  • This tutorial is for a gravity ice dyed side twist shirt. The dye movement on this shirt is really cool and it reminds me of sand dunes!

    Such a cool looking shirt. The one side is almost a scrunch and the other side does look like sand dunes. So beautiful, Angie. Thanks for sharing.

    I like the texture of the cloth pushed through the grid. It'sthe kind of effect I'm after achieving and also the technique of allowing half of the shirt dangling so that the colours run freely is perfect!

    Very clever gravity technique.
    I think the areas that you poked into the holes remind me of spinal disks and chakras. I can imagine creating a skeletal tie dye for Halloween and creating a mandala with chakra centers for a meditation outfit.

      Thank you! I've started trying to embrace some of these colors more the past couple of years. I used to rarely use anything in the orange/yellow family, but I've started branching out and loving those colors lately.

      @@lareebrownell3399 I totally understand. I have to consciously force myself to reach for this color palette. However, when I do a shirt like this, I really love the way it looks. I've heard that we have a tendency to choose colors that look good for us to wear. Which makes sense because yellow doesn't look good on me.

    I love this approach - however can this be performed on a man-made fabric such as polyester

    • @FunEndeavors
      @FunEndeavors  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! No, not using the dye that I use. I use fiber reactive dye and it only works on natural fabrics such as cotton. 😀

    • @cathyreay8127
      @cathyreay8127 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I understand that it requires a special kind of dye for polyester fabric however my main question is - can you ice dye w/ this special type of dye - I am of the understand the man-made fabric requires boiling - is that what your knowledge indicates. Thank you for your replys

    • @FunEndeavors
      @FunEndeavors  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cathyreay8127 I haven't ever used polyester dye. I've heard they need boiling too though. I did a little research, and it looks like the dyes need boiling water to make the color permanent and to relax the fabric so that it absorbs the dye. Therefore, I don't think this process would work with ice and polyester dye at all.

    Did you elevate this shirt to make the gravity flow? Very interesting technique. 👍

    • @FunEndeavors
      @FunEndeavors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the most part the rack over the top of the vinyl guttering is level. I didn't purposely incline it. The dye will just naturally flow down the shirt as the ice melts.

    • @medolark
