I like the hitch mounted tray best! Interested in the review of the 1up.

Maybe put a moving blanket under the truck pad for additional protection? Will it work to protect from the scratches?

It would be nice if you had a link to that rack that you showed.

@xxx yyy - That's a good call! Which rack are you interested in? I will make sure I find the link and leave it in the description. Thanks for the feedback!

Do you know if the tailgate hits the 1up when the rack is in the stored position?

It’s funny you ask, just recently I had to put the tailgate down with the bike rack up in the “closed” position. I stepped on the tailgate to get in the bed, and heard a crunch. The rack made two perfect little dents in the tailgate. So, yeah it hits for sure.

So it contacts the tailgate when folded up, but is there any contact with the tailgate if the rack is in the deployed or tilted position? This is a major selling point and almost nobody addresses this issue when hitch mount bike racks are used on pickups. I also have a Tacoma, and this info is rather important.

That sucks your tailgate got all scratched up bro. Trucks are mad expensive right now. Vehicles are more like a long term investment now. But thanks for the insight. Was thinking about getting a tailgate cover but really don't want my 80,000 truck getting wrecked.

It's a bad deal for sure. But I was thinking, if you wanted to use a tailgate pad, I wonder if you could PPF the tailgate to keep the paint from getting scratched? Too late for me, but it might work for you.
