Shiki whitebeard and the rest who survived....Oda probably will do a flash back and perhaps the upcoming final war will be something similar but for the ancient weapons

@@tapioka7294 I don't think Roger protected the CD. If I recall, Sengoku said Garp was protecting them and that to fulfill this mission he sided with Roger against Rocks. I don't recall Sengoku saying Roger was helping.
Idk what Roger was seeking but I think he saw Rocks as more dangerous than the CD and Holy Knights.

At the end of the day..............I doubt Rocks and crew were there to kill slaves. They were there to overthrow the CD. Roger and Garp protected that system by getting in between.
