    Lots of people are reporting problems with this dock. Main probs are that it is not always plug and play as some describe. Many report having to go into steam os desktop and having to format any nvme drive that’s in the doc to a Linux partition before it works properly with Steam. Supposedly there is an auto mount script from the docking company but is out of date and doesn’t always solve the mounting problem. The other problem being reported is the heat from this dock. Many users are claiming that it gets very hot. I’m concerned about all those issues that so many people are having, it’s not just a few. In spite of all these known issues I decided to try it for a few days snd I’ll immediately return it if I run into those issues.

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven’t had any issues on the rog ally with it. And yes most docks get very hot which is for a few reasons but if you get an nvme in there they get hella hot which is 100% normal and expected. Some people don’t understand the logistics but essentially the nvme produces heat no matter where you put it, any enclosure or computer or device using one will show 50-90c in the nvme temp sensor if you open hwinfo or any monitoring software on any device ever made esp when downloading or running games.

      @@cppctek I just got the dock for my Legion Go and is a problem. The charging cable from the dock is way too short to properly connect to the Legion Go even with the 90 degree adapter without having to slide the Legion go over to right to the point where it barely fits on the stand. I was able to connect the cable but it’s in a strain and puts pressure on the Legion Go port. This would probably be a good dock for the SteamDeck but it is not a good solution for the Legion Go at all. The Legion Go also fits loose and in a rather flimsy way as it is very easy to come out of the dock. Not sure why anyone would think this is a good dock for the Legion Go simply because the cable is way to short.

      This one you’d have to get creative by using two docks but if tou need dual displays there’s some

      @hellboy0013 I’ve got 6 or 7 docks and 2 are dell’s and one of them has dp and hdmi as well as does for sure do gsync but in theory should do free sync as well but I couldn’t get it working. I’ve got a few friends as well. I don’t think it’s an end all be all feature. It works fine and does what I need without free sync. I leave all that stuff disabled anyways even on my desktop. It’s not going to net me any more fps in a game that I’m already getting 90-120 in so I’m fine running everything without it.

    No display port so your limited to 120hz get the JSAUX 12 in 1 it has the display port I use this with my Rog ally on my Alienware 34 OLED and I'm running 165hz the only downside u dont get many usb on the back. And it's so easy to add a bigger SSD to the Rog ally I don't see the upside to ssd slot on a doc other than it looks cool and then if your on the go all your games are on the doc so if your not going to keep it docked take this on to consideration hence jusy put a bigher ssd in thr rog ally and this doc gets super hot 🔥there are loads of reviews pointing this out i was gutted but that and no display port your capped to 120hz so if your have a gaming monitor most go well over 165hz but if your hell bent on this dod get a used on ebay

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Doing crystal disk mark is hard to test fully since it’s usb it doesn’t really show all the sensors on hwinfo. There’s many reasons comparing internal nvme vs external aren’t really comparable. Either way you still should want and need an internal heatsink for Ally. This is just a supplemental drive while plugged into the dock. You can’t boot to it and it won’t replace the internal drive at all so you still need the prior mods or should desire to use them as well. Temps on what I saw were mid 40s even under crystal disk mark test. The issue is too is the usb nvme speeds are much slower than internal too and I’m comparing a 2280 drive so they can disperse heat more efficiently
