  • Fitting the Brembo 17z brake calipers onto Lexus IS300 I found recently at a local junkyard for the $80 (front).
    These will fit IS300 using overkill engineering custom brackets. They require 2012+ GS350 F-Sport 14.1" rotors and rear IS-F/RC-F rotors.
    I used Autosports Engineering 30mm Roll Center Adjusters: • Installing Lexus IS300...
    For grinding, recommend getting a 9” disk. The 4-1/2” I used worked at first but got too worn out and hard to reach for rotor clearancing. For grinder control, definitely recommend a foot pedal to control speed, I've used a Foredom brand foot pedal since the 1990s (nail salon days) for my Dremel and grinders. For safety, I used this faceshield when grinding.
    Dewalt 9" Disk - amzn.to/36b5Pn1
    120V Foot-pedal - amzn.to/36ceohq
    Faceshield Protector - amzn.to/369I1QH
    The calipers should say 17ZL and 17ZR (Parts stores/Rock Auto show these as the rotor 330mm)
    Part numbers on edge: 20.8432.06 and 20.8432.05
    I used 2013-2018 GS350 F-sport rotor-Centric 121.44204 and 121.44205 (not to be confused to GS-F or IS-F)
    For the rear you need IS-F drilled or GS-F slotted rotors, I ordered some DYNAMIC FRICTION 600-75040D and 600-75039D rotors because they were only RC-F/GS-F solid blanks available to match the F-sport solids. All others are OE still with the slots or drilled for IS-F.
    Hardware I ordered from BelMetric (shipping was $9.25):
    Front:
    4 x BSH12X1.75.30 - Allen Socket Head (BSH12X30) = $2.72
    4 x BSH16X1.5X40 - Allen Head 12.9 Black (BSH16X1.5X40) = $6.88
    4 x WL12CLZ - Lock Washer Zinc (WL12CLZ) = $0.56
    4 x WL16MECLZ - Lock Washer Mechanical Zinc (WL16MECLZ) = $1.04
    8 x WFHV16CLZ - Hardened Flat Washer Zinc (WFHV16CLZ) = $3.60
    Rear:
    4 x BSH14X1.5X30 - Allen Head 12.9 Black (BSH14X1.5X30) = $6.96
    4 x BSH12X1.7525 - Allen Socket Head (BSH12X25) = $2.52
    4 x WL12CLZ - Lock Washer Zinc (WL12CLZ) = $0.56
    4 x WL14CLZ - Lock Washer Zinc (WL14CLZ) = $1.00

      I would really recommend getting a 5” disk for the inside clearancing for rotor. That 4-1/2 new one I used was good then it got too worn. The backside clearancing for the steering knuckle can be done with a cutoff wheel. I picked up that HarborFreight electric cutoff tool after I already did the knuckle on back side. amzn.to/3hyOxoJ

    I would go with overkill engineering for the rear retrofit as I don’t know of any other cost effective BBK setups, but the front isn’t worth it in my opinion.

      I have 3-piece SSR with low disk and neither clear. You need high front disk and medium rear to clear. On 5th Gen Celica forum, the owner, Overkill Engineering has good info and has the caliper to disk measurement. Gotta register for forum to view.

      It depends on spike design and hub spacing. You need a high disk hub to clear most BBK.

    • @TunerwithKids

    Great video but honestly this is way too much work... The IS350 calipers and rotors do a much better retrofit and all you need are two adapters available on eBay. No trimming or shaving required. I have them on my IS300 and they stop like a dream.

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea much more work than expected. Would have gone with ISF 6-pot for $300/each new and 350phi brackets for bolt on. But this was more for the challenge and experimentation.

      @TunerwithKids  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There isn’t any clearance for 18z on is300 or contact surface of the rotor. Overkill_engineering is pretty experienced with this and he got it spot on for pad contact and clearance.

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Spindle spindle, knuckle, hub assembly. All same shit. In an automobile, the wheel spindle, sometimes called simply the spindle, is the part of the suspension system that carries the hub for the wheel and attaches to the upper and lower control arms.
