In 1957/8 Mr Fosket, a school teacher at the Garling Junior School in Margate Kent England made a wind up radio for our class. He used the winding mechanism of a wind up gramophone (record Player) to generate electric power which he then connected to a small Radio, the parts of which were fixed to a wooden board measuring about 30cm by 40cm. The reception was boosted by a copper wire hung over the easel (Blackboard) Mr Fosket unfortunately passed away soon after with, I Believe a brain tumor.. There are still many of his class still alive who can testify to this fact.
Thank you for demonstrating that because I'm in Florida right now I'm going to try to find hopefully I can find one we're about ready to get buy another hurricane and no we are not prepared
It's not a wind up radio. You're not winding (up)a spring like the baygen freeplay. That radio you have is a crank radio. You're just charging a battery. The freeplay has no batteries, only a generator that powers the radio as the spring unwinds. Lasts 30mins full volume.
