With all due to respect to this kind man, he wasn't one of the children who suffered from the worst kind of abuse and felt compelled to protect other young people from Casey later on. I met Casey, he was a jolly man, he was very likeable. And he did love sports cars. He lived in opulence. Leather jackets, best of food and drink. And Casey did initiate the relationship with his cousin. He tried to have her baby taken away. He had to support them when she rightly refused. He should have left the priesthood. This man is in terrible denial and engaged in victim blaming.

It sounds like this lovely elderly man is deeply sympathetic, but may not fully grasp the lasting impact of abuse on its victims. If I were to address him, I'd say something like this:
"You know, I hear your compassion for Bishop Eamon Casey, and I understand why you’d want to let him rest in peace. But the pain his actions caused-the affair that led to a son being born, and especially the accusations of molestation-has left many people with wounds they carry for a lifetime. For those victims, their peace has been stolen, and they're still living with the scars of shame, guilt, and betrayal long after the abuse stopped. While he may have gone 'astray,' it’s important to remember that the victims often have very little rest themselves. Perhaps it’s not about condemning him endlessly, but rather about acknowledging the ongoing suffering of those who were hurt, so they too can find some kind of peace."
It seems like this man hasn’t experienced the kind of trauma the victims have, and that can make it hard to fully understand just how deep those wounds run

My goodness....I wonder how you would feel if it was your daughter/granddaughter who was abused???...a different pious attitude on you then I am sure!!....it's another nail in the coffin in Catholicism in Ireland....a dying breed of people....and I will add.'unfortunately'....because...there is nothing left to replace the little bit of respect and decent behaviour that was i stilled in us older people in our homes and national schools growing up.....there were lots of good priests and nuns out there...but...all tarnished with the same brush unfortunately because of the actions of a few....there was only one priest ordained in Tipperary in the past 10 years....that says everything.....

He shouldn't be just blaming the woman SOLELY.

Father Casey's story reminds me of a great cow we had years ago, she would give us a huge bucket of milk every morning, then kick the bucket a spill all the milk. Shocked to hear about the sexuall abuse.Stop blaming the lady,he couldn't control himself, why did he want his cake and eat it also.He betrayed so many.

How come RTE won't report the crimes our politicians are committing against it's people???? Corruption of our culture and Invasion policies and dismissal of our homeless as irrelevant? Where were the modular homes for the long term Irish homeless who died on our streets?????

Because they are the propaganda machine behind the government who are just puppets for globalists, all paid off to push the agenda.

I can understand not wanting to have accusations be made publically towards someone who is deceased, but at the end of the day if the accusations are true why shouldn’t the victims get some closure by having the world know about it? They’re still here, and if the abuse occurred then that means they’re still suffering the repercussions. Is it better that abuse victims suffer in silence forever? It sounds a bit like you don’t care either way.

RTE are great at investigating things when are they going to be investigated themselves?

Thank you John for your awareness around RTE. It amazes me how RTE rarely report on the positive of the faith but only the negative.

That's the MSM for you, just like the Government and the rest of official Ireland on the books of a global corporate elite seeking to reduce Western society to a dystopian pseudo Marxist entity there to gratify the avarice of the few.Sadly old ideals such as religion are "obstacles" which need to be cleared for such a new world order.

In response to your comment I've just seen.
How old was Ms.Annie Murphy at the time, 35/36/37?
No dear! She was ONLY a very young woman in her very early twenties.
And.......let those who are without sin cast the FIRST STONE.
