    Well on"Operation Frankton
    " only in here i have heard that the 6 six were sunk while elsewhere all i have read/found was that 6 ships were damaged and nearly all of them returned to service months later.
    About "Operation Anthropoid" to be clear was not just an 2 men drop,was more complex then that,for instance they were inserted 7 other Czechoslovak soldiers(who endured very same training has the named 2 did).Unfortunately 1 of them(Karel Curda) turned informer and denounced his comrades hiding place to the Gestapo. Their hiding place is now a museum & memorial:Saints Cyril and Methodius Cathedral(where all involved soldiers and partisans are named).

    • @Uncle_Torgo
      @Uncle_Torgo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Without power steering, the steering wheels had to be big to provide enough leverage to turn without too much of a struggle. If you want to see some large wheels, check out an early 50s Chevrolet, big as a helicopter rotor. :)

    • @carolmorris404
      @carolmorris404 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Uncle_Torgo thanks Richard, I did look at the 50's steering wheels. My old 65 vw beetle was quite a joke given that it had also been used as stock car. The tyres were not much broader than a mountain bycicle's. I always had the last laugh though when winter came around and everybody was struggling to get their 80's cars started and my beetle just turned on. Guess no radiator had some advantages. Good ol' days. 🇿🇦

    • @Jack-Hands
      @Jack-Hands 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No.
      And that's the problem. We DO know that there is still a great deal of unexploded ordinance in the ground, both from WW1 & WW2. We just DON'T know how much and where exactly. And the terrible part is that most of it is still dangerous, even after a 100 years in the ground or underwater. And it's not just "normal" exploding shell, but also WW1 gas shells, still sealed and filled with terrible mustard gas.
      A couple are found each month. And nobody knows when the last one will be found.
