Hi Dan. I think the lower vent is to supply air for the fire. I’m a gas engineer and if you have a fire or boiler that takes its burning air from the room there are very strict supply ventilation sizes that must be in place. If a fire doesn’t get enough air then the fire produces more carbon monoxide, might be worth bearing in mind when you’re camping. Great video as always mate 👍

Dan I’d at the Velcro on the outside is if you want to replace the stove jack as you would cut the old one out then Velcro the spare on that comes with the tent. Keep up the great vids

I got one back in February, as soon as they came out, I kept checking the web site after they announced it. Only got to use it for three nights in April when the temperature hit freezing. The vent I leave open to help with through flow combined with the vent at the other end. I wouldn't go near it when the stove is active. I too noticed the strap, you'll have to lay the groundsheet, put up the tent, then flip the end of the ground sheet over the strap, then attach the groundsheet. I did and would only use a small stove in it, unless you want to cook yourself. I was surprised how much room there is in the vestibule, even with a stove, room to the side for a small camping table. It gets very hot very quickly, at the hovering around zero C. temp.

Awesome hot tent! Vent suggestion- before you install the stove, keep the center vent attached whilst undoing the 2 corners, and letting them down. It'll look like a triangle. If you want less ventilation, you could easily reach the hanging corners with a stick. Flip them up if you need to. If your stick has a 'y' , carve it so you could pull the flaps down again.

I'm glad that you like your new tent. I'm looking forward to watch you cooking a 5 kg steak and 12 sausages for your supper in there when the dark nights come along.
It looks good value as just a tent even without using your stove.

For the vent you could stitch a fin steel rod to the top of the flap and swap the velcro for magnets add some string to the lip so it can be pulled down with ease and then maybe be able to just flip it back up with a stick or some sort just a thought 🤔 .. It's better than climbing around a hot stove, and I'd say fairly easy to do

Looks nice that tent Dan, the last time I stayed in a tent was a Gale Force 10 tent, it was my uncle's who sadly was murdered back in 1994. The tent, I gave it away to someone eventually, but it had been used in Glastonbury, it was a bright orange so nobody could have missed it there. My uncle had been a potholer and caretaker and was with the Northern Pennine Club, at Green Close Cottage. His ashes are scattered on the top of Ingleborough.

The velcro design is made so you can buy an add on cover to stick on it, once it's too damaged you can rip off and replace. I would get a cover rather than just using the one that's made on the tent. See below.
REMOVABLE AND REPLACEABLE DESIGN - The fireproof stove jack adopts a detachable Velcro design. This is beneficial to replace the chimney stove jack when the chimney cloth is damaged, so as to prolong the service time of the tent.

I always feel that some shelter is better than no shelter and that a water and windproof shelter is a fine thing, even if it protects a small volume. This Polmoly tube tent strikes me as maybe the best compromise for heating a small volume and allowing for a fella to sit up, at least in the vestibule.

If the air vent behind the stove were on the outside, wouldn,t we complain if it were raining or blizzards outside and we had to go out in the cold n wet , boots on jackets on, boots off jackets off, heat escaping . i think we would, being careful is probably the best of two evils . but i get the concern. good video m8. i,m in Scotland, the rain is the same but being much harder when landing on surfaces, it can and does come through the tent at times, no shit. i,m a bike rally camper.

Cheers for the vid, personally for me, I would pass, there are plenty of reviews of 6 ft + guys struggling with the size of the tent. The length of the sleeping area may well be long but once you take in to consideration the sloping back..... Will be interested in seeing how much actual room you have with a hot stove in there and the easy of entry / exit of the tent. As for the vent behind the stove I automatically assumed with the stove in operation it would be left in the open position.

Woodstove burning benefits from a fresh air intake so as not to use the interior air. This vent should be opened whenever the stove is operating, so inside or outside, the fastening is of minimal concern.
